Just back 16:08 - Aug 30 with 6165 views | Gloucs_R | Well, back to a mates house who came with us. Delighted we won that, desperately needed a win. Kone, we've got ourselves a proper striker. Puts himself about, takes his chances and has a decent amount of pace. Defence looks a lot better today. Mbengue looks a quality signing. Love him already. Midfield Vale pressed well but lacks a bit of pace. Madsden did ok today on the second half Varane didn't really do much, not sure what the bust up with Morrison on the first half was all about by Walsh had to get in between them Dembele frustrates. Needs to learn from the little šÆšµā Burrell caused then problems with his pace. Walsh, please please please can we give him then next few games off. Confidence is shot and fans turning on him how. Totally at fault for the goal, distribution poor and dropped a couple too Now.... Where do I start..... Saito, everything you want from a player. Energy, commitment, flair. Brilliant display and lifted the crowd and the team. Charlton were poor though. We got a bit lucky in places and need to move the ball with pace...but happy with them win [Post edited 30 Aug 16:10]

I thought Varane was suberb today , he intercepted so many passes , Kone is the striker we all wanted but pace ? I didnāt see that . On the evidence so far he can take chances when they come which is what we want but he isnāt easy on the eye IMO

I donāt see Kone having great pace either and doesnāt quite look 100% fit yet but what he is, is a bloody awkward unit to deal with who can finish and hold it up. Thereās āeasy on the eyeā and thereās āeffective.ā He was effective today and will only get better (and quicker over 10 yards) with match sharpness.

Yeah, very different interpretations, I thought Varane was poor. Big Madsen critic, but he had a very good first half an hour before gradually fading in my eyes. Thought Varane never really got into the game, fell over a few times, kept under hitting his passes, and just wasnāt really āonā it.. Kone and Saito were class. RND at left back, very solid.

I think the only way Walsh gets dropped is if we have a few consecutive heavy losses, whick know one wants. We need to get behind him, and hopefully once we get a settled back four, his confidence will improve. Came of his line well today and did make a couple of good saves. I need to see a replay of the goal to totally lay the blame on Walsh. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Just back on 16:58 - Aug 30 with 3650 views | baz_qpr | Just back myself here is my two penneth First 30 minutes I thought we played well. Vale did very well in the ten despite having no pace. Really good goal he won't get the assist but Kone's dummy made that happen. However after 30 minutes we looked out on our feet again fitness wise and we were rocking and managed to hold on to half time. 2nd Half Kolli brought some energy and it was pretty even until the goal. Sorry but Walsh has to save that. Saito sub changed the game along with Burrell, brilliant goal from Saito but we were still nervy and showed a lack of game smarts in the last few minutes, until Kone finished it off. Great relief all around, a lot more direct the only time we tried to play out from the back we royally cocked it up. Looking at the performances, I get why Walsh had to play today, but I think after the international break we have to make the change. Command of the area is great, kicking is very poor and today he costs us a goal and nearly the game. Defence wise Norrington Davies did very well. Mbengue lucky to stay on the pitch but gives us a lot, Morrison lacked confidence but was OK in the end Dunne had a very poor first half and looks pretty unfit to me. In the midfield I thought Madsen had a decent game and was the pick of them. Varane again off the pace a bit especially on the ball. Smyth had a very good first half but was shattered after 30 mins Dembele again disappointed. Sub wise Kolli did a really good job 2nd half. Saito changed the game and was magnificent. I dont think Hayden touched the ball after he came on. On to Kone, first time I've seen him in the flesh, like to think I'm a pretty good judge of players. This guy is the real deal. Probably lacks a yard of pace to be at the very top, but smart, strong, good in the air, good with his feet and 2 goals in less than 180 minutes of football. Calling it now best striker since Austin 1.0 Burrell was also super useful when he came on giving us pace and threat. Made a really stupid decision to cross to the keeper in the last few minutes when he should have gone to the flag if I was Stephen I would have been fuming, led to a dangerous attack too. Overall exactly what we needed, a reset, two weeks to try and get some bloody fitness into this team. Chant of the day. "How shit must you be we just lost 7-1"

Yeah, that's what I understood. Previously, it wasn't just that we weren't going to beat anyone for pace, it was that even routine defenders could outpace our forwards.

We donāt often agree, Baz, but I agree with all of that except Kolli (thought he had a very poor whilst still being energetic - trying too hard??) and Madsen definitely faded after that good start, which was part of the reason we lost control. Completely agree on Kone. A proper centre forward. Feed him and he will score. But heāll feed himself too. Their no. 5 knew heād been in a game. Animal. Reminds me of Paul Furlong in his pomp.

I'd actually do the opposite. Give him 20 games, tell him you're No1. Then review. He hasn't cost us any points yet. It hasn't helped him that the backline keeps getting change, it needs a settled back 5. Also, fans singing for Nardi are not helping.

Just back on 17:10 - Aug 30 with 3427 views | stevec | Havenāt seen their goal on tv yet but at the ground the Charlton fella totally mishit shot and think it might be a little harsh to condemn Walsh for not saving it. Whilst I doubt he would have saved it even if he had reacted quickly his feet seemed absolutely rooted and wonder if nerves getting to him after the shell shock of last week. Got to be honest, Iām not entirely sure what the tactics are, the word improv comes to mind. That said it was quite enjoyable.

| And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
Thatās there thatās two, and thatās Bowles

Bit harsh on the left back. Probably what we need - steady and experienced 6/10 each week. Think a few have gone overboard with our centre backs today. Thought Mbengue was superb first half but faded badly and donāt remember either of them winning a header second half. I like them both though and think could be the right pairing.

Yeah I thought Morrison did OK but Mbengue, as lovable as he is, did some bizarre play on occasions and although I detest Nathan Jones with a passion, many referees would have given him a second yellow. I don't understand Field being left out, very harsh in my opinion. A fully fit Varane is going to make an impact this season, though, if we keep him.
Just back on 18:00 - Aug 30 with 2833 views | slmrstid | Today was a good day. Did the team show potential for positivity today? Yes. Did it have periods being bloody awful? Yes. Did it win? Yes. Is winning fun? Absobloodylutely.
Just back on 18:01 - Aug 30 with 2817 views | Lblock | Kone with 2 in 2 is great and he has offered more in those than Celar did in his whole ācareerā here so far. Howeverā¦. I didnāt see Kone win one header cleanly today. Madsen had his best game. Heās miles away from what we need still but credit to him and he was putting it in especially in the second half. Dembele frustrates the shoite out of me. I find his approach lazy and a tad cowardly at times. Heās the total opposite of Smyth on the other flank. Fair play to Smudge he was brilliant for 45 and hope he recovers over the break from his twinge. My final harsh view is Mbeugnue (sp). One fantastic burst out with the ball first half and he has tremendous pace and attitude. I can however see why weād take Ronnie back if possible as this fella has bags to learn, so lucky not to get a red or give away a penalty and heāll have more cards than Clintons at Christmas. I thought a draw wouldāve been a fair result but that makes the three points against that dick Jones even sweeter. Tougher tests ahead but a win is a win and lovely to have 4 points on the board plus a victory before an international break is always fantastic

Yes, Mbengue had a mad twenty minutes in the second half. Taiwo came to mind. Reckless and out of position. Very lovable though. His commitment is great. Have to say thought Burell was superb when he came on. Pace, spirit and ability. Love it.

On TV it looked like Mbengue had a pretty bad game except for that amazing run when he got crushed in the tackle, got the crowd fired up then fell down grabbing his hip area. Close to giving away a penalty constantly being caught on the wrong side leads to bad sh*t happening to us. Lots of dangerous frees to Charlton luckily their delivers were mostly bad and despite all his dteractors Walsh did save a near post rocket .Agreed he looks shaky and cannot catch cleanly which causes panic in our Defense . Great 3rd goal explosion of relief and joy at Loftus Road came across loud and clear .3 golden points pity about the break we are on a winning streak and always lose the first game back
