Scores in the 93rd minute. 2-2

It's brilliant composure from Mikey Johnston to pass when he could have had a shot and Ryan Manning's cross is superb.

Adam Idah is left unmarked but he finishes well. The Republic of Ireland have deserved that.

Hope we can keep them both happy. Competition for places is important.

Let’s be fair, you would have had to be a clairvoyant, if you thought Vip was going to be a top class striker.

It doesn't take Clairvoyance.

You just need to have been willing to keep an open mind and consider the possibility that there might just have been reasons beyond his control as to why he didn't score 20 goals last season.

For what it's worth, I'm still not sure that he's a top class striker. I do know however that he's clearly much better, has always been clearly much better than the Aidan Newhouse type loser that far too many people are still pretending that he was.

It's frankly bonkers that anyone can claim that Cullen was a better option whilst keeping a straight face.

There is definitely more chance of him shining, with the midfield now at his disposal.
But One swallow and all that.

Of course. It's early days.

However, Writing off Vipotnik based on six months under Williams is just as kneejerk as writing off Darling based on six months under Martin was, and plenty did that too.

It will never cease to amaze me how many people go straight to slagging off a player instead of taking the time to ask themselves if there just might be some reason as to why the player isn't doing well.

Vipotnik isn't the first player to suffer from that, and he undoubtedly won't be the last. Step by step I hope people begin to learn.

No it doesn't. Even capable managers/coaches occasionally make mistakes though. He's still well in the plus column overall.

Sheehan hasn’t done anything wrong.

The way they were both playing from when he took over (excluding the first two games when Vipotnik was very good) and the first couple of games this season, Cullen was the obvious choice.

Vipotnik came off the bench, had a very good game and has had the shirt since. Not sure where Idah fits in, but he’s way ahead of Cullen now.

Fans look at it simplistically ‘which one is more likely to score?’ (if we’re honest, neither were very likely to until recently). Managers look more holistically ‘is the team more likely to score/are we more likely to win games with Cullen or Vipotnik up front?’.

I expect Vipotnik to start against Hull and Idah to come on from the bench for 20-30 minutes, only because Idah has not spent any time with the squad to integrate. I think currently neither are guaranteed to start and it will be which one performs the best consistently. I still think Vipotnik will be gone in January, we haven't invested what we have in Idah for him to be a bench warmer and Vipotnik won't like being back down the pecking order. Let's just see how it pans out, at least we have options up front that we have lacked for a while.

We still need two, not including Cullen. Whichever of them is on the bench will just have to use it as motivation. No one is going to get a move and be the only striker at a new club.

As much as I’ve criticised him, I don’t think you can take Vipotnik out of the team at the moment. If he keeps playing like he did in the second half at Sheffield, he’ll keep starting.

Lets just wait and see. I hope Vipotnik has turned the corner, but I have seen him have so many more poor games than good ones. I'm not convinced yet by a couple of good halves when he was anonymous in the rest of the game. I want all our players to do well, but its the hope that kills you.

I’m far from convinced. You’re completely right, he’s had a lot more poor games than good ones and despite what some may think, the player is never completely blameless, regardless of who the manager is or his tactics.

He’s on form at the moment and that should be enough to get him in the team. There’s more pressure now there’s another genuine centre forward at the club.

We have yet to see how deeply Sheehan has a concept of "1st eleven". It seems to me (yes, that weak) Idah might well get battered against very physical teams, whereas Vipi would be in his element.

I think they are very different strikers who can do very different jobs. If the Celtic fans saw Idah get muscled off the ball, they wouldn't like that. It's not easy to do that to Vipi (or Stamenic).

OTOH if Idah can genuinely function in the 'fox in the box' role, that would be wonderful. No one else can.

I agree wholeheartedly! Sheehan was correct in choosing Cullen over Vip on occasion, but has rightfully rewarded Vip with his recently-increased amount of playing time and starts due to his goals. We all want Vip to continue scoring for the sake of the team. But I agree, Sheehan's probably not totally convinced just yet, especially seeing how inconsistent his overall play has been, even with his recent rich vein of goals scored.

As to WR's prediction of Vip being sold in the Jan window, we need both Idah & him to do well, be happy & confident, and stay, especially if Swans are in contention for promotion. Might see one of them exit next summer though, especially if we're not promoted.

Honestly we can talk about service, positioning, movement and natural finishing ability all day but sometimes it absolutely works just to get the ball 30 yards out and twa7ing it at the goal as hard as humanly possible.

He’s got a rocket in both feet and needs to just hit it as often as possible.

The striker issue is not necessarily down to the individual. Our build up play has been measured in geological time for some years now meaning that the box is usually flooded with defenders by the time the ball gets there. Moving the ball forward quicker and getting it into the box at the earliest opportunity will help and I think we now have the tools to do that.

Your point about hitting the ball as hard as he can becomes a pinball game when the defenders are all back so hopefully we can get him in positions where he’s got more goal and less bodies to aim at.

Personally I’d say it’s a massive opportunity for him to stick 2 fingers up to the green half of Glasgow.
