Less than 24 hours to go until Kick off..

I am very much looking forward to getting back to league action at Spotland.

Should be a great crowd and atmosphere.

Up the Dale.

Came back strongly after being on the back foot for most of the first half. Up to our goal, looked pretty much the same as last season Mani D apart. Our midfield second best

Looking forward to seeing some new blood in the second half

Looking a lot more dangerous from corners. Did their keeper take the ball outside the penalty area? Looked to have done so from here in the Sandy?
Alty look very slick on the ball.

Second best in midfield for much of the game, although Barlow did well. Two good goals and Alty are not to be underestimated. Hoping for a better second half from us, it still feels a bit pedestrian so far.

C'mon Dale

Entertaining game, good win.

Thought Altrincham more than played their part.

Yes, Alty will do ok this season

Impressed with our resilience after taking the lead, Tutonda especially put in a defensive shift whilst looking threatening further up the pitch after he came on, but everyone played their part including Whatmuff who looked assured and with important blocks

Liked the more active touchline and subs made at the right time. Promising start

No, he took his hand off it as it slid out.

Winner looks to have been awarded to Alty's Golden (Golden share of the goal?)

Carlisle losing at home to Boreham Wood at half time.

Anyone in the main stand able to shed some light on Jason Taylor’s apparent red card?

He threw the ball into the tunnel to delay an Altrincham throw in.

Holding onto the ball when it went out of play into the dug out?

Naughty boy.

Very avoidable (i avoided it - didn't see it!) but at the same time, if that's the kind of toughening up in terms of our game management he's bringing to the coaching setup, i'm really pleased he's on board

With Matty Done to the right and Taylor to the left of JM, they looked like a team with JM as the head but with heart and stomach added

A battling performance against very worthy opponents. I think we would have struggled to see that game out last season, we showed some resiliance in the later stages of the game. Credit to McNulty for managing the substitutions also, it must be easier for him when you have the likes of Pritchard on the bench. He put in a great cameo. Watmuff also deserves a mention, he played his part with two late saves to secure the points.
Excellent three points with plenty of improvement still to come. The atmosphere in the Smith Metal Stand was very good with the singing section in place and those responsible for the flags around the stadium have really enhanced the matchday experience. Finally, the stewards are a big upgrade on what we've been used to and the new turnstile entry system seemed to be working well.

Quite, but then folk can't moan when other teams adopt similar practices.

I thought the same when Mani got booked. A player fired up and passionate, who cares.
It was an Alty payer who dragged him away and calmed him down. All credit to their player for that.

Great win and Mani D is a huge upgrade on Mitchell (sorry Kairo). Impressed by Whatmuff too staying solid at the end and his kicks are HUGE! I think once the team get more familiar with them they could be a huge weapon ( Mani D at least twice today was more or less through on goal with them). Thought the ref was poor stopping the game too much for minimal contact (except when Gordon was shoved to the ground in the area which was probably the only time he didn't give a foul!). All in all a great start to the season - roll on Wednesday!

Its a BRILLIANT goal to cap a BRILLIANT start by Rochdale - Don Goodman 26/08/10

It’s only early days of course, but Whatmuff’s inexperience has proven to be a non-factor already. His confidence and all round demeanour is that of a keeper in his mid-20s, decision making is very good. He reads the game really well.

He’ll no doubt make mistakes, but what keeper doesn’t? His saves helped ensure three points in a game where, like Halifax and Gateshead last season, it could have gone either way against a side willing to have a go.

Good point. Waller's penalty save at Halifax earned us a draw, as did his bravery with basically one leg in the freezing cold at Gateshead to earn us all three points.

I meant Halifax at home, but yeah, the same point (literally at the Shay) applies.
