Grooming gangs 13:36 - Apr 11 with 7222 views | Boundy | I see that the government are not going to insist on a national enquiry but will leave it to local councils to look into the national scandal which has been the abuse of young white girls , which imo is a disgrace in itself considering the collusion of some police officers and officials.

Grooming gangs on 10:39 - Jun 15 by Dr_Winston | Cass was a different report. That was the one about gender fanatics drugging and surgically mutilating disturbed young children. This is about a different set of young children being abused by a different group of people. |
Yes, it was a senior moment. I heard Louise Casey interviewed on the radio about the content of the latest report but just typed the wrong name. [Post edited 15 Jun 12:16]

Grooming gangs on 19:50 - Jun 14 by Dr_Winston | The Prime Minister was basically left with no choice but to announce a National Inquiry into grooming gangs even though he's been desperately trying to avoid one for political reasons. |
Didn’t he very recently describe the issue as “a right wing dog whistle”? The guy isn’t fit for the role. Hopefully this will be the end of him.

Grooming gangs on 11:04 - Apr 19 by Gwyn737 | I completely agree with you about the savings/pensions. It’s the WFA I was on about, which was incredibly poorly set out. It should have been means tested but I stand by thinking there are millions who didn’t need it. Same argument with child benefit. You rightly (imo) don’t get when you earn over x amount. As for the teacher pension, although it’s nothing like as good as it was, it’s still a fantastic benefit. If anything, it’s a bit too back loaded and isn’t keeping people in the profession. They’d be better off slimming it down and improving wages - this would help get people in in the first place. I can’t tell you how hard it is to get teachers at the moment. I also would say that 47 years is an extreme example and not really feasible, especially if you’re a Reception teacher - crawling around role play areas at 69 isn’t much fun! "I also would say that 47 years is an extreme example and not really feasible, especially if you’re a Reception teacher - crawling around role play areas at 69 isn’t much fun!" Not really feasible for a teacher to work for 47yrs dear me, my heart bleeds for the poor dabs. What about those who work in industry and Builders, Electricians, Plumber/Gas engineers crawling around on all fours working in tight spaces, climbing ladders, I'm in my 48th year off working in the sector of jobs above [like millions of others] and I can't officially finish until I'm virtually 67 and I've got to renew a few technical qualifications between now and then as well. Sounds like something he'd say. No doubt that he'll try to frame it as him reviewing the evidence and changing his opinion when he's clearly been against the idea from Day One. If Labour were clear in the polls we wouldn't be having one now either. The Conservatives don't have their hands clean either. 14 years in power and they did nothing because they were a bunch of wet blankets masquerading under the Tory name.

I was only talking about very specific examples, Max. In secondary and upper primary it’s fine. I don’t think in most cases a 69 year old can track in reception.

Retirement age should be based on the industry they work in, 67 is to old to do the type of work like I mentioned, like many others I suffer with my joints knees in particular, back and recently neck pains.

Got out of Industry British Steel , Corus , TATA after 48 years aged 60 , the pension scandals that followed were a nightmare for decent ex colleagues , TATA washed their hands of us . I could not mentally and physically do a 12 hour night shift anymore with even more demands for targets to be met with less of a team , I was lucky to get out . Public and Civil servants have a nailed on Pension scheme with a percentage rise annually without any risk to their potential interest , some might deserve it , others I very much doubt , I know a fella who rubs his hands on his monthly Civil Service payment . There again I see folk having a mobility car without a really disabled passenger .

What's a "really disabled passenger" look like ?? Physically - mentally disabled?? Can you tell, by just looking at a person??

Lets just say I know a person is abusing the mobility car system . The rules are the disabled person must be in the car when driven by the driver , it should only be used for that purpose . If that rule is being abused to commuter a healthy driver alone something is wrong with the system . And yes I see some challenging and difficult people who do need real help daily .

There are reports of some local authorities spending significant eight figure sums every year transporting individual special needs children to school when their parents already have a mobility car.

I knew there was a big spend there but I didn't think it would be 650k. If local authorities are really spending over 10,000,000 on taxis for parents who also have free cars, that is mind boggling.

The local authorities where most of these crimes have taken place appear to be largely Labour or Lib Dem controlled in any case.
