Never seen much of Kelman in a QPR shirt to convince me he is going to score goals. If we have made some decent money from his season at Orient then take it and move on. Hopefully Celar will be on his way soon as well.

He didn’t want to be here. His contract was running down. £~3m is a good deal, and you invest around half of it on 2 other strikers.

Good business.

It feels to me another mismanaged situation, we've pissed him off enough he'd rather move sideways than stay here.

How have we pissed off Celar. We played him loads and he got injured. Maybe the new manager has seen enough? I wanted Celar to give it a good go like Kelman but if 1 is not rated and the other won’t sign a new deal, they have to move on. We need replacements though! Probably 2 more after the signing yesterday.

1 - Looks like good business. Time will tell if Kelman has improved enough for the Championship but what I have seen we have 'done good'.
2 - As for the new striker signing, looks good on paper, got what we need but, again, we will see.
3 - Celar is not good enough and I presume he will be move on very soon, if we can sell him.
4 - Big question now is if we get another striker in but I think we may well go with what we have got.

You just know Gazza he will step up

And throughout the whole season we will be moaning that we sold him

It has been suggested that this striker from Burton will step up but I think we will still be a striker short

Good luck to Kelman, I would have kept him till January and seen where we are at then but I guess 3 mill plus add ons is a good deal

According to others on here Kelman is in the last year of his contract with us and wouldn’t sign a new one or an extension. No idea if this is true but it would explain why he’s just been sold to Charlton. Let’s hope this doesn’t come back to bite us on the arse.

Scooters, Tunes, Trainers and QPR.

Good business especially if he didn’t want to be here .
We would end up with another BOS or Manning on our hands .
I’ve never seen him score for us so it’s not as if we’re missing anything in that regard .
Good luck to him . Sounds like both the player and club are happy with the deal .
We didn’t get mugged with the Armstrong deal . Likely we won’t get mugged with this either.

If we'd kept him til Jan we'd have got a fraction of the money we managed to get now. Plus no guarantee he wouldn't have just sat out the remaining six months and left for free at that point anyway

Shit but local

I think this is because we loaned him out last season and he wanted to stay... Why would you sign a new contract.

I agree its the right thing to do but I sincerely think we will regret him leaving

Do we take a £3 million chance??? when it has been said he did not want a new contract.

Good business.

Charlton have confirmed the signing. 4 year deal.
1
Kelman:Here We Go on 09:59 - Jul 27 with 1341 viewsGloucs_R

Charlie Kelman has completed a permanent move to Charlton Athletic for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old striker joined QPR in October 2020 from Southend United. Over the previous five years, Kelman has enjoyed loan spells with Gillingham, Leyton Orient, Wigan and, more recently, The O’s for a second time.

CEO Christian Nourry said: “Charlie moves on with our very best wishes.

“Following an excellent season in League One with Leyton Orient, Charlie expressed a desire to move on.

“When it became clear Charlie did not want to extend his time with us, we have worked with him to achieve this transfer while also acting in the best interests of the football club.”

QPR thanks Charlie for his efforts throughout his time in W12 and wishes him every success in the future.

Didn't want to stay, goodbye, good luck

Think that confirms that he only had one year left on the contract but I don’t know why the club just can’t say this.

No ‘competitive advantage’ now he’s not our player.

Shame. I would have liked to see how he has progressed and whether he could cut it with us at this level. Probably the right commercial decision.

This is smart business.

1yr ago, we questioned the contract extension and another loan. At that point, he was worth next to nothing, a gamble by the club. But to be fair it paid off big time.

We ended up in a win-win, he stays and gets his shot, or we cash in. A surprise budget boost no one would’ve predicted 12 months ago.

He’s a good finisher, but let’s be honest his style never really fit us. This deal frees us up to bring in 2–3 players who actually suit our system.

I’m all for it.

So he smashes it at Charlton? Great, that's covered too. We’ve got 20% of the upside.

The only commercial decision if the player didn't want to be here and we could make a profit on him. We only want players in the building who want to play for us.

Never knowingly right.

I think it's because the loan went much better than QPR, Orient or Charlie ever dreamed it would.
He was content to sign a contract extension last season and go on loan.
Now his profile has risen so fast, he wants to take advantage of it.
Instead of accepting an offer here and fighting for his place, in a team and system that may not suit him, he has decided to accept a lengthy contract with another championship London club.
We don't really have a choice but to take a decent offer.
It's a big risk for Charlton!

Chelsea mate just text, why have you sold Kelman?

I replied, because all the other four forwards are shit and not worth anything, that’s how we roll.

Actually, I wonder if we should just do loans for profit…
Chair - Stevenage, stock went right up, should have sold
Eze - Wycombe, stock went right up, did sell
Kelman - Orient, stock went right up, sold

I mean, who sticks it out in our first team and becomes valuable? Literally no one.

On returning from Wycombe, Eze was with us for two and a half seasons before his move to Palace.

BOS
Manning
Dickie
Dieng
Willock

All recent players who increased in value while playing for us.

But we either didn't sell at the right time or mismanaged the contracts.

We got a fair wedge for selling Sinclair Armstrong to Bristol City.

And be careful what you wish for regarding Chair. His value has increased since his Stevenage loan and he probably would be sold if we got the right offer.

And then there's Varane who is still a work in progress.

And Chair had done pretty well in 250 appearances for us since his return!

Yeah but how much did we get for those five?

Not sure it even adds up to a Kelman.

Shame he didn't want to sign a contract but we've got a great price and sell on clause for someone who's never scored a championship goal

Well done the club
