It was a completely fair 50/50 tackle. You could hear the sound of the ball being squished between the two players. It was an outrageous piece of gamesmanship by Pearson who after rolling around like Margot Fonteyn and limping off like Douglas Bader, was fine to come straight back on and sprint over to remonstrate with the referee, before immediately running 40 yards up the pitch to hack down Kone and get a yellow card.

That makes sense, I was thinking during the game that Stoke's shithousery was right up there with Preston's.
Mark Robins probably learned all the tricks of the trade playing under Fergie at Yanited.
But Fergie and Yanited in their day were the biggest power in the land. It would be a brave ref who stood up to their pressure or held a grudge and waited to settle the score.
Preston and Stoke in the Championship are a completely different kettle of fish.
I wouldn't be surprised if there are a few refs out there yearning for the opportunity to get one back on Pearson.
What goes around comes around :-)

Agreed, thought the moment when their keeper and defender both went down feigning head injuries when we were looking to recycle and attack again, then claimed they were fine as soon as the whistle blew, was particularly shameful.
Enjoyed us playing them at their own game late on though, when they wanted to take a quick throw-in but the ballboy (or ballgirl?) threw a second ball on the pitch and the ref brought play back.

There was a close up on sky of the 'wound' followed by another of pearson on sidelines pointing at the pound of mince that used to be his ankle.
Great stuff.

A brilliant character and definitely a whole hearted player, but will get a few reds without a little bit of thought around some of the venom, which does him well mostly but there will always be that challenge.
If he wasn't, a red card waiting to happen, would say if fit, he is a guaranteed starter.
Currently Morrison is the first centre back on the team sheet and I think if JCS returns and keeps fit - big if - he is the other guaranteed starter. Cook will get games too, although bit concerned about his loss of pace completely now, seemingly, so yes still the need for Edwards in January.
Would love Mbuenge to be a starter as he is full value and box office to watch, however he could be an accident waiting to happen in tight games.
Can this part of his game be coached out of him. Personally I doubt it. It's part of his DNA and makes him the player he is.
A red-card waiting to happen is one thing, a defender getting one is an additional issue if he gets it in the penalty area. Goals are hard enough to come by with handing them to the opposition on a plate.
I'm not saying I don't find him entertaining, but he's also a potential loss of points.

Did not see the tackle yet but I would not be shocked if he is red carded in a game soon which we have to avoid . Maybe its the fact the Refs are not familiar with him yet but his reputation is probably spreading already and will be noticed .If every QPR fan are worried about his tackling then the managment have to see it and try and nip it in the bud.Does he tackle like that in training scrimage games or has he been a hard hitter all his career . Love the guy but he is pretty reckless to be honest

It looked like both players went for the ball at the same time to me from QPR+, and no need for the Ref to do anything other than make sure both players were ok as he did. Good decision.

It would be interesting to know if he had been sent off while playing for Reading and how many yellow cards he was given. The way he seems to play for us looks like he won't finish every game he starts, there's a red card waiting somewhere along the line. I really like him, love his attitude and it seems he really likes being here but we need him on the field not off it.

Quick look at league games only. Last season 11 yellow Before that 5 yellows 1 red Before that 6 yellows
Perhaps officials interpret ‘comings together’ differently the lower the league, however Mbengue stats don’t concern me. He does seem on the wild side though.
I think discipline can be coached - or rather coaching, such as decision making, positional awareness, fitness, touch etc, impacts discipline. I hope so.

Mbengue is on 4 yellows in 6 appearances already. We knew he was this kind of player when we signed him but that is rather excessive. Cook better be ready to play.

By the time he gets the 5th, JCS may be available..

He should have gone against Charlton for a second booking shouldn't he? If I'm Steve Cook, I'm expecting to fill in sooner rather than later
Is it me, or was Steve Cook with the coaches rather than the players today? Sure he was shadowing Kevin Betsy on the bench. Maybe doing his badges or something.
Noticed that too. Don’t think he warmed up once. Whereas the rest of them were out warming up most of the second half.

On the tackle, it was Ben Pearson, so the laws of the game allow it. Play on.

I believe JCS won't be ready until the new year, but I might be wrong. In any case, Mbengue's likely to get his 5th yellow in the next few weeks. I love the lad, but he is going to be a liability in this respect.

Haven’t seen the tackle on a replay but at the game it certainly looked like both players got to the ball at the same time . The still pic looks awful for sure . It’s probably just momentum but refs are sending people off for physics these days .
Talking of refs, how bad was that guy yesterday?
He micro managed that game to within an inch of its life ? He was in danger of ruining a good game of football .

Along with his assistant who seemed to think that you need to have 3 feet on the pitch to give a foul throw..

Looked like a yellow in real time, but a red on the replays. Would have been a sending off with VAR, think we got very very lucky if I’m honest.
That was my thought too, with VAR he would have gone. It obviously wasn't intentional but those kind of mistakes are usually punished with a red.
As for the Johansson incident, to me it looked like Burrell's trailing foot that made contact with the jaw of Johansson and if anything it was the momentum of Johansson sliding that took him into the foot of Burrell.
