I had a lot of hope in Bianchini but it never seemed to click with him. Maybe we are not the right club for him.

I don’t see his move to Portsmouth being a developmental one to come back here a better player. If he doesn’t perform there then of course that will be different.

This echo's my thoughts. Either way I hope that we can recover some money for him in the future.

Vip, doesn't have a striker's instinct, anticipation or the awareness to be the answer for us in my opinion it doesn't come natural to him, we need far better than Vip.

Go on Vip prove me wrong.

Maybe it's wishful thinking. I think there is a player there. But he has a uphill battle if we sign Kone. With Cullen preferred over Vipotnik too, it really needs to be his season.

Lots of people say they have seen something in Vipotnik, but no one can actually pinpoint what it is.

I’m clinging to the hope that he just had an absolute nightmare of a season and comes back a much better player. Even if we do sign Kone, we still need a capable backup. I see Cullen as more of an attacking option you bring on for a midfielder for the last half hour than a centre forward.

He didn’t have a nightmare season by any standards. But you keep on banging that drum…………

How would you describe it?

If he’s actually a decent striker, that was a nightmare season. If that’s his standard, he’s not good enough.

In a lifetime of involvement in football at all levels I have never seen a player hide so much from the football as Vip. At any time during a match have a quick look at his positioning and ask yourself what the f is he doing and where he ought to be. And when he is in an attacking position he spends 90% of his time hiding behind the central defefenders. The number of times he got in front of his defefenders you could count on one hand. Still he can kick a ball hard, so keep playing him!

As I have said before for a big player he is not physical enough, the opposition defenders have a very easy ride with him. When he closes down he runs up to a defender and stops two yards short and they pass around him. Clatter into them and take the odd booking but let them know they are in a game. They will think twice next time and not dwell on the ball. As others have said his positioning is rubbish, how often does he meet a cross high or low, he just doesn't make runs or take a chance. He doesn't create chances for others in and around the box or offer a lot. He does have a powerful shot that he doesn't use often enough and he does lay the ball off well when it's cleared to him in midfield. He just doesn't offer enough for me. Behind Cullen now and any incoming forward and if he stays he will shortly be behind Wales. That's a lot of money on a 4th choice forward, decisions have to be made.

Isn’t it strange how people who don’t rate Vipotnik can articulate exactly why whereas people who do, just don’t respond when you ask them what he does well?

At a push, they blame Matt Grimes.

He's not for the reason's I've mentioned, he's still young though, but you can't teach a player to be instinctive, he has had his moments with a few decent goals and has a good shot on him, but compare him to Cullen's ability to read situations etc.

Neither Vip or Culls are good enough for a side that want to compete for the top six. IMO

I’ve been talking about his anticipation for months. I genuinely don’t know if you can teach it. Physically, he has the attributes to be a good striker.

The point about Cullen reading play is bang on. People scratch their heads as to why chances seem to fall to Cullen but not Vipotnik. It was the same with Routledge.

He has the uncanny knack of being in the wrong place at the right time, and the right place at the wrong time, a talent that can't be coached into ot out of a strikers abilities.

As for Cullen ?

His positioning, timing and reading of play is vastly superior, but he’s never going to be an out and out centre forward.

In a two or playing behind a striker yes, but if we’re going one up front, he’s not the answer.

Maybe I'm reading between the lines with comments on this forum but is it looking like Kone will be going to Leicester or other?. Let's hope we have a good back up option and some movement on defense.

If we are bringing in players , I hope they will be tried and tested at league level and not some Premier League club’s youngsters who have only played u21 football but are completely untried in senior leagues, especially in the championship . Developing youngsters from other teams before giving our own young players like Congreve and Cotterill a chance ,when they have had a bit of lower league experience is just wasteful and doesn’t help us at all

That won’t be the Swans tactic, they want to bring in permanent signings that are better than what they have. I don’t doubt we may have a few loans but it isn’t a priority at all mate. The lessons learned from the expense of Nelson Abbey (Olympiacos) sitting on the bench until January then walking away because he’s had enough have been learned.

They already have players sighted for January.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

I’m glad to hear that , thanks Keith
On a positive note ,Ethan Galbraith looks like a great signing,if the ones that follow have been analysed to the same degree ,we’ll be fine
