🇺🇸Presidential debate round 1 - “Matchday thread”🇺🇸 01:18 - Sep 29 with 234959 viewsDr_Parnassus

Who will be watching? First one kicks off in 24 hours time.

The Democrats have pulled Joe back from his campaign trail recently to get him prepared, so hopefully it will be a decent exchange.

Unfortunately they don’t seem to have great confidence as they have spent the last month looking for any dirt they can dig up so Joe can use if he gets stuck.

It’s no coincidence that this vote influencing Facebook algorithm story is being shamelessly and inaccurately made into a race issue on the eve of the debates. So transparent and disingenuous, it’s a shame politics has come to this on this level where black people are being used in this way to score political points. I would be furious if I was them, but it does seem a lot of people are not falling for this one and calling it out for what it is.

People finally seem to be getting wise to this political race baiting which is refreshing to see.

It’s also telling that in the week of the debate they try and paint Trump as a tax evasion offender. I think that’s what they wanted the tax returns to show, they seem to have got annoyed when it turns out his tax returns were fine in accordance to what his companies profits were - but decided to run with it anyway. Any news is good news in their mind as it’s another thing Joe can use when in a tricky spot.

But I hope the discussions remain political and doesn’t turn into some form of gossip peddling reality TV episode.

Although I think there should be some kind of drinking game involved if it does turn that way, how many times Biden completely loses his thread of thought and blurts out “I mean, think about it...” you have to take a shot.

I will be watching with great interest anyway.

No they don't brief us, which includes you, that doesn't stop you screaming fraud friom the rafters.

"In a video viewed almost 9 million times, McDaniel, who is from Michigan, says that the Antrim County clerk reported that about 6,000 votes cast for Trump were counted for Biden instead. McDaniel complained that 47 Michigan counties use the Dominion Voting Systems software and urged those counties to “closely examine their results for similar discrepancies.”

However, in an explanation titled “False statements from Ronna McDaniel have no merit,” the Michigan Department of State said the error resulted when the Antrim County clerk accidentally didn’t update the software “used to collect voting machine data and report unofficial results.”

The department said county clerks use election management system software to combine electronic totals from tabulators and submit a report of unofficial results.

"Because the clerk did not update software, even though the tabulators counted all the ballots correctly, those accurate results were not combined properly when the clerk reported unofficial results," the department said.

The department explained there are fail-safes to ensure ballots are counted accurately. Paper ballots are retained and a totals tape, showing the count for each candidate, is printed from each machine. Had the county clerk not noticed the mistake, it would have been caught when the Board of County Canvassers, made up of two Republicans and two Democrats, reviewed the vote totals from each machine with the overall county figures, according to the Department of State. "

They don't need to be. They just need to be enough to show what an awful election process it is when there is such partisan sides. The investigation is only just underway and the error count is in the thousands, from once single district they have audited.

I'm not sure why you believe thousands upon thousands of vote numbers are erroneous and common. You cant have much faith in democracy if you think they are acceptable and normal.

"In a case in Montgomery county, Pennsylvania, the lawyer Jonathan Goldstein, who has his own law firm, was attempting to have 592 mail-in ballots thrown out because of “irregularities” with the ballots’ outer envelopes.

A judge pressed Goldstein on whether he was alleging voter fraud.

“I am asking you a specific question, and I am looking for a specific answer,” the judge said. “Are you claiming that there is any fraud in connection with these 592 disputed ballots?”

“To my knowledge at present, no,” Goldstein said.

“Are you claiming that there is any undue or improper influence upon the elector with respect to these 592 ballots?” asked the judge.

Goldstein replied: “To my knowledge at present, no.”"

It's strange you take people's word as so important when it suits yet don't wish to acknowledge the same sort of words as sworn affidavits under the penalty of perjury.

I am starting to think you are not as impartial as you may wish to come across and have fallen firmly in the DJack ''any link will do, if it remotely sounds like it is for Biden'' camp.

Am I right?

"So those affidavits Trump supporters are screaming over are based on having little or no idea of the vote counting process as they didn't undertake the training...

"A Michigan judge rejected a lawsuit by supporters of President Donald Trump seeking to block certification of the election results in Detroit and surrounding Wayne County, ruling claims that counting of ballots there was plagued by widespread fraud were groundless.

Circuit Court Judge Timothy Kenny ruled Friday that the suit failed to show why he should halt the certification or order an audit of the vote tally in Michigan’s largest city, which voted heavily in favor of President-Elect Joe Biden. Major media outlets declared Biden the winner of Michigan and its 16 electoral votes last week, and he leads the vote count by more than 146,000 votes.

Kenny analyzed several affidavits claiming widespread fraud at the TCF Center in Detroit, and criticized them as either “rife with speculation and guess-work about sinister motives,” an example of “generalized speculation,” or “not credible.” He said their expert “paled in comparison” to the city’s expert, Christopher Thomas, a former state director of elections.

“Plaintiffs rely on numerous affidavits from election challengers who paint a picture of sinister fraudulent activities occurring both openly in the TCF Center and under the cloak of darkness,” Kenny wrote in a 13-page opinion. “The challengers’ conclusions are decidedly contradicted by the highly respected” Thomas.

By not attending an Oct. 29 training session, the complaining challengers “did not have a full understanding of the TCF absent ballot tabulation process,” according to the judge.

“No formal challenges were filed,” Kenny wrote. “However, sinister, fraudulent motives were ascribed to the process and the city of Detroit. Plaintiffs’ interpretation of events is incorrect and not credible.”

The Trump campaign has filed a similar lawsuit in federal court in Michigan seeking to halt certification of the state’s results based on allegations of fraud, largely in Wayne County. It is also suing to block certification of the election results in Pennsylvania, likewise alleging fraud in Democratic-leaning cities and counties in that state.

Wayne County provided a large part of Biden’s margin, casting 587,074 votes for Biden, compared with 264,149 for Trump, according to the county’s unofficial results.

At a hearing before Kenny on Wednesday, a lawyer for the city of Detroit warned against any order that boosted Trump’s “unsubstantiated conspiratorial theories” of voter fraud. “There’s nothing to support it,” attorney David Fink argued. “But the outcome undermines the very bedrock of our democracy, the faith of the people in the democratic process.”

What point are you making DJack? Speak in your own words, stop relying on copy and pasting so we can guess what it is you are trying and failing to say.

Again, in those factual and correct points you are quoting from me - where are you seeing claims that you now feel are incorrect?

Tumbleweed.... What a shock

A dishonest debater will always crumble when asked to state their opinion clearly and get into specifics. They feel far safer making vague accusations that they don’t have to be clear on.

So for those watching who come into similar dishonest people.

Specifics = kryptonite.

No they didn't.

Wayne Country refused to certify it then reversed after it was going to the State of Michigan to decide.

That's a huge win and grounds for clear appeal as there are more votes than registered voters.

Not according to the Detroit News and any other online report I'm reading.

https://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/politics/2020/11/17/wayne-county-canvasse

"Unbalanced precincts have historically been a problem in Detroit, where 72 percent of poll books in the August primary were out of balance. In the 2016 presidential election – when Donald Trump won the state and the presidency – a state audit in Detroit found a series of mismatched Detroit vote totals in the presidential election, attributing them to human error and not to widespread voter fraud.

During that presidential election, 71 percent of precincts could not be balanced, but the audit reduced the magnitude of the discrepancies "significantly." "

DETROIT – At first, it seemed like a win for President Trump's supporters: The Wayne County Board of Canvassers deadlocked Tuesday night over whether to certify the results of the presidential election in the populous Democratic county, punting the question to a state regulatory board.

In a tweet, Trump campaign lawyer Jenna Ellis called it a “huge win” for the president, who has not conceded the presidential race and who has made false accusations of voter fraud.

But hours later, the board – composed of two Republicans and two Democrats – reversed itself, unanimously agreeing to certify the results and ask the secretary of state to conduct an independent audit. The about-face left Democrats and voting rights advocates cheering.
