Absolutely abysmal performance, the most effort he put in was to run off the pitch when he got subbed!

You prefer Celar to Frey??? Really? Why?

So you don’t value goals or work rate or winning headers

You just prefer some misplaced aesthetic

I can’t see that as anything other than completely moronic

I found your response offensive. We may disagree about the skills of our strikers, that's what the board is for but there is no need to be downright rude

Answer: Celar

Question: what is the one QPR player that makes Dykes look good.

Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. He runs like a cheetah, his crosses couldn't be sweeter. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore.

It seems to me Celar hasn't come to terms with the speed and physicality of the Championship. Maybe he could, eventually, but the clock's surely ticking. I suspect the Swiss league isn't particularly noted for its hustle and bustle. Time on the ball is something you have to work hard for here, it's not a gimme.

Far be it for me to be the voice of reason but....It's the first game, he's just recovered from injury and had a baby. I'm minded to give him another few games before I pile in on him.

I remeber when we started to get behind Zamora as a joke and look what happened.

Can't say my patience will hold for long though.

If he had a baby then fair enough.

But it'd have to be HIM having the baby. Like rectal arse baby. Otherwise, get yourself off to League One before you take us there.

That said, I was at Paul Furlong's last match before he got good.

Agree with OP 100%. Celar is like Dykes but without the workmate or intimidation factor. People always said of Dykes "he holds up the ball we''" or "he works hard". Arghhhh. We need a striker who gets in the box and put the ball on target, who creates chances by his positioning and shooting. Celar is nowhere to be sen. We have at least four players (Chair, Dembele, and Poku and Madsen) who are looking to get the ball into the box, but whenever they do, there is no-one ready to get on the end of their ball in. Yesterday, Dembele and Poku kept racing down the wings and when they looked up for a target there was no-one there to receive. Its maddening. What the fck does Celar think his job is? Hang out just out of range until the last possible moment and then throw his hands up is surprise??? Make a fckin run to the front post, or back post (depending on the situation) so that you are in the dangerous spot before the defender!!!

Weird isn't that no one seems to like our strikers... Dykes, Frey and Celar, absolutely got nothing to do with the formation we play and that they're a lone striker/target!

Celar is not and will never be good enough to represent QPR in the Championship.....why so many posters see it differently is because they do not understand the game property. Of course he will score the odd goal, do something decent in the march, etc, etc but he is nowhere near the level required. And please do not suggest he meant to do what happened for his involvement in our goal....it was shear luck bit I suppose he was there!!!

I thought, and it turned out to be pretty near the mark, that Dykes was poor.........BUT give me Dykes instead, he adds more than Celar.

this might be a shock to you but he already is!

One of the first things Julien mentioned in his post game comments was that they need someone to be in the box and get on the end of those crosses. That is job #1 for a striker

Celar's positioning & movement to anticipate a cut back to edge of 6 yard box was very good.

I haven't given up hope he can adapt to the Championship.

We need a mobile target man who's semi quick and can win the outball like he did for yesterday's goal.

So few of our fans understand the role & responsibilities of a lone striker in a 4-2-3-1 formation in Championship football.

If they can do that role & chip in with between 1:3 more likely 1:4 goals and be ever present you've got your 1-2 million pounds worth.

We need to back Celar & hope he comes good.

Mostly this, yeah. Celar for me is the epitome of a Replacement Level Player, to borrow a Moneyball term. He knows the game enough not to embarrass himself, but we could find another player kicking around on a free who will contribute exactly the same.

Look at it this way, if we'd had a guy called Gianni Sellers on trial from Concord Rangers, 13 caps for British Virgin Islands, YouTube channel packed with worldies, manager says he's got the best nose for goal he's ever seen at that level, and then he copies Celar's performance against Preston kick for kick. Would you be worried about missing out on a generational talent if you didn't sign him up? Or would you think, nah, not ready for this level, and we've got Lloyd and Kolli as medium-term projects already?

Question: Which QPR footballer has a game(s) to goal conversion of 11.5 games per goal (and 0 assists). Or equivalent of a goal every 472 minutes.
Clue: It’s not Nardi or Walsh.

I think that's a view shared above as a possible factor. Only seen him against Toulouse and on the box against PNE. It struck me: this isn't his position/a role his best suited to.

I still think the first manager to break the lone-striker obsession will be hailed a genius and Zan in a two-up-top might yield something from him. As I say: might.

Think we bought the wrong dress for the ball.

Call me old fashioned but if your lone striker isn’t there to score quite a lot of goals then he should be doing other things very well.

100% agree,

But so many of our fans think he should be doing all these other things and scoring at a rate of 1 in 2 or something close to 20 goals,

It's the only position on the pitch where youre marked by 2 opposition players so Β£1m to Β£2m outlay and you need to be realistic.

I don't think it's unrealistic to want him to do some of those other things and score at a rate of more than once a year.

I think you are wrong with the fans expectations as the bar is so low with strikers that the vast majority would be happy if they just got into double figures

Unfortunately Celar doesn't even look like having 10 shots this season let alone goals and as the rest of his game is also poor he's a liability and doesn't warrant starting imo

In my view, the bigger issue is that, for the last few years, the entire squad has had the cutting edge of a Tommee Tippee spoon. We don't score many, we're not clinical and we rely heavily on our old mate OG.

Let's hope for an improvement as the season unfolds.

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

Precisely. If he were a Heider Helguson - or even a poorer variant - battering defenders, earning penalties, bringing attacking midfielders into play I'd be perfectly happy with a centre forward who scores maybe 10 goals in 35 games a season. Which is kind of what Frey does except he can't complete enough minutes. I think fan expectations have grown reasonably muted...
