Yes noticed that didn’t he do the same thing at his last club as well ? This squad at present is paper thin I’m talking the bog paper u used at school which didn’t absorb just spread what ever had come out . As other have said same issues as last season and to be honest the season before , But it’s ok we have signed a 100 baller centre backs fro the dev squad so alls good in the hood. We are being linked to ever bit part European striker we can be , all if looking at stats and that’s the fashion these days look less than average , While we are trawling the last pages of football manger Wrexham have picked up Josh windlass for nowt And Ryan Hardie for a fee But it’s ok the south African kid we just signed on a four year deal is the real deal and it’s amazing we managed to get him ,ever heard of him before ? No me either . The buying cheap to develop and sell is the future but like last season it’s fecki g madness to do it in one go and have squad mothercare would think is to young to sponsor this season . Yes window dosnt shut till the end of august and we have what five games before then . Let’s say without serious deals coming through who maybe just ,Ayube have spent at least sometime playing football, in a league close to a English league we are in serious brown stuff So looking. Forward to the fans forum next week and these have just signed video which is no doubt lined up for us mere mortals to laugh at

We have a dreadful injury crisis and yet we let them go out and play with no shin guards. Or if they are they're basically just thick socks.

Put in a fantastic first time ball forward to set up the equaliser The bloke’s got talent if we can get it out of him

Cardiff Friendly on 20:26 - Jul 23 by davman | Agree on Colback, but totally disagree on Ken Paal. Yes, he was a steady Eddy, but he couldn't defend, couldn't beat a man and could only land a cross one in every 20 attempts. Corners. Say no more. I cannot believe that he is that difficult to replace. Anyone who actually thinks that Larkeche is good enough for this lead needs a real good head rub. Esquidinha looks a better bet and there is no way on earth we could rely on a youngster like that to bang out 40 good games. Adamson has energy, but also looks like he cannot defend. Loans a plenty, not until the end of September when our run of "winnable" games will slowly start to run out. We are a long, long way from being a passable team this season. How many pundits are hailing us as a dark horse, I'll never know - I am not sure that our horse could be any darker at this moment in time... Get those fckrs fit and playing and I might start to see the light, but the team we are currently putting out is way, way off the required standard. |
We don't need Colback who didn't do the job you thought he did but we do need a ball winner/presser who has the legs and discipline Colback doesn't (oh and is available more than half the season), Varane back (or similar replacement), Jimmy at RB, someone up front who can hold the ball up who can play when Frey can't, especially when under the high press and a decent LB who can close down wingers and show for the ball to take some of the pressure we get under the high press. We've struggled under the high press for years, memorably from the torrid time Ishmael's Barnsley gave us. One big issue Stephane needs to resolve.

All it needs for Madsen to shine is for the opposition to stand off him for the duration of 46 games, give him all the space he desires for the full 90 minutes and we’ll have a player on our hands. Unfortunately, having just perused the Championship league table for a number of seconds, I’m not entirely convinced that will happen.

MC, whom most of us respected at the time, selected Colback whenever he was fit.....why??? - because he did exactly what I stated & was a big asset to the Team. Shame you cannot see that & just look at the 'so called' negitives!!

Cardiff Friendly on 09:04 - Jul 24 with 1880 views | kernowhoop | My thoughts went from the performance against Cardiff to the first game of the season. Can't help feeling that it is more important than usual this year. Will the new manager, displaying many of the characteristics and ideas of the previous one, sense that too? I reckon so. I would like to see an attacking performance that sweeps PNE away, but, I am inclined to think that it will be a cautious approach, to avoid defeat - with the team performing in the same inconsistent fashion as under Marti. I would love to be wrong about that.

Cardiff Friendly on 20:52 - Jul 23 by stevec | Indeed. Whoever thought it was okay to persist with the same four almost permanently injured forwards yet again this season should be run out of town. This has all the makings of yet another shambolic season. |
I don't think there's any individual at the Club that thinks our strike force is anywhere near satisfactory tbh. I'd imagine we've been scouting the data streams like mad to find someone adequate to add to Frey, but can't find anyone in our price range. Doesn't help that we don't know what's happening with Kelman. If he's refusing to sign a new deal then presumably we'll look to offload him and reinvest some of what we get in a new striker. What grade of striker that ends up being will depend on how many sheckles we get for the lad.

I love Sam Field but he was at fault for both goals in this game. I don't think he's suited to playing in a 2 man midfield with the style they're trying to implement. Seeing him receive the ball with his back turned has been nightmarish. I really hope he can turn it around but my take (not expecting many agreements) is that his best role genuinely might be LCB in this system. If we're not in the market for a CM who can play progressive football, we might be in for a struggle imo

Field is our best defensive midfielder by a mile and does so much off the ball that others don't. His job isn't to progress the ball forward which should be Varane's job if he ever graces us with his presence and turns up You need players like Field in the team in the same way you will need Smyth unless our current midgets learn how to track runners and work harder We are so easy to play against unless we do better off the ball . Please watch any (I mean any) game last season where Varane and Field played together and it is the complete opposite of what you are saying. Varane plays deeper as a 6 while Field plays box to box (look at Oxford away ffs he was basically a striker). Trying to now say Field is miles ahead of Varane in this position is so blasphemous it almost comes off as parody. And yeah f*cking hell Varane turn up already, 4th most games played last season stop calling it in. Field has been fine but he isn't the messiah you make him out to be, we can criticise him. For me that is his ability on the ball. Watch the 2nd Cardiff goal yesterday and talk to me about his off the ball ability also. It's worrying. For me he excels for me when using his box crashing abilities and leading the press. We see it on the occasional night game when he decides he wants to bag two in front of the loft. He's been great in some horrible teams of ours and is exactly the player we've needed. But if people want to discuss his obvious limitations, why not?

I'm not so sure. I liked Martì because I liked his character and I felt like if given enough time he could progress the club. But, even supposing Stéphan takes us on a long poor run, it isn't like there weren't those with Martì too. And it isn't like we played liquid football. I think it will come down to how well Stéphan connects with the fans.

Calm down fanboy FFS 😂😂 Point is Varane should be doing more with the ball not Field , Field is limited and shouldn't be doing it , his job should be to track runners , get his body in the way and win headers , you know everything other midfielders can't or won't do . Key / operative words "back end of the season" Was any of the opposition really giving it the gun then, did they have the flip-flops on or were they waiting to mug Chef Utd off at Wembley? Madsen will never be suited to playing at this level. I reckon I'd come out on top in a midfield battle with him as easily as putting in a reducer nice and early..... you'd not see him again for 85 minutes

I'm the fanboy now! Very interesting SamfieldW12! Is it not possible that Varane was progressively limited by the pragmatic coaching that was necessary last season? Keep it simple, recycle the ball, protect the defence etc. Sunderland away on pure vibes he ran the game against a midfield containing Jobe, Rigg and Le Fee. He can do it and I think he'll prove it this season. What is the shock? We've just had a 5m bid rejected for a player miles worse than Sam Field. What happens next mighty prophet? Think I read on here that he'd only played there once or twice previously, so not his "natural" position. But he does carry the ball nicely, it would be interesting to see how he looks in that role.

He played at least 10 games at LB as per below but this was more of a LWB role than standard full back. This was also under Joey Barton as manager if you put any stock into his judgement. I'm sure he could do a job there and its great we have a Swiss army knife in the squad like this. I feel like from current showing that playing him as a full back may be a waste? I think he has more potential in the midfield and it would make better use of his ability https://fbref.com/en/players/a70182a5/matchlogs/2023-2024/c15/Harvey-Vale-Match-
