Braintree Match Thread 09:27 - May 5 with 8397 views | Delboy | It will be interesting to see what Jim's team selection will be today. He might see it as an opportunity to save players for the playoffs and get some game time into the fringe players. Then again he might also feel its a chance to give a key player like Bird a chance to get more match time after injury. I hope he plays Kairo who desperately needs a chance to get his confidence back after his dismal performances of late. Whatever the team and even though there is nothing at stake position wise, I hope we get something from the game and continue our end of season roll.
Braintree Match Thread on 09:35 - May 5 with 4987 views | Dale_4_Life | Could not call this one.. Team selection or potential result.. Big Jim’s 100th game in charge I am hoping he wins his 103rd game in charge at Wembley on Sunday 01st June.. Kairo needs a confidence boosting afternoon… couple of goals playing with a big smile on his face. At 5pm we will know our Eliminator opponents and all roads then lead to Spotland on Thursday 15th. Up the Dale!!
Braintree Match Thread on 09:43 - May 5 with 4926 views | 442Dale | Preferred team: Kelly, Kingdon, Ferguson,Armstrong - back three Adu Poku, Buyabu (who played well at Solihull) - wing backs Weston, Edwards (possibly some minutes for East if he’s nearing a return) - midfield Ayinde, Mitchell, Bird (for a half/60 mins again) - up front.

Credit to McNulty he's earned the right to pick whatever team he chooses today, no red cards or injuries is the only result that matters. Agree with that lineup but would be reluctant to risk Bird at all, he's going to be pivotal for us over the next few games hopefully. [Post edited 5 May 11:17]

I agree with the team selection, I would give Bird no more then 45 minutes. I would also add Subs: O.Kelly, Bailey, Henderson, Adebayo-Rowling, Allarakhia, Beckwith, Gordon. This would allow us to rest Barlow, Rodney, Gilmour, Ebanks-Landell, and Barrett (and possibly East, if he is nearly fit) for the play offs. Is there any regulation for us to put a stronger team with Braintree in theory at risk, yes it would take some unique for them to be relegated with the goal difference them have. Braintree Match Thread on 16:22 - May 5 with 3316 views | WhitworthDale | As we know, we are capable of producing some real shockers, in amongst the good performances. So far, this is falling into the shocker category. Arguably more excusable given the rotations in team, but the lack of ability to create chances against teams where they sit back is a running theme. We play some pretty stuff but produce next to no shots on goal. Be interesting to hear the gaffer's thoughts on how he plans to remedy this. Thought the keeper should have been much braver for the first, and Kingdon clearly at fault for the second - that attempted flick was inexcusable.

Not sure I agree with that 58. Has their keeper been made to make a save?

No because they missed easy chances and did⁷n't hit the target

Dale do overplay it in and around the box and seem terrified of having a pop. McNulty will point to not sustaining injuries and keeping everyone match fit.......but oh this is a boring game.
Braintree Match Thread on 17:12 - May 5 with 2725 views | _Windydale | A run out, a casual performance in the bank holiday sun It would have been nice to see more effort and creatvity in front of their goal. Good in possession awful in front of their goal. No big deal, next game, hopefully jim selects a strong line up, no fancy strategy. and has the players playing with pace and urgency unlike the vase semi. Applying fast and zippy passing from the first whistle

It was rubbish. But then there are performances under Bentley, Eyre, Barrow, Buckley, Halom and others in games that mattered more. If anything the biggest criticism today of McNulty is he started with the side he did.

Southend might have sent some staff just up the road to Braintree today to scout the Dale....I bet they were happy with what they saw. Rubbish.
