The mainstand is sold out and there are about 150 tickets left in the Pearl Street. Hope that those that have reserved a free seat turn up on the night. Looking like another 3000+ gate.

Indeed. There are no seats left now - just the Sandy Lane terrace. The club may decide to open Wilbutts stand.

On the strength of the first 45, none of them. But they shouldn't see this kind of display from the first team eitger. Little at stake and little point tonight, really, except to qualify for the participation fee?

Looks to me (on the stream) like the grass has just been left longer than usual, so what looks 'bad' is just pressed down patches of grass.

Centre circle doesn't look great now and when United played a ball into that Sandy/Willbutts corner it actually held up. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

If they are being left on all the time its raining its no good for the pitch condition - even if it is keeping it dryer. As for the game - waste of time. Players getting a run out but many of them looked like they couldn't be arsed. Amantchi is looking awful and missed a glorious chance at the end with a woeful piece of finishing.

McNulty said that of all the competitions, FA Cup....FA Trophy ....and this National League Cup jobby, the latter was the most lucrative. All I know is the prize pot is £1 million quid. How much Dale will get after tonight, who knows?

It didn’t look like 2900 in the ground. The pitch was a real worry, the amount of spray coming up in the second half illustrates how poorly it is draining. We’ve not exactly had loads of rain. After the Southend postponement we were told that there would be a further detailed update on the pitch. Not seen this anywhere? https://rochdaleafc.co.uk/pitchupdate220925/

If Mani D got injured I'm sure we'd look for a better loan replacement - hopefully this doesn't occur.

No, but he'll be repeating what 'the accountant' told him. As posted above, the Premier League put £1 million into this competition, which will somehow be distributed among the 16 participating NL clubs. Whether we should be competing is a separate issue, but given in the past two seasons, we've won one FA Cup match, which is where the real prize money is, you can see why McNulty said what he apparently did. Prize money for the FA Trophy is paltry in comparison.

If we hope to use games like that to boost future attendances well I think the opposite might be true. It won't have persuaded the young Manure fans there to change allegiances. But, the stiffs need a meaningful run out from time to time, so, that alone makes me hope we can continue in the competition.

It would be good to know how that money is distributed and in particular how much we get. If its (close to) an equal distribution among participating clubs or if its weighted towards progress and winners. Obviously we arent taking any money at the gate...though we might be making a bit off food/drink. With increased attendence from free admission we might be paying out more in game day staff maybe. Then there is the toll on the much maligned pitch and risk of injuries. If the financial benefits are substantial (50k or more?) I wouldnt expect clubs to be ducking out of it.
