Carabao Cup 08:50 - Aug 10 with 4369 views | kernowhoop | For once, the early August League Cup match looks like an opportunity, instead of a nuisance - to work on a few things and learn from our mistakes.
Carabao Cup on 09:55 - Aug 10 with 2538 views | Logman | The priority has got to be no injuries to key players so I think half the team will be rested. I imagine all the subs from Saturday will get a game. Maybe also Akendilini, Pearman and Tylon Smith. and then I'd keep a few of Morgan, Chair, Field and maybe Mbengue in. [Post edited 10 Aug 9:56]

Plymouth are also having a few issues, so possibly a good time to play them. Might be a good game.

I’d take them down a day early, send the coach home at Dartmoor, load them up with a 25kg backpack and tell them we’re running all the way to Plymouth. We’d lose but they might comeback a bit fitter.
Carabao Cup on 10:20 - Aug 10 with 2465 views | nadera78 | Given that several substitutions yesterday were to do with "load management" and overall we looked lacking in fitness, I think it's guaranteed they're going to use it as another opportunity to get minutes into some players. Winning this particular football match is secondary.

Here we go again, why should that be the priority? Why are we not capable of playing one cup game without everyone's legs exploding? Why do we need to rest players after....erm....1 game of the season? There is one priority in my mind, win the game, progress through to the next round. A winning mentality. It's out there somewhere.

Yes, why the need for any cotton wool? No one on the 4 leagues had a longer break from competitive than Championship footballers. We finished on Sat 3rd May and started on Sat 9th Aug. 1/4 of a year and a week. No other league had longer - Prem finished late May, L1 and 2 started this term earlier. Why the need for careful loading for fit young early-20s athletes? Play full strength team at Plymouth and go out 100% to do everything to progress to the next round of a major professional football cup competition, the winning game of which represented this great club's greatest ever triumph. Radical and ridiculous suggestion i know. [Post edited 10 Aug 11:31]

Carabao Cup on 12:13 - Aug 10 with 2059 views | dmm | Given there are no more 3 game weeks before an international break on the w/e of 6 & 7 September (can't be many of our squad playing then can there?), there's every reason to field as full a strength side as possible.

We are capable of starting the season with nearly half of the first team missing! We are capable of losing at least one player in the first game of the season. I am all for a good cup run but imagine Sam Field hobbling off on Tuesday night. Queens Pragmatic Rangers for me against Plymouth.

Agree 100% We must at least, try and improve our woefully poor honours list. Not only that, we are getting a reputation as being a pushover for any lower league side that's lucky enough to draw us in the cups.
Carabao Cup on 13:06 - Aug 10 with 1896 views | QPROslo | Would be great to have a Cup run. The problem as always with the League Cup, is that this first round is squeezed into the first week of the season between the first 2 League games of the season and we usually already have many players out injured. Apart from PL teams already excluded I think most Clubs have had a longish break beforehand so why not play this first round the weekend before the League starts. Spread the games out when they can

Carabao Cup on 13:27 - Aug 10 with 1813 views | simmo | I'm split as a cup advocate, but also the team can't stand up for falling down atm and considering Saturday alone had 2 more injuries and another couple of enforced subs - I'm worried that we completely fck ourselves if we lose more players Tuesday at the same rate... But with the injury situation I don't think we'll have much choice anyway. Something like... Walsh Adamson Cook Akindineli Esq Field Tuck Vale Madsen Chair Celar Solomon, Mbengue, Morrison, Morgan, Sutton, Kolli, Burrell

As Nourry said at the fans forum that we didn't rotate enough last season (I'm sure many fans felt we rotated too much) I expect to see as close to eleven changews as they can. I'm not saying that this is what we should do, but what I think we will do! One player you've not mentioned who I expect to start is Pearman. In my eyes he was our best player in pre season games.

I also didnt add Bennie, who in hindsight should probably be involved. He's the best of that younger group imo, certainly physically, he just needs to pin down a position. Pearman looks much too weak to me, atm, but looked an exciting prospect.

Didn't they do that in 2020/21 the COVID season of empty stadiums. I think we lost......at Plymouth☹️

Carabao Cup on 19:36 - Aug 10 with 1209 views | davman | Maybe, just maybe, if we can actually start the fckn season with a squad that does not need massive surgery (figuratively and actually) we might be able to take the First Round of the League Cup seriously? Plymouth are ripe for the taking, but not by our kids. Good luck to anyone mad enough to be there. I'll pass thanks...
