Think that’s harsh and I’m not a fan of his. Was worried with the way we set up and we definitely should have clogged up the midfield earlier but he is starting to put himself about a bit more- it’s never going to be a great part of his game- and the pass to Kone while not a hugely difficult one is one many players don’t attempt quickly enough.
Did bottle a challenge out wide in the first half quite spectacularly. I fear better teams than Wrexham will expose him but if it were Field/Hayden in a two that will happen to some extent. Sheaf for his brief time on the pitch showed that. But overall not bad and not great. | | | |

I'm no fan of Madsen but I think that's a tad harsh. His passing stats were good as you'd expect, he actually did get a tackle in and his languid style can bring a calmness to his play.
That said his all too apparent weaknesses often negate his strengths. |  | | |

But I’m just really enjoying his one touch, moving the ball on …forward mostly , metronomic way of playing at the moment .
I still think he wants to play in a 10-15 yard space when at times, lifting his head and switching the play opens up the opposition.
But I feel that’s a little picky.
He has a very good footballing brain and some of his little passes are very clever .
I think this is the plan from the club, get him settled into the team and try and get him playing regularly and get him to grow and at the moment , it’s working .

Agree with this - the club had two options this year with Madsen. Bin him off and lose a great deal of money on a footballer who clearly has some talent, or persevere with him in the expectation that game time and coaching will give him the confidence and experience to improve his tackling, effort and ability to show for the ball
I’m glad they’ve gone for option two, it could well pay off as he brings something to the table with his passing nobody else in the team has.
Stephane even said in the post match interview he’s got him playing at 6 when it’s not really his position, but if we’re winning games I think it’s worth the risk |  | | |

No one else in CM would play that pass to Kone, regardless of how simple it was.
Madsen now has more assists this season than Varane and Field had combined last.

That’s an incredible stat and he’s playing deeper than he’d like as well. People moaned like drains about our midfield last season (rightly so) with its lack of progression and many accepting that playing Field and Varane together was the root cause of most of our problems. Madsen is clearly not the hard tackling, ball winning Championship midfielder many would like but I think his benefit to a more attack minded team this year is clear.
Edit. Varane got 2 assists last season and Field 0. Madsen has 1 assist so far but I think my point still stands [Post edited 14 Sep 12:57]

For all the great transfers in this summer, not getting a really classy CM in is a big mistake.
Better teams are going to run through our CM. I expect Stoke on Saturday to be a big test and it'll be interesting to see what Stephan does. | |

wow, not quite sure how you managed to suck the cloud from the silver lining.
Played as he was asked to play in a role he doesn't normally play and played it well. Kept the ball moving forwards used it intelligently and now how strikers ahead of him who can play the way we are set up to.
I think he is improving as his confidence is growing. Keeps it simple looks to be progressive, adding some more tenacity to his game which is needed in the Championship and will be new to him. Think he is also looking quite a bit sharper and fitter now.
He has played well and we won. Anything else is nonsense. |  |

All players have different strengths. He is our most creative passer of the ball and has the vision that many do not. The fact that nearly everyone says that he has improved should cut him some slack. I think because of his creativity he will be a vital cog in this team going forward. | | | |

Well, for a start, the club shouldn't be looking to spend £5/6m on Ronnie Edwards.
There is money clearly available it's just how it's spent. I'm pretty confident based on the players weve brought in that the club could find someone.

I thought he had his best game in the shirt. Excellent pass to make the goal and all round good vision, nice touch, always looking to move the ball forward. He's horses for courses, never gonna be Billy Bremner but increasingly a smart player who works the way we're set up.

With regard to selecting the players who start against Stoke......there will not be many changes, even the same team may start if they are all fit. There will, perhaps, be a 'tinkering' of the tactics to deal with Stoke. | | | |
