We just can't ever seem to build any momentum with one manager.

Warburton lasted 3 season which was pretty amazing. I really hoped Marti had time to put at least a good foundation here, but we are not at that point yet and now the entire rebuild starts again.

Klopp, Pep, Sir Alex, Wenger ... the top "projects" don't change managers willy nilly.

We'll be back here in (at most) two years time going through the whole thing again.

I came on here a couple of weeks ago asking for pointers to legit Premier League football data to help the future son-in-law get data for his Masters in computer science. He was showing it to me and as he is someone who comes from a background with no interest in sport, he was amazed at how obvious were my predictions about longevity of management + income and investment over the period of 20+ years leads to sustained success.

We just cannot pull out of the rinse and repeat of hire and fire/lose managers and run on a shoestring budget.

Poll: With no leg room, knees killing me, do I just go now or stay for the 2nd half o?

I think the Dunne part and some of the other contracts were obvious, Dunne was never going to sign a deal unless he knew who the manager was going to be and I'm sure like many of us he was not confident it would be Marti.

You can imagine a scenario where Marti goes to West Brom, he takes Dunne with him , because he will play him, and Furlong comes the other way as part of the compensation package.

I don't think its that complex. Jimmy Dunne wants to sign a long contract on more money than he is on now. I think QPR have offered him an extension of what he's on for a couple of years, which isn't what Jimmy wants.

If he leaves on a free his next club can give him a large signing on fee, as they won't have to pay a transfer fee.

So,
longer contract, more money + signing on fee
is greater than what he was offered by QPR.

I don't think the players even give a toss if they play every week, and probably even less who the coach is/will be
--Unless its a manager who gives them Wednesday off or something similar, or maybe a coach they worked with before they don't like?

It's not just that.
Outside of the Champ the permitted losses to income are greater. So the owners can invest (lose) more money if they wish.

Wrexham will have to go balls out for the Prem now, as they won't be able to survive in the Champ if they carry on with the business model of being the "big league bullys" which is how they got promotion previously.

They are just a Ali-Express version of Man City.

Please don't buy into any of the bollox. The hollywood owners have not risked one penny of their personal wealth on this project.

They have been paid to make a TV show and used that money to run the club.

Fairytale my arse

Their L2 accounts they only lost £2m despite having a wage bill higher then half the championship. They’ll have been able to renegotiate I’m sure some sponsorships for this season in L1 and again for the Championship.

As said previously on another thread, it’s a huge house of cards that lives and dies on the ongoing hype/show interest in the states. The second that dies out, theyll be fcked and plummet back through the leagues as Reynolds won’t hang around and he’s the real money there. They’ll be amongst the top payers next season in the Championship though so they’ve got a chance of doing very well again.

I think it matters to many who their boss is. Jimmy is an unorthodox right back if you have a manager coming in who wants pacy attacking fullbacks what happens to Dunne? He becomes 4th choice CB and occasional RB. Footballers generally want to play. Dunne's value is the highest it has ever been. If I was him, I would not have signed, I would be wanting to know the manager situation (and they would have known things were not rosy) and I would be wanting to make sure that I am playing for a manager that wants me and will use me. Whether that is Marti or another team that is signing him for his strengths.

Ironically if it does fall apart that would generate more interest in the TV show!

I wonder if Wrexham used our trick of deferring wage increases, or the Chelsea seven year amortised contracts...

Any new owner they got would just be to asset strip them again and they will end up like Reading not owning anything and massively in debt

They haven’t needed to do anything sneaky accounting wise, they’re flooded with stateside sponsorships. They were bring in £12m a year in sponsorships in L2 with United paying more to sponsor their shirts than some PL clubs get…

This is an interesting listen and has balanced opinions from someone (Dave Mc) I’d trust to know what’s really going on at QPR a lot more that the ‘Marti used to work with my missus’ and ‘I played for QPR youth team’ brigade. Doesn’t fit the narrative though eh?

This is the first time that you've seemed to accept that their posts were based on information that had been passed to them!

I know that you don't think the information was accurate, but is'nt it possibly the same way that Dave Mc has contacts? Every disagreement has alternative views & this is no different.

I, for one, doubt that either party is innocent or free from blame!

Ahh. But chicken and egg. If a manager is successful you don’t change them, if they’re not you do. That drives the numbers.

Giving Wayne Rooney a decade unlikely to be a good idea.
