With apologies to that geezer Tennyson.
Anyone think we'll get anything ?
They won't be as rough as Wall.
2-1 to us.

A very odd feeling after that win

Plus side
3 points
Bounce back win
Up to 8th
Madsen best player on the pitch by a long way
Burrell great finish
Chair reminding us about how good we are
JS given a vision of how we can change game shape when we struggle

Cons
50 mins of pissballing
Kone very ineffective (have teams worked him out)
Left back a problem for us
Not enough killer instinct
Nardi gives me palpitations
The kit should be in the bin

A point at derby and that will be another decent 3 game week

Urrrrrrs

We made the end of the match more difficult than it should have been, but upto the 88th minute Swansea didn't have a chance.

We've played 5 of the teams in the top 6 & have beaten 3 of them, but have only managed 2 draws against teams in the bottom 4. I've no idea what to expect against Derby!

Kone’s ball retention was awful tonight.

Chair made a huge difference when he came on. Still a class above any of the new boys. Control, movement, crisp, sharp passing.

Chair playing as the 10 in front of Madsen will make us tick far better. Question is, where does Burrell play, especially when Poku is fit.

A good problem to have and that is why a good manager will make the right selections.....it isn't easy at all when you have a squad like we have.

Good win, but how does JS build in a killer instinct?

It’s one thing taking your foot off the pedal if you know you can take back control, but we cannot do that. The runs stopped, we stood off, and if we want to challenge at the top we’ve got to be better than that.

Hate to say this after an away win but it is frustrating.

When we are frustrated after a win it shows how far we have come

Ok, now I’ve calmed down ….great and welcome 3 points.
The league table looks bloomin great at the moment .
Long may that continue .

I thought we did ok first half . Let them have a lot of the ball but they did nothing with it and we looked very comfortable. Nice and compact yet looked dangerous when we went forward .

Messaged my dad and son at half time saying I’m more nervous now they’ve had someone sent off than if they still had 11 men.
What is that?
That mentality has to change because we all knew it was coming ..and it did.
Second half we were passive , too deep, stopped pressing , not tracking runners ….until Ilias came on. And then all of a sudden we could keep the bloody ball.

Why do we find it so hard against 10 men? Or to put it another why can’t we deal very well with the expectation of winning the match ? Not just this team.
But years and decades before it !

Anyhow we should have put the game to bed long before the end .
Cook, Chair , Dunne and oh my goodness me Varane 😩. These chances we should be scoring .
The last 10 minutes I spent yelling at my tv as we lost all ability to do any of the basics right . Got deeper and deeper. Sat off of 10 men and really were lucky to survive at the end .
That’s why people are a little frustrated . Happy we won of course , but we shouldn’t have to go through the wringer against a very very poor 10 men.
Keep the bloody football !!!

1 good 1 bad .
I thought Kone was poor tonight .
Would like to see a percentage stat of how many times he received the ball then lost it in that second half . Not surprised to see him hooked.
Maybe tiredness as he and Burrell do put in a hell of a shift .

I thought Madsen was outstanding this evening .
The amount of times he won the ball back as well as the only one vaguely able to keep the ball until Chair came on .
So impressive in his defensive positioning and reading the game .
Becoming more and more important by the week .

Really is about time he has a song .

It sounds a bit negative but I’m buzzing on the 3 points . A win is a win.
Just frustrated at having to tear my hair out watching us play 10 men when all we need to do is do the bloody basics . 🤣

Win Saturday and we are right in amongst it .

Come on !!!!!!!!

We have a very nasty habit of not being able to score against 10 men so it was lucky we scored before they went down to 10 otherwise it probably would have ended 0-0. Hopefully we will be better at Derby as last season we were terrible at their place.

Arguably Swansea and Derby away were the worst performances on the road last season.

So even after tonight we are up from last year.

Did you not watch the last games we played for a long time against 10 men and didn’t win?
Enjoy the 3 points: we have a habit of not getting them in these circumstances.

I mean this is a fair point, we've always been lost against 10 men and this time we did actually do the job even if it wasn't pretty

Worth noting we've beaten 3 of the current top 6.

Yes but as good as he is he does need to improve his one on one with the keeper - even allowing for rustiness he should have buried that and as for Varanes shot…..

To be fair Varane didn't lash at the ball, he took his time and tried to place it.

His finish was Fieldesque. Pretty sure the keeper had it covered anyway.

That would work for Mbengue as well except everybody's terrified.

The crucial thing this time was we were winning when they were reduced to ten. Generally in the games we didn't win against 10 men we were not actually in front at the time of the sending off. It is an issue that we had 65 minutes to make the game safe and didn't. Swansea stayed in the game and had a go at the end with nothing to lose at such a late stage.

One thing that occurs to me: as a team we're not that used to success. Even the new guys that came in played for clubs that were struggling. Our more experienced QPR players have been largely fighting to stay in the division for the last few seasons.

I'm relatively optimistic as Rs fans go and even I'm waiting for it all to go down the plughole: match by match and overall in the league. What we haven't really had yet and which would break the spell somewhat is a really comprehensive couple of wins. Ones where we never really look in trouble and we score those goals we're currently missing. Imagine winning that game 4-0, which isn't unrealistic, then a workmanlike 2-0 at Derby; we start to believe we're a decent side and the next match we go in much more confident, we don't faff so much and we don't drop deep when we're ahead.

Just a thought but confidence is so massive in sport as is a winning mentality.

Ram raid, smash and grab where we left some of the money in the ATM but the cops didn’t catch us, yet. I’m even claiming that we scored from Paul Smyth’s long throw….eventually.

3 points in difficult conditions that we would never have picked up in previous seasons when we were not that good - or lucky. We would have struggled to buy a result like this in recent years, even as part of a BOGOF deal our credit score was too low.

Like scoring a half century in cricket where most of the runs come from edges and miss-fielding. It’s still in the scorebook and you take that all day long and hope it continues because one day you’ll have the complete opposite.

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?
