C'mon Europe....atmosphere is likely to brutal. Moral highground grasped with Americans now being paid to play. Essential to finish tomorrow equal at least i reckon.

Poll: Kitchen threads or polls?

It's hardly much of a stretch to include golf-nut Trump in a Ryder Cup thread - he was out there on Friday giving Dechambreu a shoulder rub at the first tee!

Trump also messaged his congratulations to Rory and took the resultant European team's banter well.

Absolutely, but he's right though (had to be right about something eventually, didn't he). Farcical rule, which we clearly pushed right to the boundaries. No-one can tell me he wouldn't have played if we were 2 points down!

Sorry Gary that was meant as an up vote.

Funny though. I have never heard of him mentioning it before.
The USA have used this before as well, I think twice. Definitely in 91 with Pate. No one has ever complained about it before in its 54 years of existence.

Smells like a trout farm in here

And in 91 they won by a point so it was significant unlike this one.

The options are:
A) the current rule
B) have a substitute
C) award the other team the point.

A and B are theoretically open to abuse and rely on the integrity of the captains and players but in golf even now I think could be trusted. B gives the team needing a sub a huge advantage in theory of bringing in a fresh player. C feels extremely unfair. A you could argue benefits the other team as they lose their worst player (at least according to the captain).

I suppose you could have option D where you keep the format the same but have a team of more than 12 so someone doesn’t play the singles which feels worse than what we have now.

In most sports a default means you concede the game.

To my knowledge America has always been.a fairly violent place..I see no reason to make a political point while talking about a amazing sporting event
Think of blaming the leader of all country's for.amy sporting event that gets a bit rowdy. It this type of crazy talk that gets things so heated.
Also the world is a crazy violent place sport is ment to be a area where one dan experience and express pride in your.team or nation. Nothing to do with who is the POTUS .

Agreed. It has zilch to do with who the president is. Its a competition for the love of god. Europe won, go on and celebrate.

Patrons also shouldn't be throwing beer bottles, inexcusable and no room for that. Also good on Rory for turning around and telling the idiot to F off. Fair play to him.

Trying to tie a bunch of drunk fans behavior (almost all verbal) to the who the president is has quite literally zero correlation or relevance, whatsoever. See what happens inside and outside an NFL stadium on a Sunday? This looked like a school picnic compared to what regularly occurs at those games, and has occurred at US sporting events for decades.

Again, not saying this behavior is right, but the shock and abhorrent reaction to some drunks yelling at the Europeans and the laughable attempt at tying it to who the President is, is really quite telling of some intellectual capacity.

Europe won the trophy, go enjoy it!

To be fair, as far as I can see, the person YOU have replied to is in agreement with you

Sorry - I agree with the previous posters comment regarding the ridiculous connection.

I added my other thoughts for others to see or comment back on.
