Here comes the summer transfer rumour thread on 18:08 - Jul 28 by ReslovenSwan1 | Lissah is the man to step up but has has a torrid time with injury just as he was transitioning to the main squad. He was very impressive for two seasons in the u21 and never gave the ball away cheaply. Swansea signed Blair McKenzie from Scotland who has 20 games for Morton but was recalled from loan last season. He needs to play with a seasoned pro like Burgess to find his feet I would think. Even Guehi has some early difficult days. I recall a 4-4 game maybe at Hull city. Lissah is still injured. Perhaps Swansea needs a utility defender to cover CB and FB. Sam Parker another needing fame time and for the squad [Post edited 28 Jul 18:12]

If Sheehan was looking to play the youngsters why did he go with Fulton in central defence instead of preparing for the new season with the u21s.

Is Liassah the only U21 in the club then? Why not give a chance in a friendly to one of the other kids? surely better than playing Fulton out of position

Without a doubt, it's really disappointing the lack of u21s coming through to the first team in recent years.

is there another behind closed doors game today? if so with the people out wonder if the manager will have to look at the under 21s for help or willmwe have some trialists in to look at, but something needs to be happening and soon or will possibly be having a bad start to the season

How much of the "behind closed doors" matches are practicing set plays, defending and attacking against various opposition and not necessarily trying players out?

Here comes the summer transfer rumour thread on 13:17 - Jul 29 with 3202 views | KeithHaynes | Definitely a game today, but the last behind closed doors was predominantly U21 side with Yates, Bianchini and O.Cooper from memory. This can only benefit the U21 side even though they lost 4-0. Will have little or no impact on the first team.

Finished 0-0 last night. It was our U21s with a few triallists in the squad. Assume no first team behind closed doors games now, with the final preseason fixture on Saturday ?

morning one and all,, with about 10 days to go before our first meaningfull game as good as the early recruitment was i for one was and still am hoping for some more tip top guys coming in, our injury position looks quite serious as i write with at least 2 of our centre backs going to be out maybe 3 for the first game and big holes in some areas to be filled , what is a worry for me is if for instance we are looking at loans the clubs we hope to borrow from will be waiting until the last moment to be saying yes or no, look at how many games have to be played between a wk saturday and the end of august a lot of points to play for and to be honest we are NOT looking anything like a settled side, a big worry sorry to say

There is over a months left of the window and I would say the majority of clubs are in the same position as us with gaps still to fill. Even when the window closes are we ever happy with the squad we have. We did business early, there has been a quiet spell and we will do business late, IMO that is an improvement on recent windows. We have been unlucky with injuries in central defence but without those our squad is more than capable of starting the season. Yes i would like a bit more cover in defence and a striker but we can't just have everything we want. We still need to move a couple of players on. [Post edited 30 Jul 9:40]

Thanks. Doesn’t show much ambition on his part if that is his preference. A club with few prospects given their financial issues. If that’s his first choice then I wouldn’t spend more time on him. That’s of course if we are.

Hull are still spending, they are getting a few decent free transfers in, on paper they look to have a better squad, so perhaps the lure of moving back home and having a better squad might sway it.
