Here comes the summer transfer rumour thread on 23:10 - Jul 24 with 2995 views | GVJack | Can't say I'm one that's got a particular dislike towards Wrexham. They've done excellent over the past 4 years since the new owners have come in, and love them or loath them they've done an excellent job in putting Wrexham back on the map and putting some much needed positivity into North Wales. Don't get me wrong, I hope we stuff them and do the double on them being our only Welsh Derby this year, but otherwise I'm indifferent towards the rest of their results/success. I do think however they're going to have a year of consolidation as their progress will severely slow down and they'll struggle for consistency in the Championship. They'll do enough to avoid the drop, but I certainly don't think they'll set the league on fire.

I still can't get my head around why people are still debating if Wrexham is bigger than us. It's madness, has Wrexham brought through youth players to the Wales setup, in recent times or ever? Someone correct me on this? Have they achieved as much success than us? How many ex mangers of theres as gone on to succeed or step up to bigger teams on all levels (irrelevant of the outcome) ? Just look at our list, Rodgers? Martinez, Cooper, Cough... Martin ๐, Potter, Cooper etc, Do I need to list them all? I could go on. Even if they win the Premier league in a few seasons ๐คฃ. It still won't change the facts. [Post edited 25 Jul 0:24]

Without a doubt, their turnover is currently more than ours. Another major factor in allowing them to spend relatively freely is the difference between the PSR regulations in League One and the Championship. We are handcuffed to the three year rolling rule and our spending in the previous two years limits our spending this year. Wrexham had relative freedom from restrictions last season (this is how Birmingham could spend ยฃ15M on a single player) and this is the first year of their rolling three. If they spend big this year and more than they can really afford it will limit their spending in the next two years, unless they go up. One hell of a gamble if they do that and could result in a points deduction further down the line, we have seen it all before with other teams. Unless they go back down of course like Birmingham did and the PSR rules change again.

I will say after working all over Wales especially North Wales there was a lack of support, But a weeks holiday at the start of July I had seen Wrexham shirts in Harlech , Caernarfon, Bala and Porthmadog, so they seem to be getting the backing and the club is now active across the North Wales belt. On the other hand you would be lucky in the Swansea did anything in the Neath, Cwmtawe/Swansea or Amman Valleys let alone West Wales . Just imagine Swans running a beach football event , let's just say Tenby during the summer holidays

They donโt come close of course, plus the Swans didnโt buy themselves into the championship, or the premier league, it was because of these head coach appointments that the club achieved what it did this century. Perfectly correct.

People will just look for something to be jealous of. Weโre already at Wrexhams ceiling IMO and have been here or above for the best part of twenty years. Thereโs a hell of a lot more of our historic contemporaries with reason to be jealous of us than the other way around.

Here comes the summer transfer rumour thread on 17:44 - Jul 24 by Landore_Jack | Money talks. Wrexham could afford to sign him. We could not. Same with Darling and Norwich. It's a shame because O'brien was outstanding for us. However, I would never want the club to be at risk financially. |
Agree with your money talks comment, thats why in my opinion whilst early days the squad as it is as i write will not be there or there abouts come jan, no disrespect to many one but we have brought in people who look an upgrade on what we had in the past , the bulk of them have no experience of uk soccer never mind the grind that the championship is, i wish one and all the best of luck but talk of play offs is way way off the mark as things are , but hopefully we will bring in 4 or 5 that not only will give the squad needed depth but some quality as well, within the budget constraints of course

Hate to point this out, but that could have been written by a Cardiff fan about us. Someone posted on here about the Disney money funding their journey, it doesn't. No money from "Welcome to Wrexham" goes to the club, that goes to Rob and Ryan. What they do have however are massive sponsorship deals - United Airlines, Stok Coffee, Aviation Gin, Betty Buzz and others. These have all happened as a result of the airtime the club is getting. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Although the welcome to Wrexham money doesn't directly go to the club the money it has generated by lifting the clubs profile does. I suppose it all depends on which way you look at it, but in my opinion if the Welcome to Wrexham series did not exist they would not have such a high financial turnover. Therefore the money generated by the Disney exposure is helping to fund their journey,

Nor sure why others are pointing out about how much money they have. In business yes the more money you have and all of that is deemed as a bigger organisation. But my points was, strip that back and they have no leg to stand on with contributing to Wales international set up, manager quality and a whole lot more.

Sorry, not trying to infer that you were a fan of them up the road, rather that the "Who's the bigger club" thing is just pointless. Frankly I couldn't care less if we are a small club, it's my club.

Here comes the summer transfer rumour thread on 21:50 - Jul 25 with 348 views | Dr_Winston | People have been predicting Phil Parkinson's demise at every point of Wrexham's ascent so far. I'm not sure it's coming any time soon, even if they struggle early doors. The man took a League Two team to a major Wembley final and had achieved three promotions before even getting the Wrexham job. He clearly knows what he's doing.
