Smyth excellent first half, Saito excellent when he came on. But out of players that started and finished it has to be Kone right ? Presence up front, and a cool as a cucumber finish that is so refreshing to see from a QPR striker

Yes.

Makes such a difference having a proper centre forward up there.

Start of the second half he absolutely bodied their centre back. Smashed him straight in the chops and knocked him back to the ground. Totally gratuitous. Guy was on the floor pointing at him, and he just laughed. Yeh. Get used to it.

Been a while.

...which leads into the fact that I thought the ref was excellent today. Fouls given only when necessary, same with cards and a lot of minor stuff that other refs stop the game for he waved on. Second and third goals could easily have been pulled back for tussles in midfield earlier on in the moves had we had a Gavin Ward type today, but he really let the game flow as much as possible.

Played most of the game with one leg of his shorts rolled up. What’s that all about?

He’s a mason.

The same last week. Would love to know what that is.

I love him already. Saito my MotM though - changed the game when he came on.

Scooters, Tunes, Trainers and QPR.

6 is miserable for Saito. He was the best player on the park when he came on, and head and shoulders - figuratively at least - above the rest.

With you on this one. He was playing a different game to the rest of them out there . That was a stunning goal .

Thought he was ok/good. That will do for me. But I've read comparisons to Les and sorry, thats just crazy. Early game he was chasing a ball into the area, and their CB just waltzed past him. He has no pace and thats ok because he may well have all the other attributes. Admittedly its the first time I've seem him and Keen to see more.

Austin had no pace, but read the game, knew where to position himself and his finishing was clinical. Burrell can do the running, Kone can do the finishing. Works for me.

Saito changed the game. Dembele could learn plenty from him.

The way he took his goal reminded me of Peter Crouch. Those one on ones are not as easy as he made it look. And the dummy for Smyth’s goal was Penrice-esque.

Kone looks like a really decent player.

Diakite used to do that too. Are his thighs just too big 😀

Yep agree, great performance from Kone, reminded me of Ferdinand back in the day, great to see. Really liked seeing two up top and thought Burrell did well too, they could potentially be an excellent partnership.

The subs got us back in the game, Saito the best of them, his post match interview with Smyth is just bloody brilliant.

Thought we did ok in parts but we are our own worst enemy at times.

ND did well on his debut too.

Walsh is still an issue.

Was gonna say the same. Reminded me so much of Les. He played very well. You could see the centre half's knew he could beat them in the air and he was ready to go through them and around them. Makes a huge difference to our team.

Yes, really enjoyed Kone running straight at Charlton Centre half, full take out of his whole body and a. er head collision as well, poor sod didn't know what hit him.

( I think this was payback for nasty off the ball in first half).

And yes I do see a lot of Les in him, ( obviously not pace) but all round confidence and physical threat, plus very cool in front of goal. I like him.

Loved it. Samba Diakite-esque. Has the air of being slightly unhinged (very helpful, see Frey also), but also just gratuitously showing off his enormous thigh. His strength is all in those thighs and that arse. Like Gallen’s body shape but bigger.

Whilst on the subject of leg muscles, Burrell's calf muscles are ridiculous...it's like he's had a couple of honeydew melons surgically implanted.

One or two do not believe Kone won many headers. I just checked the stats. He won 10, the most by any QPR player.

I think the last time I saw a QPR player break out and score after one-on-one with the keeper was probably, ironically, Celar at Cardiff.

That was a really good finish - as he decided not to go across the keeper to the right hand post it would’ve been really easy to drag it wide of the left hand post.

Another one who really enjoyed Kone's performance.

Apart from one misplaced through ball for ND when he was overlapping, I honestly didn't think he put a foot wrong all game. A great home debut, capped off with a lovely finish (agree with others as well, that Burrell did a brilliant job flicking it on under a lot of pressure from the Charlton centre back).

Yes , another who thought he was the man of the match , just for his 90 minute contribution rather than the brilliant 30 or so from Saito .
Those 2 centre backs will be aching this morning and agree with the point made earlier in this thread that imagine chasing a game with Kone and Frey up top ?!

That’s an absolutely brutal pairing for any back 4 even though they are soil erosion slow .

Agree also about the lovely flick from Burrell for the third goal . If he meant it , it showed lovely vision. His attitude is first class but it might take him a while to raise his overall game to this level .
That assist will help though .
Mbengue is bonkers but I have already warned to him. Not sure why he was ever taken out of that position in the first place . The vague similarities to Danny Maddix made by Clive and one or 2 others a couple of weeks ago really showed yesterday .Maddix on meth.

And just a quick mention for Rayan Kolli .
By all accounts had a tough week .

But was trusted to play 2 different positions for the second half , and without doing any thing special , is starting to grow his all round game and didn’t let anyone down yesterday . Thought he got out of that tight corner late on really well .
He fronted up last week which took courage and maturity when others had run for the hills .
A lot to learn and improve on, but seems to be learning , growing and doing ok .

Christian Ronaldo often did this. It is to put a tiny amount of compression on the thigh to stop it cramping. A few players do this.

Either that or it is just a habitual superstition...

Never knowingly right.

Watching the highlights Kone had a lot more to do than I'd realised at the time for his goal. The way he stroked it in I'd thought the keeper was well out of position but no, one touch into his stride, timed it beautifully and bosh.

I think his pace is fine too, and when you see CB's bouncing off him and smacking the deck with interest, all very very encouraging finally.
