Get your finger out, my club!

If it were me, I'd start by renaming SAR The Gordon Jago Stand.

Onward and upward to your next ballsy incarnation, Gord.

I was very fortunate to be in the group of about a dozen fans on Bristol station after a game when Gordon Jago walked over from the team group to tell us that the club had agreed to sell Rodney Marsh. We were all in awe. My all time favourite QPR manager. RIP for a great man. Very sad.

A great and humble manager who instigated Rangers' development from average to exceptional (and no I'm not denigrating Alec Stock). The football we played under him, his signings and the whole philosophy of fluid, structured football is a legacy which endures. We have had, and are having, slumps as at present but he created an expectation of attractive football in our fans. This has been a burden for some subsequent bosses but it lives in the hearts of the "Rs". Rest in Peace Gordon.

I spoke to him just once, in the club shop, probably during the summer of 1974. I will always remember how he came over as being really friendly and a true gentleman. Responsible for assembling what I think was our best ever squad (including Stan, Don Givens and Dave Thomas) I’m pleased he made it to the grand old age of 92.

Laid the foundations for the greatest ever QPR team and the reason I became a fan. RIP Gordon Jago

Just a little too early for me to remember him as our Manager. But I know how important he was to QPR and how he transformed a team into a top first division side that would go on to give Liverpool a run for their money.
Never close to meeting him at any point, but i have tears here in hearing of his passing.

Thanks for everything Mr Gordon Jago.

Smells like a trout farm in here

Nothing as sensational for me, Berko, but it also involved Bristol Temple Meads. I was in the bar/cafe, where the team were waiting, pending the return to London after a match at Ashton Gate; in awe of Marsh, Venables etc and probably getting autographs. Later, on the train, my compartment door opened and one of the QPR entourage appeared with a box of cakes, sent by Mr Jago. Nice.

How very sad, ahead of his time as a communicator and with Bobby Campbell as an excellent coach developed an exciting and successful football style. He managed the 'exit' of one legend, Rodney Marsh and helped talented youngsters to flourish before heralding the entrance of a new legend in Stan Bowles and the signing of Don Givens and Dave Thomas.

He built the foundations of a wonderful era for QPR. RIP

Agreed.

Very sad to hear of Gordon Jago's passing. I started supporting QPR whilst he was the manager.

RIP and thanks for the memories.

I can't add anything to what has been said already. Gordon is a true club legend.

Rest In Peace Gordon Jago.

Gordon Jago gave me Dave Thomas, Stan Bowles and Don Givens. The foundation of a team that played with style and panache. A team that I grew to love and has given me so much over the years. It all started for me with Jago’s philosophy and he has given me a relationship with the R’s that has become such a personal and often emotional journey. I am really gutted by this sad news.

Steady transfer window that.

RIP.

He was also in for Keegan as well before he went to Liverpool but Jim Gregory said no

Jago's autobiography is well worth a read

For me our best manager, I started watching us seriously in the 1972 season and Gordon Jago , put in place all the pieces for the 1975-76 challenge 🔵⚪️🔵⚪️🔵⚪️ RIP Gordon, forever in our hearts.

Another one here for whom Gordon was my first manager. I thought the football would always be that good, and the manager would always be a gentleman. I was too young to understand why he left, but Sexton seemed to take over seamlessly, built on that glorious foundation, and was also a gent.

Gordon only ever spoke well of QPR in his later years - this is worth a re-read, from when Stan passed away:

Shine on Gordon, and thank you.

Great figure in QPR's history. Not sure how far Gregory undermined him or supercharged him. Also, the McLintock signing was really significant. This is a good read - https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/queensparkrangers/news/53848/gordon-jago-

Thanks for that, I was going to ask why he left. I never knew about him being considered as a replacement for Sir Alf. To go from next manager of England to next manager of Millwall in a couple of months is surprising.

RIP Gordon

I don't remember him from my memories.

Was a fan from 1972 but was only a little nipper but clearly paved the way for the title that never was season

Had a long life and achieved a lot. Most of us, would be happy with that.

Must have made his family proud..

A life well lived.

My first manager was Alec Stock who gave us the famous team that won the old third division and that superb League cup win, you know guys the days when it was possible for a team from the lower leagues to dream big and actually win a cup, now dominated by the money boys in the Premiership.

Stock left in 68 and we were drifting a bit until Jago turned up in 71 and what a breath of fresh air, the man transformed the team, we played some great football and he got us promoted to the old First Division. He was another manager who people said was ahead of his time, a great coach who read the game and built a fantastic relationship with the fans.

RIP Gordon thanks for the memories......
