RND 08:03 - Oct 2 with 2038 viewsstevec

I’m still not sure of his actual name, which I think he would probably like, but in a night of unwatchable dross, the only thing keeping me awake was this fellas full on proper left back performance.

Up and down the pitch, right place right time, all done without any razzmatazz.

Welcome to our club.

Agree. He’s excellent. Defensively a huge step up on Paal.

He's improving match by match. I feared he'd be slow like Morgan Fox as the Sheff U fans complained that he'd lost all his pace after his many injuries, But he's got a definite acceleration when he has to. Shows what happens when you give someone a run of matches in the right position (Sheff U were playing him as a CB).

Hopefully some encouragement for JCS.

Yep, my MOTM again.
I also thought Cook and Mbegue played well, and that Dunne had his best game so far this season, but RND the pick again.

He has started his QPR career in decent fashion. Gets forward well experienced LB.

He’s like a terrier down that flank. Loves a tussle, tidy enough on the ball and can put a decent cross in. Also sometimes the best attacking play a FB can make is a simple overlap run to create space. But you’ve got to know when to do it, and then actually do it, knowing you wont always receive the ball and be okay with that. Top pro.

Indeed. Keep playing like he did last night and Sheff Utd may well want him back in January.

They've got a very good young LB apparently hence playing RND at CB.

You seem weirdly obsessed with who plays at left back this season and very upset that Esquerdinha is not starting every game.
It must vex you that RND has started so well for us (which has coincided with our upturn in results).
I’m sure your lad will get some minutes soon enough but everyone who watches QPR would agree RND is starting every game on merit.

Yes, thought he was very good last night. Gets up and down like Bardsley (though needs to improve his crossing) and is very aggressive. A totally different player to what I was expecting given the online discourse...

Or, radical thought, a lot of fans trust a coach with a lot of experience developing youth players to decide on his pathway rather than fans who think dogmatically playing 19 year olds no matter what is the answer?

As others have said this is a weird obsession, especially when he’s doing the same thing with Morgan and Kolli without any memes getting created.

He also gets back very rapidly when he needs to - he put the afterburners on yesterday a couple of times to get back into position and get his block in.

Research & Development is easier to remember and spell than Rhys Norrington-Davies. Can never remember whether the various Davies/Davis have the pesky ‘e’.

Anyway good player. Being in NL you get half a game each time to see the left-back more than anyone else and I think he’s a major upgrade on Paal defensively. A solid bloke. I like a full-back you’d trust to kick his gran to stop a goal.

Yes been a very good loan... and I must be old school, but the barney with Rowett was 1st class.. being in SA Stand hard to see what exactly happened, but looked like he was trying to get the ball back.. Rowett/Oxford were p!ss balling about, so decided to hurry things along... as you do

I am with you, I really wanted Esquerdinha to be our left back this season but in the couple of times I've seen him he has been a bit erratic. RND is obviously a step up, defensively anyway. Hopefully Esquerdinha gets some more time, it's a shame we're not very good at cup competitions.

You seem weirdly angry with everything all the time but we all keep our mouths shut about it.

I've no beef with RND, he's been great, but the amount of minutes you think Esquerdinha will get shrinks every time he comes up.

Yes he's RND is playing on merit but i'm sorry, in a season we'll likely finish between 7th and 21st it's sucking minutes from what could be a important asset one day.

Quite.

There is always going to be short term fix though. Sometimes you just need to bite the bullet, accept the eratic form temporarily, and reap the rewards when they come of a valuable teenage asset with 30-40 games under their belt, which is a rarity.

Also applies to Kolli by the way, who I understand was told by a senior staffer a few months ago to ‘fck off’ because we’ve brought Saito now.

The great form of RND (or Saito) isn’t in dispute for me by the way.

His first few games he was reluctant to bomb forward, which was understandable. Do your main job first, defend. But the last 2/3 games he has got forward a lot more.
Hopefully he can keep his form up and he was probably our best all round player with Mbengue.

Smells like a trout farm in here

He does get up and down but I was getting a little frustrated at how many times he tried to push and run when he didn't have the pace to beat the opposition. In addition, he almost cost us the game with an untimely slip. Still, a reasonably solid player who is doing a good enough job filling in a problem position. I'm hoping that in time Esquerdinha will be better.

Yeah you really make me angry Barry 🤣🤣🤣
And you don’t speak for anyone but yourself.

Following your flawed argument we should be playing all the youngsters all the time then but you don’t seem to be as obsessed with Morgan/Kolli/Bennie/Pearman etc.

Yes, I also thought that. What was odd was that in the first half, their winger tried to take him on from quite far out and RND completely took him for pace. Might be a case of he hasn’t got the pace from a standing start, or possibly not (yet) confident enough to really go for it

Esquerdinha will never be 6ft tall though and we desperately need some height in the team 😂😂😂

Strong and stable my arse.
