NL Cup v Blackburn u21s 18:28 - Sep 16 with 8224 views442Dale

Surprised to see so many who finished the game on Saturday start tonight, thought it was only 4 required?

That bench has more Dale appearances than whole squads in recent years.

Surprised to see Beckwith and Tobi starting with no defenders on the bench. I'm sure there will be a cunning plan.

Similarly TAR but Griffiths could be brought on early for him. Could go to a four or bring Done on at LWB with Berkoe moved sideways by taking Beckwith off.

It was much better when he could change all 11…

Who knew?

Anyway, think I might be wrong about the amount of players involved in the prior game as we had six start against Burnley after beating Boreham Wood.

No Tutonda or Berger. Presumably both injured?
The absence of the former may explain the presence of Beckwith?

Burger on the bench. McNulty said Tutonda was injured hence the signing of Berkoe who is staying at LWB with Done left central defender.

Patrick Berger?

Jake Burger is on the bench and McNulty mentioned about Tutonda's injury on Saturday.

1-0, McBride. Good finish.

Here’s a question: is Matty Done the first to have had four separate spells as a Dale player?

Losing 2-1 now. Blackburn getting in behind too easily. Line is too high.

I don’t know how many subs are allowed but Forest Green made four changes in the first two minutes of their game tonight.

Good win in the end. McBride has been good again, as he has all season when he’s had time on the pitch. Thought Burger made a difference when he came on too. We’ve so many options in those areas that you hope those currently holding the shirts are pushed to improve further.

Poor first half, much better second half, Burger always provides some energy and did well. Pity that Mancini picked up another injury. Winning becomes a habit, so pleased with the result.

I hear we are thinking of swapping Mancini for Mason Mount.

Burgers body language and facial expression spoke volumes after he scored. He is obviously far from happy with his current situation within the squad and was only used today when Mancini was injured. Pettit looked to be trying to gee him up as they walked back to the centre circle after the goal. Always thought it would be tough for Jim to keep everyone happy. With Mancini injured again it might be an opportunity for Burger to re establish himself in the matchday squad ? I hope so.

Said it before, Burger has almost always impressed when he’s had a chance. Whether that be in central midfield or further forward. He was one of the few who did ok at Brackley - always looks to carry the ball forward.

Not sure what it is, but unsure whether he fits into the manager’s long term plans which is a shame as he’s a very good footballer.

Done's 311th appearance for Dale tonight, moving him above Dave Thompson into sixth place in the club's all-time list, the top 10 being:

332 Reg Jenkins
326 Ray Aspden

I thought exactly the same, no interaction with any of the players when he scored, after a good set up from Allarakhia which he failed to acknowledge. I'm a big fan of Burger but at the moment the starting eleven picks itself. If he's going to sulk about it then a loan to another club might be better for him.

Nine wins from our first ten competitive games is some start, congratulations to the manager, coaches and players on that achievement. I still don't think we are at our best yet though, we've played in fits and starts. Still loads of improvement to come and every member of the squad needs to buy into the project. Beat Southend on Saturday and we become serious title contenders i think, we have the players to do it and should fear nobody in this league. Let's ride the wave and energise the Rochdale public to get off their backsides and get up to Spotland. We're top of the league and we should be shouting about it.

Southend will be tough, our biggest test yet and to do it without our talisman upfront even more so. Mani has been the main difference from last season and the main reason we are top of the league - his goals alone have given us the wins v Boreham wood, Sutton and Braintree. Yes as you've said we are not a 1 man team but he is a massive part in that cog. Amanchi didn't really stake his claim last night so Jim had a dilemma. Obviously with his size he's the obvious replacement and Southend are very dangerous from set pieces so that may swing his decision or does he play Rodney more central and bring McBride into the starting X1? We couldn't beat Southend in 3 attempts last season and they beat us twice at Spotland so we have a score to settle. It will be a massive result if we could do it on Saturday.

We caused Southend all sorts of problems in the Play Off game for 76 minutes and that was without Mani, no reason why we can't do that again. I watched Wealdstone beat them a couple of weeks ago and defensively they were all over the place everytime Wealdstone went forward. On the flip side they are decent going forward themselves and Dallas is a handful. A repeat of how we approached the play off game, minus the stuff we saw after 76 minutes will be good enough to beat them i think. I'm assuming McNulty will have seen footage of their recent performances and will realise that attack will be our best form of defence on Saturday, safe in the knowledge that we have a goalkeeper who is proving to be reliable and a slimmed down version of EEL who has been one of our standout performers this season.

I think he'll start with Amantchi, he's been in front of Hendo this season who hasn't been on the bench recently. Amantchi needs the ball playing in front of him, he's always got his back to goal when he receives it. His physicality and height will be useful. If he can't be trusted to start then we need to bring in a replacement for him because we would only be left with Hendo as a recognised forward and he's slowly being put out to grass. I don't view McBride as a goalscoring forward. They are all capable anyway, whoever he picks.
