Fans' Forum tonight on 19:01 - Aug 7 by Southamptonfan | I thought everyone said Spors was good, a new start, when I pointed out that nothing will change all the while Sport Republic are here? |
So basically, if we go up, it would be very difficult again because our income is 150 million, compared to the 750 million they get at Man City. Very inspiring stuff. I will say it again, Sport Republic are a waste of space. No chairman and no manager at the forum. But they care about the fans deeply? [Post edited 7 Aug 19:13]

Unfortunately we can only dream being like the likes of Bournemouth, Brentford, Fulham, Palace, Brighton who all went up and established them selfs. They also didn’t have a bunch of fvcking idiots in charge who took an established premier league club to 2 relegations in 3 seasons and now trying to convince us it’s almost impossible to go up and stay up.

Fans' Forum tonight on 18:51 - Aug 7 by dirk_doone | Johannes has made it clear that he was the one who decided to offer Stephens the long contract because he thinks he's a great leader and good example for the younger players. He really is an awful person to be in charge of the football side of the Club. |
Not impressed. Making Stephens Captain and giving him a 3 year contract extension makes no sense. This is a player who was sent off twice in a season and was heavily fined for abusing the referee and fourth official and received a two match suspension. Why doesn't the manager choose the Captain?

It's the Sport Republic way. We blame the manager every time things go wrong. But it's not the manager making the decisions on players being signed or contracts. The manager is left in impossible situations with a bad team to manage. And it's the owners at fault. If we were to have a manager making all these decisions, SR wouldn't have the yes man that they want. They don't want an experienced manager telling them to sign an experienced proven player. A player like that wouldn't make money for them. So they appoint managers who do as they are told and who agree to be bossed about and ruled. WS has been told who to have as his captain. A young, new manager with potential allows this sort of thing to happen, and that's why they never go for experience. Dyche for example would tell them where to stick it. This is one reason, why under the same owners, same system, I am not convinced. [Post edited 7 Aug 20:53]

Why is anyone remotely surprised that the whole thing was a washout ? It’s become an annoying annual P R Exercise under the control of the waffling Blackmore. Fortunately I didn’t watch it as I had better more productive things to do, watching my garden potatoes grow.

There was also a "calm" but "fragile" air / atmosphere of "We have had enough". Somebody said "SR have made us a laughing stock" . I think there was a clear, calm message that they have to get things right this year, or there will be huge protests against our owners. [Post edited 7 Aug 20:59]

Not according to Nick, Dirk. His appointment was proof that the Club were turning over a new leaf.

Certainly not from me. Having now found out the breath of fresh air Spors rates Stephens so highly, it's just confirmed that's nothing's changed, they're only here to make money, keep the dross that they can't sell and get as much as possible for the best players in the squad. Still will need to be a miracle worker to get any results - I really hope he does, but if not there will be no big protest from me. I won't be there.

100%. As a nipper it was always about the football and connection with a lot of the players we had at that time. Armstrong, Channon, Magilton, Oakley, Dodd etc etc. Now it’s purely a day out and few beers.

Spors made it very clear that it is him that decides what players come & what players go. (Re- Slack Jack). Of course he should have input into those decisions but surely the Manager should have the final say. I feel for Will Still having to work under Spors Dictatorship. I wish him & his team well but fear the worst under the current ownership. [Post edited 8 Aug 9:41]

The revenue excuse is an easy smokescreen for terrible management. Many successful premier league clubs are surely on par with us in the realm of commercial revenue - the difference between us is recruitment and ambition.

Not surprising that we fail to attract decent players when the message from the technical Director is that we can't compete in the Premier lge. Right we might not be able to compete with the top six Premier clubs financially but there is absolutely no reason why we shouldn't be able to compete the rest. Spors comment about having to rely on the revenue from Season Tickets is valid but our income from Season Tickets & Gate receipts far exceeds the likes of Bournemouth / Fulham and others & look what they have achieved. OK it's not likely that those clubs can sustain their status in Premier Lge indefinitely but that applies to all clubs. Come on Spors try putting an optimistic spin on the state of our once great club. Make us proud again.

What makes me laugh is that we were pretty much an established PL outfit before this mob came to town on horseback. Two relegations later and suddenly there is a chasm / huge financial void that never ever existed before for teams returning to the top flight! Don’t know about others, but based on Spors and Parsons last night I am not entirely sure that we have any strategy, or short, medium and long term goals. Time will tell but I seriously wonder if we have any set direction or aspirations other than to get back towards the PL. The Stevens situation is prime ‘Rylan’ contract extension which was not needed. [Post edited 8 Aug 11:51]

Fans' Forum tonight on 12:30 - Aug 8 with 548 views | Joiedevivre | I fully agree with Grim and TripleNiemi. It’s no wonder we were essentially a laughing stock last season and are going into this with the same lacklustre attitude. Parsons is a massive loser - it’s a wonder how he’s got so far up? Was he not an internal hire? What was the interview? “Yeah, no chance really” “Well, as long as we rival Mcdonald’s and KFC, that’ll do me” It’s an absolute joke and a waste of what could be successful years watching these clowns run our club. We need him gone for anyone with a proper attitude for winning something - failure to his degree, and his easily swayed excuses for perpetual failure, is not acceptable.

I think that Parsons was previously at Dyson. He must be used to sweeping things under the carpet……
