Sounds to me like he didn't want to stay here for some reason?

So

Fck off.

He definitely doesn't want to play for us. Hope his career goes well at Charlton and I hope they and Nathan Jones are horribly relegated.

Never knowingly right.

Hopefully we also have a sell on clause

20% of buggerall isn't worth much though. If I were CAFC I'd point blank refuse having a sell-on clause, especially if they're already stumping up £3million.
I don't get any of it, he looks like a bang average lower league immobile lump to me - I suspect he'll be as effective as Macauley Bonne was for us which will sort of square the circle. One thing you can rely on though: he WILL score against us when he returns!

Sorry but is no one worried that we're selling the top scorer in League 1 to a relegation rival while having zero fit, capable strikers at the club? Unbelievable.

Yes it is worrying, but he didn't want to sign a new deal, so like Armstrong last year , it is correct to cash in on him. If he ends up being a huge success, qpr will benefit from the sell on clause.

My only hope is that the money is better spent than the Armstrong m9ney was.

This Burrell signing doesn't have me thinking it will. His career stats are not very impressive.

Maybe the next one will be.

Edit: I have seen his YouTube highlights and he looks like a decent runner who can play down the middle or out wide, but he also can pick out a teammate with a cross or pass. So maybe, he might be able to do this at Championship level.

Charlton have apparently got a couple of very wealthy billionaire co-owners so not a surprise they're not just trying to survive this season.

They also have a ground that has a capacity of 27,000 and will get crowds in the region of 20,000 comfortably. They averaged the same as us last year in division one.

So we've now signed an inferior version to Kelman from Burton Albion in divison one. Certainly in terms of his vastly inferior goals' output compared to Kelman.

Say Kelman gets 20 goals and we have a 20% sell on fee.

Who is more likely to have to sell him Charlton or the likes of a west from or a Sheffield United?.

Last time I watched kelman in a QPR shirt was that 0-0 draw with Cardiff and that night he was bloody awful. obviously he has improved but I dont think he will be getting 15 goals for Charlton maybe he will but I cant see it.

As others have mentioned it seems like he wasn't keen on staying, certainly not enough to sign any new deal.

I know he's still young but his stas aren't great aside from last season, almost Mike Sheron like.

Time will tell. Nathan Jones will certainly take great pleasure from it if he scores against us.

We've signed a player with attributes we need for our playing style. Kelman was leaving anyway and the supacomputa identified someone who can play the high press. Let's give it a chance.

It feels a bit like a loss but in the end it’s a win. Never would’ve expected £3m and upside this time last year. Just hope it gets invested well.

Also intrigued by the ‘doubts about his future’ about Celar in the wls report. Have we found someone who’ll take him on?

There are rumours of a season long loan.

It feels to me another mismanaged situation, we've pissed him off enough he'd rather move sideways than stay here.

Much as we want it and will it to happen, it is just not happening

He never scored in 26 games for us, albeit most cameos and subs appearances

Even this pre-season he never / couldn’t score, so I guess it is just not happening

If he wouldn’t extend,I think we did the right thing to move him on with some cash, you can’t argue too much as he is only proven in league one, albeit, really, only one season and that’s was last season.

Now can we have a striker or two in coming?

Edit- Burrell in coming 👍🏻

I always thought if we got 2m we had to sell. If of course he really is in his last year of contract.

Mate, if he won't stay and play for us, it doesn't matter who pays us to take him as long as we get the money we want. It's about us making the right decision for us, and this is the right decision for us. End of story.

Kelman's sale is a risk. But keeping him for the Championship is also a risk.
If he tears up the Championship we'll look very silly. A 20% sell on clause (WLS) is a decent back stop. But, if he flops at this level, we'll have sold him at peak value. Maybe last season was a tear in the fabric of reality, a la Patrick Agyemang.
Better people than me will stand or fall by the final outcomes.

“If he tears up the championship” that’s the real trick isn’t it

He wouldn’t sign an extension, he is clearly not interested in staying, we can force him to stay but will he perform to his best? I am not sure if he stayed without accepting QPR’s contract extension would he even be near the first team

I don’t think any team lower than the championship will / can pay 3 million plus for Kelman, rumoured Luton, but was Kelman willing to go down a level, I am sure he is ambitious. Birmingham and Wrexham both loaded are now in the same level as us. Charlton is the “best” choice as he would find himself as the main striker. I doubt he would if he were to go Luton.

If hope he does well and move on so we get the sell on, but just don’t do well against QPR !

If he moves to another a championship side then I reckon you are spot on. I’m inclined to think he knows he’s not good enough for the English Championship so wants to either drop down a league or go abroad. My suppositions are based on zero facts as I’m most def not ITK. I think we can all see Celar’s stint with us so far hasn’t been great apart from two nice goals and taking in to account his nasty injury last season.

Scooters, Tunes, Trainers and QPR.

Bit torn on Kelman. Personally would have liked to have kept him and given him a proper go, under the proviso that he would sign a deal or we had an extension at least....

That said we have suffered in the past not selling players at the top of their market, and it's a fair shout to assume he won't beat the exploits of last season and this value is the max for us. On that basis alone, you sell to the highest bidder.

Of course the issue is it leaves us very short, and with a collection of strikers who probably didn't beat his 61 appearances last season all put together... The fee is also contentious, as it's almost definitely closer to the max £3m reported by WLS rather than this Romano figure, and even that won't be upfront.

Overall I think it comes down to what we do with the money. If we use it to get 2-3 other prospects that are positions/profiles of need and flesh out the squad, then fine. That's the model. But get another Celar type who can't find his own arse while Kelman bangs them in for Charlton at our expense, and not even the insurance of a sell on will make up for it.

Given our inability to feed these type of strikers, the ? over Kelman stepping up at all, and the fact he's probably at the top of his value right now - I'm leaning towards it being the right decision. Time will tell

ask Beavis I get nothing Butthead

If the rumours are true then presumably, we weren’t offering him what he thinks he’s worth and Charlton are.

Selling Sincs to Brizzle was good business, I’m not sure yet if this is. Kelman at least has a good season behind him.

I understand our strategy, but at some point we’ll need to pay out, it’s been nearly a decade without out a good striker!

Frey was our top scorer last season with EIGHT league goals. I’d bite your hand off for a 12-goal striker this season. I really hope selling Kelman doesn’t come back to haunt us.

As things stood, we were never likely to get that kind of money for him ever again.

Think he was with us four seasons. In the two seasons he was in our squad he never once looked a player, I don’t think he’d ever fit our preferred system. In the two seasons at Orient, he’s seen a promotion and a play off final.

Some teams set up around a centre forward, we set up despite a centre forward.

Take the money and try to correct ourselves with it. As I’ve mentioned before, we could make Haaland look like a donkey. The thinking needs to change.

Seems like he wanted to leave so best to get a fee for him…more concerning is how and who we get to sign as replacement.
