QPR convert 3.7 million worth of loans into shares 16:38 - Oct 23 with 3132 viewsMarkofthegrove

QPR convert £3.7m of loans into 370 million fresh shares, taking the total number of shares in issue to over 15 billion.

As per Keiran Maguire.

I think this is the lowest transfer of debt to shares in a while, would suggests our financial footing has improved (but don't quote me on that).

Wow - Ruben still covering the cost of running the club. It’s an incredible commitment when you see how easily it can fall to pieces like Sheffield Wednesday. Also, he shows no signs of wanting to sell. What an incredible owner- we’re very fortunate.

Whatever we think of the owners, it’d be nice if we could make the leap just to give them a break from perpetually dipping their hands in their pockets, even if only for one season.

Their tenure hasn’t exactly been a raging success, to put it mildly, but for better or worse they’re still here.

Better the devil you know and all that and there are definitely far worse owners.

The debt was mainly their own huge mistakes and they have made many. But they've stayed the course.

In reality, the cost of running QPR for Reuben is loose change.

Westport revenues are through the roof and now they're expanding their Malaysian ports.

I whole heartedly agree. They have made mistakes - but they've also been utterly honourable and dignified. Overall, I say we are very very lucky. Can you imagine writing off £12 million a year only to get slated? I can't.

I know a few people who know Ruben and his family and by all accounts they are really lovely decent people.

Simple fact, we have a much better team than our revenue justifies. We should really have Oxford's squad. I'm very glad we don't.

I read an interview with him somewhere and he said that he couldn’t walk away from QPR as his three children are such big fans that they would never forgive him! Good enough for me. For all the mistakes that have been made he has held the club together and probably the best owner since Jim Gregory.

In my past professional life I dealt with many investors from the AP region. All of them were extremely honourable individuals in the way they ran their affairs-always paying and covering for mistakes.
Since his Father passed away he has grown his interests in the region and stuck with us. It’s not surprising and just reflects his commitment to paying for past mistakes and continuing to invest long-term.
It would be great to hear from him personally. Clive - have you considered getting time with him?

Yeah I know that, but is that amount (of shares) just because of the variety of holders?

I know nothing about shareholdings but that seems a lot.

Number looks daunting. But theres no limit to how many they can issue and how much debt they can convert. So nothing to worry about.

QPR bonds mature next year. Club will have to hand back several £million to investors. They could issue another bond and ask current investors to roll their money into the new bond but the club must be prepared and budget on folks wanting their dosh back.

i am prepared to start a gofundme page with the sole purpose of raising £500 million to be in situ, so when we go up this season, we can rollercoaster our way to Champions League and Premiership Title holders glory.

My own finances can help to the tune of £2.50. Any other millionaires on here with cash burning a hole in their pockets....

About 2 years ago I was in the Sports Direct in Westfield with one of my kids. I happened to see Reuben there with his son. Not sure how many he has. Anyway, they were buying football boots and basically his boy wanted from what I could see a very expensive pair. Anyway, the long and the short was Reuben basically saying to his son the cost was ridiculous and he should choose something more sensible and cheaper. I was very impressed by the way he handled that situation because knowing a lot of parents who are super wealthy they would have gone down the easy route of simply buying what their son wanted. It was a really good lesson in life for the boy. Reuben’s definitely a very good man and very sensible. Just shows that despite the fabulous wealth his family have he can bring them up to be decent human beings. We have a family friend whose kid is in the same school and year as one of his kids. I won’t say the name but his boy is doing a great job at converting lots of others to QPR! The family are well and truly one of us.

Nice backdrop family story Hammersmith. A story that proves why our owners would never have us in a Sheffield Wednesday pickle.

Less, I would say.

That share conversion values the club at £160 million, which very neatly is exactly the same value as 16 billion sheets of the cheapest bog roll costing a tenth of a penny per sheet.

But I think you could buy QPR for a good deal less than that.

Whilst our uncle Tony made many financial howlers the current owners all seem to have our back financially and for that I am truly grateful.

As in a previous post I would love Clive to have some time with Ruben and put it out in a podcast.

Agreed.

just s thought, but wouldn't it be possible for Westport to sponsor the club short and stadium for a reasonable amount of money over a 10 year deal rather than Copybet or some other gambling outfit for a pittance?

Good on Rueben and his children. Let's hope their loyalty lasts for many year to come. Hopefully the club's on pitch fortunes will continue to improve and QPR is back in the Premiership for a lengthy spell.
