| Team and bench for Millwall - thoughts 17:31 - Oct 16 with 5241 views | numptydumpty | My predicted team and bench for Millwall : Nardi RND Cook Mbuengue Dunne Saito Madsen Varane Vale Burrell Kone Subs Hamer, Morrison, JCS, Field Hayden, Smyth, Chair, Poku, Frey Kolli, Dembele and Morgan demoted from the squad for this one for me with possibly Esquerdinha missing out too - although given RND coming back from injury, Esquerdinha could be on bench instead of either of Morrison or JCS. Bench is brutal in relation to recent seasons !! Ingram, Drewe, Kakay, Hamaleinen, Dixon-Bonner, Dozzell, Thomas, Lloyd, Kelman. Amongst many many others in recent years of benches !!! Otherwise agree, though with Saito it may depend on his recovery from international duty (long flight etc). | | | |

On paper, would be a good game between bench and first team... Yes agree, could well be Esquerdinha in for RND.

Good points both Would be Smyth for me instead of Saito, in that case..

I also agree with starting eleven. optimum number of players to begin a football match with.
| Team and bench for Millwall - thoughts on 18:55 - Oct 16 with 3660 views | BrianMcCarthy | I feel that I'm in the minority at the moment in that I'm not a fan of 442, 4411 or any formation that leaves us with only two in central midfield. Instinctively, I worry when we lose the numbers game in central midfield, or when we lose control of the football (Nick). I can't help it. It doesn't strike me as a long-term plan. The current formation gives us two holding midfielders so the back four is far more protected than it was under the club's game model, and that's a huge positive. But it does mean that we can't press high up and recover the ball quickly, it does mean that we have to sit deep and wait for periods. That lack of control, that lack of proactivity concerns me. I don't like us being reliant on the actions of the oppo. I know teams have succeeded being that reactive - Leicester for one, even arch-Cruyffian Van Gaal at AZ Alkmaar - but, again, I can't help but worry. Having said all of that, six unbeaten probably means we go with 442 as near as unchanged as possible, I suppose. So, very close to your First XI, Numpty, I would guess? | |

Same for Burrell who yesterday, was still in Jamaica. Depends when he and Saito joined up again with squad. Hopefully both start, as the didn't get off the bench this week. I would start Mbengue every game he is available and I fully expect him to pick up a few more suspensions.

No - just debating the possible team / squad. Not sure if that should be on the matchday thread, if so i am a donut with no brain perhaps !!!

| Team and bench for Millwall - thoughts on 20:46 - Oct 16 with 3306 views | JamesB1979 | JCS has to have a match or 2 for development squad before he’s considered for the bench. Not sure I’d be putting both Chair and Poku on bench after their injuries either. If they’re on bench, got to assume they will come on. | | | |
| Team and bench for Millwall - thoughts on 06:27 - Oct 17 with 2959 views | Wilkinswatercarrier | If Poku, Chair and JCS are back on the bench then that's Field, Cook and Dembele dropped for me. I could see Burrell moving to the bench with Chair starting next to Kone. I think teams coming to Loftus Road will sit deep to deny space behind, like Oxford, so we'll need a little craft to unlock teams. | |

Nump I think you're right to call out just how strong this bench looks / could look. By contrast, in Marti's first game in charge, a 1-1 draw at Rotherham less that 2 years ago, out bench was: Archer, Kakay, Larkeche, Drewe, Duke-McKenna, Richards, Adomah, Armstrong, Kelman. As you say, this weekend the bench COULD be: Hamer, Cook, Clarke-Salter, Field, Hayden, Smyth, Chair, Poku, Frey. With Dembele, Kolli, Morgan, Esquerdinha, Larkeche not even named. Whichever way you look at it, that's an extraordinary turnaround in two years and shows the added depth and quality we have now. [Post edited 17 Oct 10:29]

Convention these days seems to be: Coming back from injury - on bench. Coming back from long international flight - on bench at best. I suspect JS may think outside this box but I am sure there are underlying performance stats that support the convention.

Cook should be dropped, not Morrison. Mbengue straight back in. Why would Varane not start? He hasn't been on international duty.

| Team and bench for Millwall - thoughts on 11:37 - Oct 17 with 2408 views | daveB | I'd change the wingers from the last game, lots of travelling for Saito this week so start Smyth and Vale. Up front I'd go Rayan Kolli with Kone, save Burrell for the 2 away games this week Rest of the team the same unless Norrington Davis is fit to play | | | |

Cook has done very well last couple of games so I would be shocked if he is omitted from the starting line up - his experience could go a long way in a game like Millwall. Morrison has been OK, no more. We need Mbengue because of his physically. Saying that I would not be too objectional if Morrison does play but my choice is Mbengue for the reasons I have stated. Varane has not been doing well especially but he is the best we got for the DM that he and Madsen play. It isn't, just, about International duty.
| Team and bench for Millwall - thoughts on 12:41 - Oct 17 with 2226 views | DavieQPR | Only Larkeche and Walsh are unavailable. Think he will rest Saito and Burrell. Chair, JCS and Poku will more than likely get some time off the subs bench. | | | |
| Team and bench for Millwall - thoughts on 15:24 - Oct 17 with 1972 views | kensalriser | I'm still not entirely convinced we're really playing 4-4-2, I suspect it's more of a 4-2-3-1. | |

No Numpty, no offence intended. I always keep and eye on oppenents message boards. And the one thing I've noticed is how many have just one thread for pregame/game/and afterthoughts. All in one thread. Here on LFW, theres often several pre match threads similar in subject, and so so many aftergame threads. Sometimes bordering on the ridiculous. Im now thinking this has nothing to do with your post at all lol, so should have started my own. Whatever. I just think it would be better to have all the games opinions in one thread like other MBs do, and that some don't just start a new thread because they want their opinion to be highlighted.

I just think it clutters a mb that already covers every subject under the sun as well as football.

Some message boards are very sparsely populated and posters dont say that much and there's only a few of them. Probably shows that a lot of people here, are invested in the club etc.... I can understand your point but would think if you felt strongly about it, highlight to Admin, which I am not sure if on here, that's just Clive. Would take a lot of rejigging of threads etc into one and may create a lot of extra work, which most people today are so ridiculously busy now. It would be just another thing. I know some message boards have all posts grouped regarding matches, players, miscellaneous, owners, and random threads also. Are you volunteering for the role, CheesyDane ??
