Carabao Cup 08:50 - Aug 10 with 11980 views | kernowhoop | For once, the early August League Cup match looks like an opportunity, instead of a nuisance - to work on a few things and learn from our mistakes.

Carabao Cup on 18:11 - Aug 11 by EuroRanger | I understand the call for wins and a cup run, but we'd all be fuming if he started a strong side and they all ended up crocked. I'd be happy with a mix of younger players and a few older ones (e.g. Nardi, Cook) if it means we have a team fit for the weekend against Watford. We can't all say that the beginning of the season is hugely important this year and then also want no rotation of players against a pretty poor Plymouth side. |
How many times over the years have we rested players from the cup games, only to lose the league game after that? I seem to recall we lose almost every time with an occasional draw. Unless they are injured , select a strong team. I am glad that this is an away game and I am not wasting my time or money watching a team largely from the DS .

I ran the rule over this last time it came up. There's no pattern, ie we are just as likely to lose a game after a cup game as any other. We've lost a lot of games over the last few seasons.

I don't see why "we would all be fuming". No-one wants our players to get injured, but why would it be any more infuriating if they get injured trying to win a cup match than if they get injured during a league game or in training? They are footballers, let them play football. We are a football club, with an aim to win competitions, let's have a go at that. Who cares if we come 16th, 19th, whatever. We've seen that many times. Latter rounds of the cups - not seen much of that.

Carabao Cup on 15:05 - Aug 11 by QPRSam | Myke, WLS just said there will be young players in the squad. Just like the Preston game we had Esquerdinha, Morgan, Kolli, Bennie, Sutton, Mccann in the squad. There is no difference and you could quite literally copy and paste. "New boss, same shite" Based on what? Let's not just start writing off a manager based on assumptions and previous QPR managers. We're talking about a bloke who has won a major domestic cup in his country. That's rubbish talking about him like that before we've even seen the team sheet, imo |
Well Sam anyone that knows me for the length of time I'm posting is aware that I never resort personal insults no matter how much I differ from the other person's opinion. I will gladly debate any topic as long as both parties respect the other viewpoint. I have no time for rudeness. So with regard to you describing my viewpoint as 'rubbish' in my belief that Stephan will prioritise survival over a potential cup run all that I will say is we know pretty soon which of us is talking the least sense.

They’re all crocked anyway and it has nothing to do with cup games. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Carabao Cup on 21:43 - Aug 11 with 1871 views | HammersmithR | I’m sick and tired every flaming year that we mess around with below par teams in the cups. Look at the joy that Palace fans have had with the FA Cup. Can we pls have a manager take it seriously so we can have some progression in the cup? We have been to the QF of the FA Cup once in over 25 years! I think the 5th round is the best in the league cup in however long. Going to take me a while to warm to this bloke if this is attitude towards the cups.

Well he's already spouting some drivel about having a game on Saturday. Well, rest them for that then if they can't cope. There will be another lesgue game along soon enough, unlike the cup.

I really don’t understand either this notion that it seems to be ok to be injured in a league game but not ok in a cup game.

Seeing as we haven't had a top half finish in the championship for several seasons, it's strange how the team approaches cup competitions, which have more chance of unexpected joys and glories ahead !!!! But all teams do this. And yet all teams play out from the back via the goalkeeper too !!! Much of modern football is hard to understand. If we were to be truly radical, we would stop doing what everybody else does and do things our way and see where that takes us !!!!

Carabao Cup on 11:33 - Aug 12 with 1071 views | DavieQPR | This type of match is looked on as giving players some game time. It would not be sensible to sit them on the bench for ages and then expect miracles when we are forced to call on them. Ideal matches for the likes of Nardi, Cook, Vale, Burrell, etc.
Carabao Cup on 12:00 - Aug 12 with 982 views | GaryBannister86 | A team of DS players according to WLS. Absolute disgrace. They should refund the ticket price to the 900 going, even if we fluke our way through. Still, at least it guarantees us a 4-0 win at Watford.

This may go against the prevalent thinking but I am quite excited by seeing some of our youth given a go. I am attending and want us to win. I also went last year and we drew 1-1 and were pretty poor throughout. I live in hope.
