Call me anti Scottish if you like, but it's really anti the two Glasgow clubs.
I laughed, but as Club Brugge are a far better team, I didn't find it as funny as Celtic failing to score over both matches against the champions of Azerbiijan. And then having three penalties saved in the shootout! [Post edited 28 Aug 9:40]

I'm sure Russell Martin is a lovely bloke, but I'm really enjoying just how shi t Rangers are at the moment. Partly because his footballing philosophy is boring, but mainly because it's funny watching a club which has 'Simply the best' as it's anthem, struggling against Dundee and getting smashed 6-0 after 50 minutes in Belgium. Hopefully we may be returning to a time when possession stats aren't the number one thing taken into consideration when appointing a head coach. |  |

Glad you enjoyed them - I watched a few too when I remembered they were on. As you say, not the greatest in terms of technique, but quite a few derbies, old school grounds under the lights with a decent atmosphere, and teams going at it.
Arbroath, Ayr, and Raith are on my list of grounds I have to get to at some point. Would love to see this mad stand at some point too:

While Celtic certainly haven't impressed in the champions league (although they were ok last season bar one thrashing), Rangers haven't won a game at that level for a very long time and last time they qualified for the CL produced the worst group stage performance in the competition's history.
On the other hand Rangers reached the Europa league final a few years back and have had some good results in that competition in other years.
English fans may sneer, but there's no money in Scottish football compared to what premiership teams (even at the bottom of the table) get every season just for turning up.
The lack of competitive games in the SPL is obviously a factor but also it isn't easy to attract top quality players to that league. Celtic in recent seasons have signed some good young players but as soon as they start performing consistently a richer club from England or elsewhere comes and signs them. I'd like to see how premiership teams would go in Europe without 90% of the TV money and these other factors to contend with.
All of that said, Celtic have no excuse for not being able to score a goal against a team from Kazakhstan over two games. [Post edited 29 Aug 4:53]
