No no, not sure where you got 25 years from lol….probably just the last 5 I’ve not been much, to be honest not much since the dreaded red debacle so 10 years ish. As I’ve said, I’m quite shocked we still have 20,000 turning up, incredibly loyal considering the woeful couple of years. I will go again when Tan sells up, and he will soon I think, he’s old and his kids aren’t interested.
I don’t mean to “mock” your crowds either, surely it’s a bit surprising we were getting 6/7/8k more?
I think I worked out the main issue, you are missing us right? It ain’t quite the same without us fluffing about in the same league? Derby with the gogs? Nahhhh I don’t think so, different country.

Wasn’t the published attendance for the Burton game c.15k?

Clearly I wasn’t there but as an act of good old schardenfreude I watched the highlights and correct me if I’m wrong, at that number the ground should be half full. From what I saw it was nearly empty! At least the Lib looks and sounds better because it appears to be quite full.

And no, I don’t miss the Derby games in any way, shape or form. If we never played each other again it would be too soon. I hated those games and I had more reason than yourself to look forward to them😂

From the post where you said you’d been to most of the grounds in your league but not for 25 years. Unless you meant you stopped going away 25 years ago. A lot of them have been Championship or PL in that time

Yes, you did mean to ‘mock’ our crowds. It’s all you’ve got now given the comparative state of the clubs and you cling on to it despite never contributing to an attendance yourself

Miss Cardiff? I looked forward to the derby days certainly. I enjoyed your relegation immensely though. I certainly wouldn’t want you to come back up just so we could do another double.

The 2023/24 season when Leicester got promoted we played them last at home in Oct 2023, Duff's team had started getting a couple of positive results playing relatively attacking football with Grimes, Paterson and Platino as our midfield trio but instead of having them in the successful pressing role we stood off in the middle of the park for fear of their attacking threat, which is fine if you make sure the marking at the back is tight, it was Dewsbury-Hall given space as he made runs between the winger and centre forward which caused problems because he wasn't tracked by the midfield or Cullen who was played at right winger, meaning our centre half and full back were caught in no mans land trying to mark three players hence the conceding of three goals from similar moves.

We see the same issues at times with the present team full backs caught between marking tight on the wingers or supporting the centrehalves often having the wingers running at them pushing the team back into the penalty area allowing crosses in or rash challenges borne out of desperation or having the opposition capitalising on mistakes or pressure. If we are going to adopt a defensive set up we really need to get our full backs closer to their opposition wingers letting the midfield picking up the players in the middle otherwise we get penned in playing rushed clearance out of defensive which doesn't get to our forwards or into space that our forwards can attack making us toothless, our second goal came from bad play from Blackburn not anything we created out from defensive in fact they spurned a chance just before because of miscontrol having opened us up and then from our clearance they had control of the ball but their mistake was clinically capitalised on.
Can we keep on getting our marking wrong when teams have to attack us because their fans demand it being their home game or they have fallen behind?

Oof put my serious cap on, you sound like a headteacher in 1947.
Yes been to many lower league grounds as went away a lot in my teens and twenties, not so much since we e been in the championship and PL, the buzz faded as I got older and wiser and I had other fulfilling things to do. Hope that clears it up for you sir?
Things change quick in football, just look at Sunderland, Forest and Ipswich to name a few.

Leicester are dangerous out wide so we will have to mark tight not give them space . Their defence is cumbersome at times Faes more mobile than Westergard so if we can move them around they are vulnerable . Yalcouye would be ideal for this , nimble , quick interplay linking with Vipotnik / Ronald. If we can keep them under sustained pressure it will keep their widemen quiet . Leicester also score late goals so we will have to keep concentrating until the 96 th minute WBA found this out -the goal coming from a low cross into the 6 yard box . Stamenic will have his work cut out stifling the forward runs of Ayew as a lot of their play goes through him .

Pretty good summing up of them I watched the West Brom game they keep possession well and are really sharp on the wings.

Decordova Reid is back for them a real handful

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

To be fair, you asked where I got 25 years from and I told you which post you wrote it in.

Not everyone is into football, just those that aren’t, don’t generally get obsessed with how many people go to other teams games.

Pretty sorry state of affairs when that’s all you’ve got. I’d be ashamed to brag about my team having 20,000 more committed fans than me

I don’t go on any Cardiff sites now. I certainly wouldn’t if they were vastly better than us

3500 empty seats.
The marketing is awful. Absolutely awful.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Think it is supporter apathy that is awful. Too many just want to stay at home watching it either on Sky or worse still doggy streams.

100% right. Cost aside, I’ll never understand why people prefer watching a stream than travelling a couple of miles to be at the game

I’ve said as much myself
Swansea have no co petition now rugby is virtually dead from the neck up the marketing is shite though but folk should know when games are these days
It is really worrying and needs really challenging
Fans have had let fiend but we’ve seen good money go in now so we really could be on the cusp of greater things
In 79 , the momentum was palpable
Those days saw massive economic decline and the weathers just as crap
Christmas , school holidays and hours of daylight were the same then

It doesn’t help when done fans look down on others

We need to unite

Properly

It beats hoping bbc wales had a second half on with Richard Jack hating Shepherd commentating
Then we had Paltalk with legendary ePaul

But yeah , folks should there whilst they still can

Anyway , let’s see this lot off today

You mention 1979, a couple of years later during our second season in the top flight attendances dwindled drastically. I remember when relegation was inevitable some home attendances were down to the 11k mark.

I was however referring to the momentum when we fly
I’m off for a swim now but back well in time

Many people living locally dont know when there is a home game. You would be surprised at how many this week asked me if the Swans are hone this weekend. Last week supporters even missed the kick off because there was no publicity regarding the 12.30 ko., yes they should know but it emphasises the lack of publicity and promotion. The days of a week long build up in the Evening Post are long gone.

That is absolutely forking shocking
We have internet
Football is all around us
We have a job on our hands
Making tickets more easily available would be a start

The argument that tickets are hard to get doesn't sit well with me. Certainly they're more easily available than they used to be when you had to go and see Moira. Within minutes I can buy them via an app on my phone.

I do think more could be done to make it easier for a walk up crowd. Automated ticket kiosks are certainly technically possible. Tap your card and get a printed ticket with a QR code that can be scanned at the turnstile.

I don't think the idea that the games aren't well publicised holds much either. Hardly anyone reads the Evening Post anymore and there's certainly no shortage of information about games, kick off times etc available online.

Ultimately our crowds are about the same as they were the last time we were early in a playoff chasing season and perhaps even a little higher. As we get towards the business end of the season if we're still in contention the part timers will start coming out of the woodwork again. It is what it is.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

A cash sale desk needs to be introduced. Lots, low earners etc, draw cash out so they know where they are.
Ticket outlets in other places, Carmarthen, Llandeilo etc would boost sales.
Some don't do Internet. They are buggered.
Make it easy for fans, not hard.

What about 3 or 4 strategically located electronic billboards? A countdown on the number of days & hours until the next home game with the number of available tickets. Direct those interested to a ticket office. Have a webpage on the official Swansea City AFC website doing the same.
