C'mon Europe....atmosphere is likely to brutal. Moral highground grasped with Americans now being paid to play. Essential to finish tomorrow equal at least i reckon.

It crossed my mind that with the way things are in the US currently, the PGA may have had a quiet word in a few ears and asked not to humiliate the American team in case it turned real ugly there. Trump wanted that trophy too, for his desk, so there may still be a story to be told in the coming weeks.
The World Cup could be a real clusterfück too.

They will be very quiet about the World Cup I reckon.
There is always the chance they could go out in the group stages without winning or scoring a goal etc.
Trump will be miles away from that scene

Might get spicy if they are drawn against a team from the Middle East, lets see if FIFA want to rig the groups to avoid this.

tbh with all this ICE nonsense I'd love to USA rattled by Mexico 7-0 ;D

It seemed like even the officials went home before the trophy was awarded - was it the plan all along for that English lady to present the trophy?

No disrespect to her but am guessing Trump's helicopter was on standby and when it didn't happen they got her to do the whole thing. He's probably calling them all losers on the X at this moment :)

Not only that

The US PGA Chairman was clueless when he said he we had 'retained' the cup - WRONG mate, we won it

Never disappointed with this site - A thread about the Ryder Cup turns into one about ICE and 47? Never change.

Well done Europe for getting the job done.

Great evening's entertainment, was never in doubt

Not surprisingly the US came back hard and dominated the singles. Just highlights I think how they play more as individuals, Europe pairs were spot on and it seemed Donald had a better feeling than Bradley which pairings would work well.

As mentioned I think a lot of the Europe players were mentally drained by the intensity and abuse of the first two days, but they got over the line. Superb.

Luke Donald's a genius and he really needs retaining.

Every last detail he covered, which matters. Even down to getting Hovland out the singles, when you only need 2.5 points then 0.5 guaranteed was massive. I bet he would have played if we had been trailing.

Love it.

Bradley it seems fell into the trap previous American captains have in thinking putting two of the world's best golfers into a pair automatically gets you the point in the match. I know it's a blind draw but a case in point is one of the foursomes matches on the opening morning. Scheffler and Henley 1 & 3 in the world getting their arses handed to them 5 & 3 by Aberg and Fitzpatrick (16 & 29).

There are interesting correlations between the US fans behavior and the behavior that MAGA seems to encourage. Never seen spectators at golf behave like that before.

Yes, fair and relevant comment on this thread. You can't just bury your head in the sand and pretend these things are not connected.

It's hardly much of a stretch to include golf-nut Trump in a Ryder Cup thread - he was out there on Friday giving Dechambreu a shoulder rub at the first tee!

Also to add, just last week Trump was saying how he wants the worst for his 'enemies'... these things are all related. It creates an us vs everyone else mindset to the extreme.

I think with the numbers streaming out as soon as Lowry putted it shows these weren’t real lovers of the sport in the way European fans will/would be, especially considering the prices. A home UK/Irish crowd would be passionate and cheering on Europe but would have far more respect for golf and elite golfers of any nationality. I also think if one or two were out of line they’d be quickly put in their place by others watching.

I don't know about that tbh

Brookline in 99 also had many unsavoury moments with American fans crossing the line

Nonsense that's the whole problem people putting their own political biases on to a game. The yanks have always been like this in sport. 1999 springs to.mind. It like saying Millwall away is due to stamer being an Arsenal supposed fan !! It was a passionate ryder cup which bring the best out in all the golfers. It called passion that's why peole go. Am sure you have informed politely certain players/teams/fans that they are slighty annoying you some what ?

I see that Bradley wants the rules changed about absent players. Can you imagine how they’d be whining if that 1/2 point only enabled us to retain the cup instead of winning it by a whole point?

I believe he was alluding to prevailing trend of hostility and aggression that is sweeping across many parts of America in a hitherto unknown level.

what a dramatic final day, usa do usually win the singles but i never expected us to struggle to get the 2 pts needed , 5 hrs! fleetwod was 4 up and lost, fitzpatrick 5 up and didn't win?? rahm, tommy, rory and rose looked shattered half way round and as the board went redder and we lost points, the question, have we blown it? crossed my mind. but finally got over the line to end up winners 15-13 .

as for behavior, it is getting worse, this is golf, not darts, soccer . rory's wife had beer thrown over her and she's a yank !! personal abuse and delays , not good, last day state police and dogs brought in, for golf ffs!?????

how long before a player gets a whack? then someone was giving out squeaky ducks with drinks, i mean what did they expect, people not to use them during play? idiots.
they are bullies and bullies don't like being stood up too, how sweet to see the stands and areas evac when we retained cup, fire drill in motion! cheerio.
dramatic stuff , never thought i'd still be watching 6 hrs later on last day.
2 years for golf, organisers, players to discuss future events in usa , all goes back to Brookline with wags running over greens and get in the hole started .

As they also did in Minnesota in 2016. But hey it's all 47's and MAGA's doing instead of America's frat boy culture.

Park your TDS and enjoy the glorious European win folks.

Absolutely, but he's right though (had to be right about something eventually, didn't he). Farcical rule, which we clearly pushed right to the boundaries. No-one can tell me he wouldn't have played if we were 2 points down!

To my knowledge America has always been.a fairly violent place..I see no reason to make a political point while talking about a amazing sporting event
Think of blaming the leader of all country's for.amy sporting event that gets a bit rowdy. It this type of crazy talk that gets things so heated.
Also the world is a crazy violent place sport is ment to be a area where one dan experience and express pride in your.team or nation. Nothing to do with who is the POTUS .

The Americans late fightback that just failed was similar to Borussia Munchengladbach trailing 6-0 to Eintracht Frankfurt at the weekend as the game ended 6-4 with a late fighback by the home team. Basically Frankfurt won the first half 5-0 and Gladbach won the second half 4-1. Totally bonkers.
