What should QPR do with Sam Field moving forward? on 14:20 - Oct 22 by BazzaInTheLoft
Our highest finish in this stint of the Championship was 11th when he ran the midfield.
He was good enough then. Short memories indeed.

This is exactly why I said as the team gets faster. All the players who are technically poor, not just Field, have struggled.
I don't care about when we came 11th, we finished 11th because Field was one of our better players. He isn't anymore which is why he has played only one game since Coventry. And he was dire in that.

Bring him on (for Madsen) to shut up shop and protect a lead. Nobody better than him for that role.
Progressive play is not his bag, as he simply doesnât bring enough to the party if we need a goal, although Varane isnât pulling up any trees either.
Field offers a goal threat from set pieces, something neither Verane, Hayden or Madsen do.

Everyone was dire at Coventry. We didnât lose at Coventry because Sam Field wasnât fast enough.
We move on from players, fine, but we are far from safe and far from a position that we can dismiss the Sam Fields of the world in such a disrespectful way.

It's more the rhetoric rather than the reasoning for me Bri.
Indeed.
I come back to it:
22/23; Playersâ & Fans Player of the Year - won both (won âyoungâ player of the year too) 23/24: Fansâ Player of the Year - Runner up 24/25: Playersâ Player of the Year - Runner up
Short memories for some.
If we think Sam Field is the problem, weâre asking the wrong question.
And looking to next yearâs squad (as the leadership should), Cook will be gone. Varane hopefully sold for >ÂŁ5m. Dunne, who knows? Who are your reliable, proven Champ experienced pros? Weâll need Field. The grass is rarely greener. And horses for courses will always be relevant.

Iâm betting he plays this evening. Probably starts too.
Had you has an early look at the teamsheet? Field in. At LB? No RND.

Completely agree.
I posted on here about 18 months ago that would Marti have to make a Decision on Sam Field if we wanted to step up to the next level of clubs in the championship . I think itâs a fair question still . There was a debate then as now , but as far as I can remember it remained respectful.
But the wording and the disrespect shown to a great servant and âplayer of the yearâ in recent times is the problem for me . Be critical but also come on! âFinished at QPR and rightly soâ isnât really an observation , itâs just a bit nasty really .

Well that was quite a nice answer wasnât it? Sam, having been completely bombed out and slagged off do you fancy doing a turn at left back in the pouring rain at Swansea on a Wednesday night? And, guess what? He does. And he was great at it. Park your disrespect.

Wtf? Really? Did they have a single decent attack down his flank? All their attacks and balls in came from their left, our right. Did his job.
He was fine. Ludicrous to say he was âabsolutely shiteâ. Just comes across like you have a predetermined opinion that youâll stick to regardless of what actually happens.

That's harsh Ham, proper harsh........whilst I do not think that he was outstanding tonight I thought he did a good job defensively overall at LB - cannot recall the wide player going round him once tbh, kept his position supported us going forward reasonably well, won some big tackles/blocks. Played his part in a good win. A good 6 I would say!!!
