It appears Birch isn’t a fan of the post match celebrations, does he have a point?

It's a weird one. I like it but sometimes think it's a bit over the top. If I saw the opposing team doing this with their fans at the end of the game, I would be thinking 'hang on lad, you haven't won the league or anything' at the same time though it is a way of building a connection with the fans again. Getting the fans behind the team and making Loftus Road a difficult place to play at again. I like when he puts a tackle in or runs up the line the other week and gestures to the crowd.

I think I read on that twitter (oh sorry X) feed, that someone said it's not the QPR way. Well, where has the QPR way got us over the last few years. Time for something a bit different, and he certainly is different

I recall Bircham scoring the winner at Brentford. I don't think he held back on the celebrations that day.

Maybe, he's just becoming an old fart. Like the rest of us.

Bigger game. Local rivals. Last minute winner towards the end of the season during a play off push.

So, bit different, but get your point.

Yeah that was Bircham in the original post!

I think he's way off the mark here but not surprising from a former player in a previous era. A lot seem to be snobby about current day football. I'm too young to remember but I imagine he would be getting similar stick from older players about dying his hair blue. Times change, we need to move on

Personally love that moment after a win where we get that moment with the players. We get that connection to the players that fans of PL clubs could only dream of, it's what makes supporting this club feel so real and them wins that much sweeter

Yeah sorry about that, hadn't had my morning coffee. I read it the other day and didn't read the caption at the start of the thread that highlighted it lol

Not just Brentford, I remember him sticking in the third against Grimsby and racing off to the bench to celebrate with Penrice.

Aa someone else said, if we're discussing over celebrating home wins then things must be going well at the moment.

Yeah I’m not sure about this one .

Some great points made on this thread .
The 5 year old upset at always losing , now whistling HHSL is a great post .
As someone else also pointed out , if we can’t enjoy winning football matches , after the slim pickings of the last few years at home especially , then we might as well lock the gates and all go do something else.
Reminds me of us thumping Derby last season and Mr Wilkins moaning that we weren’t very good .
If you can’t enjoy winning then why bother at all?
Birch has been living in and visiting some luxurious spots over the last 3 or 4 years . Maybe it’s slightly lost on him how bad we’ve actually been at LR in that time?

Sick of other teams celebrating at the school end as we trudge off to another weekend ruined .
As for Mbengue, he’s a lunatic , but I think he’s great personally .
I do agree that maybe JS should sit and talk to him and try and get him to calm down slightly, but even then, why constrict him? Just needs to think a little more and hopefully that will come . He is still relatively young .
He’ll get suspensions etc , which is not ideal, but he is playing well , helping us win games and pick up points and is the sort of character we have been crying out for in my opinion .
He loves playing for the Rangers and loves winning games for the Rangers .

Once again , there have been periods in the not so distant past where we would give anything for players to feel that way .

Bircham isn’t happy but the fans, after the Stoke win, are stoked, they are so so happy!

And the players celebrated with the fans, that will do for me

Poll: 2025/26 Ins & Outs - These are all welcomed but which one takes the cake?

I'm with Birch. It's football, not a panto.

In terms of doing it at away games I wonder if locally the police, stewards and safety officers would feel it's possibly a bit inflammatory and seek to curtail things by shepherding and encouraging players off the pitch? Dunno really, has always been custom and practice to wander over to fans and give 'em a clap irrespective of the result I suppose - this OTT extended love-in stuff is new territory though.

Exactly that. Nothing else needs to be said really, trying to strip away happiness from the fans is some of the most miserable shit I've seen

I'm not going to slag off Birch, who's a proper QPR man and gave us some good times when it was rough.

I also get the point that if you celebrate a 1-0 home win in the 2nd Division (old money) like it's the FA Cup Final, where do you go from there?

But, Jesus, we've had some tough times over the last few years. Just look at how the Coventry 1-7 affected people who've stuck by the club through thick and thin. I like this bunch of players and, sad though I was for Marti (and I'll always have a soft spot) I like this manager.

Give them this day if it's a turning point.

Would rather celebrate home wins like fa cup finals than have the arrogance to celebrate fa cup finals like they were just a home win *cough* Chelsea *cough*

Also, we've literally never been able to celebrate an FA cup finals win. We're not a big team with millions of fans but we are a passionate one. I don't see the harm.

Thing is especially sports here, they go so over so the top in winning and unbearably bordering on the infantile when losing or have lost.

To me that’s more the discussion.
