I’m extremely concerned that our XG is 0.11 to Southampton’s 2.21. We have a manager who is as negative and backward thinking as some of our previous with no real idea how to set up an attacking team. Here’s a hint for him - pick an aggressive attacking midfielder and drop Stamenic who after a brilliant couple of games in the beginning had become as ineffective as Fulton.

We are nowhere near a top 6 side, let’s get that out of our thought patterns now. That’s not a knee jerk reaction after today either.
It was an awful, lethargic, disjointed but lucky beyond lucky point. The point I’ll take, the performance will d=see us lose more than win or even draw.
We are at the 10 game mark, enough seen for the first performance report of the season. I’ll be kind to Sheehan and rate it as ‘could do better’ but really it’s worse than that. He has to start getting something out of this squad and soon. |  |

I agree I expected a lose. Quite frankly though that performance was awful. It couldve been 4 or 5 goals any other day. We are getting worse as a team and look disjointed. With the summers investment in players with quality, to be on the same points as this time last season under Luke is a real sobering thought and a serious issue if it carries on | | | |

A draw away is normally considered a"good" result but that wasn't , a really dreadful performance , disjointed, leathagic with no distinguish able pattern of how we wanted to play, I hoped with the subs coming on we'd at least we would compete when closing down but with the exception of once or twice it always seemed that Southampton wanted the ball more.
I'm not where near joining (if there is one) AS out brigade but he now need to show why the owners gave him the chance full-time,time is short in football terms I hope AS remembers that. | |

So we are 10 games in and I feel there are more questions than answers. Is Sheehan the coach to get the best out of the squad? Are the players brought in during the last window actually as good as first thought [Galbraith aside]. As Keith has said our owners are ruthless and after the summer investment who would blame them if they wanted answers from the coaching staff and the recruitment team. Something is not working, will they be happy if we continue in the same trajectory, will they give it time or will they make changes, will that be coaching or recruitment something is not right. No I do not think we should be top 6 but the performances should be better bearing in mind the summer investment. As supporters we are frustrated possibly the owners are more so. |  | | |

There was only one open goal clear chance, one in the first half where the ball came at him very quickly and behind him.
I can tell you one thing, I am not one eyed, I will give managers time unlike some on here..
Sheehan has got a decent squad, he should be more positive.
If we arent playing well, winning more than losing by Xmas i wont be happy and I suspect the board wont be either.

On the face of it, that’s a great result.
In reality, it was a dismal performance and Southampton should have been out of sight by half time. If it was a one off, I think most of us would be happy with the point, but we’re looking disjointed most weeks.
However you dress it up, Sheehan should be getting more out of this group of players.

Not saying we’re playing as eleven individuals, but we don’t function as a team either.
We looked ok when we nicked possession and broke forward, but when we actually had to construct an attack, it was no better or more creative than Martin or Williams football. Slow probing passes until they got everyone behind the ball and we went backwards then across to the other side. We’ve got better players than that.
I’m a big believer in the manager works with these players every day, so I haven’t questioned the exclusion of Widell and Bobby Wales, but what we’re doing at the moment isn’t working. | | | |
