Oh the lack of transparency point is unbelievably spot on.

Nourry's communication strategy is dire.

Fans should not accept it. They should be very worried about it, and making noise. We are the constant, it's our club, not his.

Yep. And this was clear as day the moment we stopped announcing how long we’d signed players for or hiding new signings for two days on pre season tour. For me this has always been the most egregious thing Nourry has done (way beyond signings and mates in jobs) because it completely takes the piss out of your most important stakeholder group.

The most obvious, low hanging fruit for them right now is to get in front of a camera and talk. They absolutely won’t do it.

Great stuff Clive. As you say, it's more nuanced than MC = God, CN = devil, but fck me I do not hold out much hope the latter can oversee a new manager and squad overhaul this summer and get both right.

That 4-1 Leeds game in 92 is still my favourite ever game at Loftus Road. 10 years old and thinking it was always going to be like that.

It will of course be very interesting to see how Nourry manages things post Cifuentes.

For example, will he continue to restrict the new man's engagement with fan groups such as LFW? And,
will Ben Williams remain in post and in Dubai? Also, how much say will the new head coach have regarding recruitment?

This is assuming the board keeps Nourry in place. Could it be they might see him as a liability and jettison him?

Let us mourn the demise of Ned Stark, Hand of the King.

All hail Joffrey Baratheon, first of his name, Lord of the Andals and of the First Men, and Ser Loras, who commands the Kingsguard from across the Narrow Sea. We wish them good fortune in their quest for a new Hand.

The night is dark and full of terrors.

Our season tickets have renewed automatically but any hint that Mr Scum is coming in and the monthly direct debit will be immediately cancelled and we will walk away.

The owners need to be very careful how they move forward or the revenue will fall and their subsidy will grow ever larger. As you correctly hint at, how many disasters does it take before we (the supporters) crack?

Great great article Clive. I know there is always something about timing of announcements but our DS have their biggest game ever tonight, could have done with no outside “noise”. Talking of that I suspect quite a few of us going tonight as will Nourry, be interesting to see if there is any reaction. Hopefully see you in C&S.

I genuinely/ mistakenly felt there was a plan and next season would see the fruits of it as you say it’s the hope that kills you.

QPR are like an elderly relative that has a rare disease. They go on living life barely treading water and then boom out of nowhere the onset becomes near fatal.

And you say you yourself "it's happening far too often nowadays. Is it finally time to pull the plug on it all?" Let it die in peace!

More dark days ahead fellas and fellaets! Strap In! It's going to get freaking UGLY!

MAKE IT STOP, PLEASE MAKE IT STOP!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure anyone could've put that any better.

I was more sanguine than most when Warbz left despite loving his time, as it felt he'd come to a conclusion - 3 long losing runs in 3 season, 2nd at the end of Jan and picking up 15 points for the rest of the season. It felt like a denouement, personally.

But this felt like something that still had legs in it. I'm not naïve, I'm sure Marti would eventually make a step up. But it feels enraging to have it taken from us by some inexperienced clown trying to play IRL football manager, badly.

Especially cos I feel like Marti has worked a small miracle here, and my confidence would be rock bottom we get the next one right. I'd make us nailed on for relegation without him

As always Clive - on point and reflects how a lot of the fanbase feel right now. I was fortunate to be able to watch that amazing 75/76 team under Sexton. I’m in my 60’s now and just feel so divorced from the club and how it’s being run.
I recall being at Coventry on the last day of last season and came away thinking the club have a special coaching talent and can we take care of him? The answer is no and I suspect whoever comes through the revolving door will be treated in a similar way.
What’s more worrying and your spot-on in calling it out,is do we trust this moronic leadership to get it right? I think not.
And the balls of the club to post season-ticket renewals this morning-you really couldn’t make this shit up if you tried.
I wish Marti well.

I think the answer to your question is Marti has gone. There was only going to be one winner and it will be the same with next manager.
Nourry has firmly planted his flag and any deviation from it would mean publicly accepting he made a mistake. I can't see that happening.

And sadly mate, inevitable. When did we sit together in the Crown? And hasn’t it played out exactly as said then?

It was August. At home to Plymouth.

And, as you say, it all played out as expected. Like watching a bad horror movie.

I'd quietly enjoy Gerard getting the WBA job, MC still contracted, no-one coming in for him and us not being able to recruit a manager.

If nothing else it'd force everyone to have to get round the table and thrash it out. Marriage counselling "for the sake of the kids".

depressing, thoughtful, maddening and insightful..........

a brilliant piece Clive that explains the current state of the club superbly

just such a ballache to have to read through it over breakfast and then see the name J Terry in the list of potential managers; ffs.

I for 1 will continue to drink a certain Spanish lager type beverage and think fondly of Marti

as a group of us refer to these moments with a catch all phrase ...... QPR, innit

This is not just a piece of insightful journalism, it is a mirror which needs to be held up in front of Rueben, Christian and Lee Hoos, a mirror into which they should be made to stare at again and again in the coming days until their eyes actually open to see their reality of where we are and this constant cycle of false dawns, a little promise and then the usual slump leading to change.

I can forgive some of the things that manifest each year which the current owners have to grapple with as a consequence of both the total mismanagement of the club during the early Fernandes Premier League drive years, together with the reality that we are one of multiple professional football clubs in London, with limited real estate landlocked by residential streets and blocks of flats with no room for meaningful expansion, with the Westfield and UCL neighbours pricing us out of any land potential in the immediate area.

I can accept that once you have sponsored every stand, and sold the naming rites for each of the urinals in the stadium to some distant offshoot business of Rueben's back in Malaysia that we still don't have much money to make progress.

What I cannot accept is that the owners of this football club have entrusted the running of the football club to someone who cannot have been out of university for more than four years. How do you bring in an auditor and not spot the conflict of interest when they turn around and say "I know what you need.... you need me". How do they allow a change in communications towards a Ministry of Disinformation and paranoia to the extent that any communication with the playing staff is stage managed and pre-recorded leading to distrust building within the fanbase.

Or is this quite simply a reality based on not having a pot to pee in and therefore the only game in town is to try and con a half decent managerial prospect to the club on the promise of support and cake tomorrow, only to find that they quickly become disenfranchised with the "project" when the players they are given to coach are either not good enough, or worse, would be good enough if they were not always injured.

The worst point about this excellent article is the reminder about the tendency for 1 good appointment being swiftly followed by 3 bad ones and we cannot afford this risk at the moment.

Therefore at this time I fear it is League One here we come!

I cannot see that happening. Neither Cifuentes nor Nourry seem to be people who'd back down. Not only so but Marti wants out and Nourry wants him out. There's no way back unless the unlikely event of Nourry being sacked happened and the board convinced Cifuentes to stay.

I can't even "buy tat at Homebase" now that ours shut down a couple of months ago (a bit like this team).
Thanks Clive for giving me some context, and continuing to inform and entertain us (albeit that the entertainment often feels like the type of enjoyment that a masochist gets from a good whipping).

Who wants to live in a house where the parents hate each other? Not healthy.

Despite, what could be argued, all he achieved for the club with the hand he was dealt, I still don’t like the fact that MC leaking his poor/non existent relationship and contact with WBA in order to reduce or remove any compensation payable to the club is a stab in the back from someone that ‘loves the club’. He’s literally preventing us from getting loads of money purely for the prospect of his own self advancement.

I don't get that Marti has tried to get compensation payments reduced or removed. Marti is still in the club's employment so presumably we'd still get compensation if another club wants to take him.

Did Marti actually leak that himself? That makes no sense.
The truth is surely that he grew ever more frustrated at having to pretend that all was fine and dandy behind the scenes when clearly this stuff had been getting to him for literally months with no sign of a resolution.
All he's really said publicly is that "This season has been by far the most challenging of my career, not just on the pitch but also the things the fans don't see". He then made a point in that same interview with Phil Parry to say "some things need to stay internal".
That doesn't sound like someone trying to manipulate the situation to his own advantage - more like someone who feels like they've been screaming out that something's wrong and being told repeatedly that the sky is blue, not black, and its their fault for looking at it wrongly.
As Clive said the other day, the West Brom leak to West London Sport has more than likely come from Nourry's office, not Cifuentes' people, and its been strategically leaked just in advance of the official announcement from the club to make it look like Nourry and the club itself are poor innocent victims, rather than the guilty party.

Paint a sneaky ...rs on the end of the sign, visit it on a Sat afternoon wearing a replica shirt (after a few pints), stand their tutting, swearing exasperatedly at any random passerby, then after a couple of hours of frustration, say "see ya next week" to the folk on the tills, and you've had the full QPR experience at a fraction of the price.
