Carlisle tickets 17:17 - Sep 24 with 5534 viewssnuffler

Just looking to get some tickets for the match on Saturday and found that there are only standing tickets available in the open end. Being of a certain age I don’t like to stand for over a couple of hours, particularly in a terrace without cover. I think it’s not very good so I won’t be going

That's the only area for away fans at Brunton Park this season.

It might be worth contacting them to let them know the issues you have.

This issue has already been raised with the CEO at Carlisle by other Dale fans. Somewhat reluctantly (it seems) there will be 'a few' seats made available on a first come first served basis. They will be positioned in the away end. No guarantee of getting one, it depends on demand. Once they are taken, that's it.

For those driving up to Carlisle on Saturday allow some extra time for the multiple sets of roadworks on the M6 between Preston and Carlisle.

And stick to the speed limits through them especially the 40 in the Penrith works those cameras have issued 10000 speeding tickets over the last few months.

As an old-timer thinking of going to Carlisle, my answer to the CEO's offer is a "No, thank you!!" I won't be travelling that distance to stand (or sit) in an uncovered stand for more than 2 hours.

Exactly, the only way to get the message across to the Carlisle CEO's of this World (standing in an uncover terrace for 2 hours +) is to hit them were it hurts most, in the pocket, Carlisle will make a hansom sum of money from the Dale attendance if everyone took your lead Nafelad ( I'm not saying that Daley's shouldn't attend, I'm simply making a point) then the Carlisle top brass would soon get the message and provide seats with cover !

I find it strange, in previous seasons Carlisle offered seats as the only option in the cantilever stand with no option to stand behind the goal. I wonder why it’s changed?

To be fair, they are not the only club to offer standing room only for away fans - wasn't Truro the same? If they don't think the away fans count anymore (hello regulator) then the least they can be is transparent and make it very very clear that this is standing terrace only and is uncovered. Clubs generally aren't clear on this which is unfair on those that can't stand.

Will be interesting to see whether their rich new owners plan to invest in the facilities for the future. I suspect they can't justify when the away gates in National league are often sub 100.

The difference between Carlisle and Truro is that the former have the facilities and capacity to offer more to away fans than they have chosen to do.

Exactly. Brunton Park has a capacity of 18202, and their average gate this season is 7359. There's plenty of space, so not being able to "allocate an area capable of hosting up to 1,750 fans" is just tosh. They're purely out to make the experience for away fans an uncomfortable one.
