The Lions are an historic institution and may they long continue. To play in front of 90,000 people in a mostly Rugby League country will higher the profile of Rugby. Rugby Australia have always had terrific players but they need to broaden the game in Oz. It needs to come away from the school system and get more ordinary kids involved. Theres enough talent in Australia for both sports. It's amazing how close they came to the Lions considering how awful they were in the World Cup. They definitely have some top players and in a far better place than Wales. Under Schmidt they are looking like they could be a force again.
Commercially the income gained for Rugby Australia will be huge. That's why the All Black and Boks love the Lions tours. Such a pity that only one Welsh man is involved. Which is a huge indictment on the useless woke WRU. Welsh players always used to shine on Lions tours. | | | |
