Cifuentes placed on garden leave as reign that promised so much unravels on 12:44 - Apr 30 by dmm | I don't get that Marti has tried to get compensation payments reduced or removed. Marti is still in the club's employment so presumably we'd still get compensation if another club wants to take him. |

Cifuentes placed on garden leave as reign that promised so much unravels on 12:51 - Apr 30 by E15Hoop | Did Marti actually leak that himself? That makes no sense. The truth is surely that he grew ever more frustrated at having to pretend that all was fine and dandy behind the scenes when clearly this stuff had been getting to him for literally months with no sign of a resolution. All he's really said publicly is that "This season has been by far the most challenging of my career, not just on the pitch but also the things the fans don't see". He then made a point in that same interview with Phil Parry to say "some things need to stay internal". That doesn't sound like someone trying to manipulate the situation to his own advantage - more like someone who feels like they've been screaming out that something's wrong and being told repeatedly that the sky is blue, not black, and its their fault for looking at it wrongly. As Clive said the other day, the West Brom leak to West London Sport has more than likely come from Nourry's office, not Cifuentes' people, and its been strategically leaked just in advance of the official announcement from the club to make it look like Nourry and the club itself are poor innocent victims, rather than the guilty party. |
Saying ‘Some things need to stay internal’ is just another way of saying ‘there’s big problems here’. Likewise MC’s comment that he would ‘Stay if he was wanted’ that’s just pure bs and spin. He’s clearly putting the ball in Nourry’s court as being responsible for a breakdown in relations and make himself look like the poor victim who’d love to stay meanwhile he’s touting himself out to WBA and, according to Clive’s report, Burnley and possibly Norwich as well last year. He clearly doesn’t want stay, regardless of the reasons. As has been said I’m sure there’s fault on both sides but there’s a lot of unquestioning loyalty to Cifuentes that I just don’t get. Cifuentes placed on garden leave as reign that promised so much unravels on 11:20 - Apr 30 by dmm | I cannot see that happening. Neither Cifuentes nor Nourry seem to be people who'd back down. Not only so but Marti wants out and Nourry wants him out. There's no way back unless the unlikely event of Nourry being sacked happened and the board convinced Cifuentes to stay. |
Agreed. From all the hints, the relationship has been on a downward spiral for months. There is no (good) way back.

Absolutely. Fine. You and Steve are both missing my point. The point I'm making is you can't then start pinning the recruitment on him if the recruitment turns out to be dog sht. When it suits them, Marti is "head coach". Bibs balls and cones. Then when it suits them another way he's intrinsically involved in signing all the players. Can't have it both ways.

Well, again, as said in the piece, trying to actually pin down who's responsible for signing players at QPR is shrouded in mystery - and that's deliberate, so if it goes wrong they can go "ooooh, well Warbs/Mick/Marti wanted him" after they're gone, and if it goes right they can tell you a story about how they ran a fckin Monte Carlo through Excel and it turns out Jonathan Varane is a 99% match with Isaac Hayden blah blah. At the fans forum Christian said Belk had "more power than perhaps any other head of recruitment in the division". Again, doesn't exactly speak to the manager having a lot of say, but he insists that he does. While also saying things like "I signed Saito and Dembele because I wanted some fun players for the fans". So look if they've said to Andy Belk it's all on you, here's the budget, go nuts, and he's the one who's identified and signed this squad, then by all means throw him onto the fire. But if they go to Andy Belk and say 'look we're data led now, that's your department, give me the 10 best attacking midfielders in Europe within this budget and this age bracket' and he comes back with a list of ten of which one is Nicolas Madsen, whose fault is that? Will probably get binned at some point as a useful scapegoat.

It's not unquestioning loyalty, it's football, everyone's out for themselves. But I look at the situation and see someone who's done a pretty good job in the circumstances, and been professional until the end when he's tried to protect his future as this comes to an end. And I see someone on the spin, when they deign us fans important enough to talk to, who's made some pretty significant missteps and mistakes, and has some murky questions around them and their role. And I know which one I prefer | | | | Login to get fewer ads

if it carries on club will have to agree a package which suits both sides. or marti sits out his 1 2 3 4 year deal agreed in june and the club is even more fecked than it is now ! which ever way it comes out nourry wont be the one taking the blame thats for sure , as clive said belk will prb fall on his sword for the recruitment , ben williams is pretty much bulett proof as if they sack him marti was inded correct calling him out as part of the problem with fitness . you wouldnt sakc somebody who hasnt done anything wrong would you ?

Cifuentes placed on garden leave as reign that promised so much unravels on 15:38 - Apr 30 with 2330 views | dsw2509 | Well, we have said many times about players that if they don’t want to be here then they should be removed from the building. We now have a situation where the manager doesn’t want to be in the building. Not exactly unprecedented, but the way the issue has come up is dreadful. Someone is playing Billy Big Boll*cks and it’s not clear who. This doesn’t reflect well on either Nourry or Cifuentes. And how can this be allowed to happen just when season tickets are being renewed. It’s asking a lot to collect several hundred pounds from people without saying who the manager (and,it seems, many of the players) is /are going to be. I assume there is a list of possible replacements for Cifuentes. But if JT is on that list I will be spending more time in the garden.

What Club is going to pay much compensation, if any, when they know QPR want him gone? Sounds more like the Club will end up paying him off to me. It is really bad decision making to (1) want to get rid of a good and popular Manager, and (2) to go about that bad decision by putting him on gardening leave / informing any interested Clubs you want him out rather than being patient, wait for Clubs to come in and have to pay us compensation. Or there never was any buy-out comp., another big mistake if so.

Have you ever asked someone why they are selling their car, when you go to buy it? The responses can be hilarious. We've just had a baby, so its not practical. I changed jobs and get the train to work I've never had. It's a crap car and keeps breaking down ;p

Yeah right, the club is so determined to be more resilient and less reliant on individuals it employs people on different continents to take care of player fitness. “Crucial for long term stability” that. Apparently too “They won’t, though, tolerate anything except total commitment to the cause”.

I always foung Marti amongst the cageiest of managers in a ridiculously over-protected industry, forever telling us there were reasons why we were playing shit, for instance, but he couldn't possibly tell us what they were. It was just one of a number of irritations in his very patchy, and apparently now ill-fated, reign. Wouldn't it be nice if he or anyone at QPR, just for once, said, 'for the sake of the fans and human decency, a number of things need to become external, or the club will explode'? Instead, we get more lies, deception and protectionisn than a Donald Trump convention, with a hundred bites from us at what's really happened this week. That's what these self-serving c*nts want, of course. Right now, if I saw either Hoos, Nourry or Marti in the street, I'd give them all the finger (which is the language at least one of them understands). [Post edited 30 Apr 18:05]

Are you still living in this pretend world where football people are going to open up and say something interesting to the media. If he had he would have ended up on gardening leave a long time ago.
Cifuentes placed on garden leave as reign that promised so much unravels on 18:24 - Apr 30 with 1500 views | Loft1979 | my take is that the article mirrors what Clive has put out as well. I am shocked. But at the same time felt the Sat debacle represented a team that KNEW Marti was done. Another thing I thought Clive could have repeated are those Rednapp-esque instances of playing a starting eleven you absolutely felt were doomed....and then repeating against the same team. This will get recycled and just as the love notes to Warburton (and Eustace) keep reappearing, now Marti will long in many QPR hearts. Hopefully we will point to this day as the one where we further elevated and the team performs at top 10 level. And just an aside, some ex-QPR guy at Millwall seems to be doing quite well.
