It's against QPR and talk on their forums suggest they want too take their protests to the next level by getting game abandoned. Could be interesting.

Away fans doing their bit at Hillsborough is one thing, Wednesday fans enacting their protests to the extent of trying to get games abandoned at other grounds seems a bit disrespectful. And I’m not just saying that because it’s ‘us’.

I think they have the sympathy of most other fans atm but that could easily change.

Well, we’ve been there with the locked training ground and buckets at games. We had support and sympathy from other fans for that.

I see it as an issue that we’d be in were it not for the grace of god.

Also, anything that pokes the football establishment in the eye is a good thing. I respect action and not whinging.

They’ve been placed under two new embargoes for not showing they have funds to complete the season.

Good luck to them. Some things bigger than 90 minutes.

Grimsby fans were supportive yesterday apparently.

I’m all for our fans being supportive, I’m just a little concerned that, at this place, that sympathy might creep into our teams performance.

I'm planning to go to this game. First away.for a while as my daughter now lives in Sheffield having gone to Uni there and decided to stay.

Any suggestions for pre match pub around the ground rather then the city centre as she lives near Hillsborough?

The Tap at the station is popular, lots of beers on offer.

Kelham Island is also very popular with the hipsters, on the way out of town towards Hillsborough

Howard, infamous in Sheffield-lore for being the destination of choice in the early 00s for those that hadn't been to bed, therefore providing visitors to Sheffield with the spectacle as they leave the station of a load of spangled 'Crasher cyber-kids sprawled out on the grass chewing their faces off.

that vital game years back, when we went up, owls were horrible fans, when any club hits the fan and many do, it is their issue.
who helped us out when in admin for 2 years? etc
blackburn have issues with the venkys?? Morecambe? i can only worry about QPR and don't we have enough to worry about ?

if they protest, i can accept that. if game abandoned , club could be fined, docked points , which could lead to a slump into admin and more points off. GOOD let them do their best.

Used to drive through Penistone regularly when taking my lad to and from Uni, always raised a puerile smirk from me.

Quite a decent curry house there IIRC.

Especially as we were damn lucky not to have promotion taken away from us over the Faurlin episode.

But not so luicky in still paying a fine which when first inflicted was the biggest sporting fine in history if I am not mistaken. It was reduced I admit but I guess even the FL could not justify the original.

Love a peurile smirk.
My eldest was at Sheffield too. Once driving in from Derbyshire not on the motorway there were some road works at which we stopped at the red light. This happened to be at the junction with Stanhope Road...

The final settlement included 22m of the 42m being written off shareholder loans to the club, which perversely was a good outcome for the club (obviously not for the shareholders).

Ah the big boys threatening to cut mine and my 12 year old sons throats.

Nowadays those maggots are 24 stone ill fitting tops , arseholes.

I hope they go bankrupt, a) because they need to go and b) they are , based on my experience, utter merchants.

Leave now, and never go back!

Was actually on the way to and from Durham - used to stop over at my mother-in-law's in the Derbyshire Peaks so she could see her grandson and then do the Northern Leg.

Sheffield's a fine city, mind.

I lived there for ten years in the 00s, loved the place. Some great little nooks and crannies, some great 'scenes', and has a wonderful small town intimacy for a big city. We still visit often when in the country to see friends. Mind you, the city centre has always looked run down, but these days it's looking _very_ unloved, especially on the walk in from the bottom end by the Moor.

Not that I wish ill on them (even after 2004) but was glad to see we were playing there early on though knowing QPR, they'll find some way to fk it up.

I do wish them ill. Life is too short to not be bitter about something minor that happened nearly 20 years ago at a very forgettable 1-0 away defeat.

1200 or so hardy souls who have been treated like crap there time and again will hopefully see a football match. If there’s a serious chance the match won’t be playable then they should be made to forfeit which saves people time and money schlepping hours there and back and still sends whatever message it’s meant to send. Home fans are welcome to protest outside and boycott the match itself.

agreed, i don't get the 'good luck to them sentiment' when it's QPR players and supporters that will suffer.

there are other ways to protest

I guess they’re two separate topics. I totally get the ‘there but for the grace of God’ line of thinking and totally sympathise with it but SW is just a club I have a personal dislike for which I don’t expect many people to share.

Bury was (is) a club I had (have) a lot of time for and it was just allowed to happen with very little fuss.

so what are the EFL doing apart from sending out stupid surveys?
they must have agreed the owls chairman and board were fit and proper?
sat back as bills and maintenance were not up to standard and/or paid?

we have been thru it, a few times, as have charlton, palace, derby , southend etc
football is a debt ridden sport and is allowed to continue, the gap between prem and championship is bigger by the game . see how far you have to scroll on the bbc football page to find championship mentioned??!! yet it is one of the biggest in world football.
chelsea and man city will just drag prem lge and fa thru courts for years as little done, maybe a straight 10pts deducted and then let them make their case?

protests in the past by clubs, us on pitch, tennis balls. someone did teddy bears? banners, planes flying over with messages....you have to get media attention .
