Starter or sub..........for the next game against Millwall on the 18th October.

If he is a starter who is he a starter for???

Tough call for the manager and his team.

I was reading the match fred and was amazed at how little Cook was mentioned

2 games in 3 days... and looked really good, possibly the best defender in both games

Today 2 of the normal back 4 were out, a 20 year old kid playing left back, and Cook was superb. He Marshalled that defence superbly

I have no hesitation and play him, especially if NRD is not fit. For I would have to drop Morrisson to the bench

Great question.
A really tough call.

We played a very high line at times today. We haven't always done that with Cook in the team and/or with Nardi in goal. It really helped us as we won the ball back quickly.

That hopefully means that he's not just over his injury but that they trust him to play that far North and still get back in time on the break. That's really encouraging.

Cook also has passing. At times last year his long passes (sorry - diags (TM)) out to the right wing were really good. How many of our centre-backs have forward passing?

If he's fast enough and fit enough for us to play the high line when we want to, he's the best centre-back we have imho - positioning, reading, tackling, heading, organising.

Clarke-Salter is more talented. But Cook is better.

I think he's clearly forced his way back in. Been top drawer these last 2 starts. Would leave him in all season if form and fitness allow.

I've been impressed with Cook the last 2 games.

I think he deserves his spot.

Played left side which isn't his favoured spot, They've worked out to leave Morrison in there.

He's was our best player against Oxford and was solid today.

Nice problem to have

Really good today. Doesn’t mess about.
Thought it was interesting my Oxford mate on Weds said he thought Cook was our best player by far.

I think Cook deserves to play & that it looked a better combination with Morrison, but the decision might depend on whether it is felt that we need pace (Mbengue) or aerial (Morrison).

I wouldn't be too worried whichever two of the trio is selected.

If he was 'poor' in those matches it would be very easy but he wasn't poor.......I am waiting for Lassel thoughts because I will vote the opposite for obvious reasons

He’s been an excellent signing for us: whereas you mostly read negative stuff from previous clubs’ supporters it was telling how highly rated he was from Bournemouth and Forest.

Some foolish comments recently that his legs had gone and he was finished: I think not.

Also, might have a calming influence on Mbengue?

So good to have the Steve Cook we all know back. Wouldn't mind seeing him with Mbengue. His pace and Cooks leadership. Might actually help Mbengue be less nuts too lol

Tough on Morrison, but I think Mbengue should start every game until he he gets to the 10 inevitable Yellows, but whoever starts with him Cook or Morrison.

I would go with Cook/Mbengue and look to give Morrison game time where possible.

My view is Cook is still the best centre half defensively. Starts for me. His partner should depend on the oppo.

For Millwall, I’d play Morrison alongside for a side like Ipswich or S’oton, I’d play Mbengue.

I agree with everything you said, except dropping Morrison, he is unbelievably good

It’s Mbengue who needs to force his way back in imo

Don't think you can change a winning team IMO, if everyone is fit.

Smells like a trout farm in here

Cook got an 8 from me yesterday, marginally our best player I thought. Played very well and looked like he organised us defensively. Expect he is solid support for Esquerdinha.

Agree with all that Brian, perhaps bar JCS being more talented than Cook. Cook's been a top-notch defender for many years and JCS can only dream of that, so Cook has talent in abundance.

I think it was Ray who said once you hit a certain age in football every time you get injured or you make a mistake the dreaded "legs are gone" comments come out.

So pleased for Cookie, a class act for us for years and has forced himself back in even after that awfully shoddy release the club put out over his contract renewal. Top pro, him and Liam every day of the week ahead of Mbengue.

Great win yesterday, so impressive all round the work done since Cov.

He's always been a stand out apart from the period where he was clearly still struggling with that horrible foot injury.
