I don't think i've ever seen a Cardiff rugby supporter come on this forum and admit that the WRU favour Cardiff simply because they are Cardiff.
It's nothing to do with if they've ever won anything. Nothing to do with the fact that the Ospreys have been the most successful team. It has to be Cardiff simply because they are Cardiff. That's it.
It's the same with the Senedd. If investment has to happen it has to be in Cardiff simply because it's Cardiff.
When Labour are kicked out of power next May this will hopefully change. I urge every Plaid voter to contact anyone they know in the party and put and keep the pressure on to ensure things change when Plaid are in power. |  | | |

The Ospreys have obviously been the most "at risk" since this whole situation started. Cardiff and Newport signed the WRU deal so they're relatively safe (plus, yes, there's no way they'lll do anything without a team in Cardiff).
It's just then between the two Western Clubs, and Llanelli have both bigger attendances and a ground they can call their own. What The Ospreys have done in the past is completely irrelevant when the plan is about what to do going forward.
It's all rather irrelevant anyway because barring a significant shift in interest by sporting youth, or a complete cratering in performance of the club football teams, Rugby in Wales has about 10-15 years to go before it hits the same level as Rugby in Italy, and the National Team along with it. |  |

As a past big All Whites fan I'm getting to the stage where I really don't give a flying v to Welsh Rugby...Get rid of the Ospreys and I really won't give a damn about the National team either. It’s unreal. I nearly choked when I read “ We now look forward to exploring the wider detail and working collaboratively to help shape the future of professional rugby in Wales as we approach our 150th anniversary season.”
Cardiff Rugby is a new entity that’s been around for 20 odd years, Cardiff RFC are the club who’ve been around almost a century and a half. When the WRU set up the Super Club Rugby competition a couple of years ago, 10 teams applied, 9 were successful including 3 from the Ospreys region Aberavon, Bridgend and Swansea. Neath applied but were rejected.
Cardiff RFC (along with Pontypridd and Merthyr the latter being 2 of the most successful clubs in the last 7 or 8 seasons) decided they weren’t going to apply and the 3 teams held out against the competition. After Neath were bombed out, the league was 1 team short so the WRU reopened the application process, this time Neath and Cardiff applied - guess who got the place? Yes Cardiff, whole thing IMHO stinks.
If the West goes down to 1 team, in terms of the facilities the team should be based at PYS because it will be a better ground than ST Helens which will be half its size, BUT in terms of financial muscle, businesses, Swansea and Neath and Port Talbot which would be more closely aligned are much bigger than Llanelli. The current Scarlets region is supposed to draw on West Wales, but even then I don’t think they’d have the financial muscle.
Kicking the can down the road doesn’t help anyone, let’s be honest if you were the Ospreys or one of their benefactors would you redevelop St Helens now knowing the Os could be dead and buried in a year or 2.

J, if they drop the Ospreys which is likely that's the end of Welsh Rugby, that all started with the birth of the Senedd being totally blind to anything outside of Cardiff and the WRU are following the same pact drill,
