Every time that ball goes in the box my heart is in my mouth, Nardi appears welded to his goal line.
Opposition have clearly done their homework on him and he is costing us points big time.
I know some will say defensively we should be better, but it must be a nightmare defending in front of him. I mean not claiming a ball in your own 6 yard box!

The keeper position is our weakest spot. Opposition teams know it. Our defence knows it too. I don't believe Nardi is able to improve this glaring problem in his game.
I don't know what Hamer would be like for us but he'd only be a patch up job. Will Walsh be tried again once he's recovered from his op? I'm not sure. Salamon doesn't seem to be in the picture. A recall for Cooper in January could be on or perhaps even a new keeper. |  | | |

I tend to agree with the staying on your line thing. When he does try to come for it, it doesn’t always work(Stoke at home nearly gifting them a late equaliser) so I wonder if it’s partly confidence.
That said he’s still a good shot stopper…made a really good save right at the end yesterday in front of us that was somehow given as a goalkick by the chode of a referee. |  | | |

easy to blame the keeper but if the defenders win the first header and one of them bothers to mark Morris then they don't score
I haven't seen it back but at the time I thought the ball was going away from the keeper and if he had gone for it they'd have scored anyway |  | | |

A good keeper watches the ball and deals with it irrespective of who is around him. Take everybody out but deal with the ball.
How many times have we said the same thing?
i guess a keeper who both commands his area and is a good shot stopper is a rare and expensive commodity in The Championship. Nourry and co will be aware of Nardi's limitations and will deal with it. |  | | |

but we've seen with Nardi he is not good at this so his defenders know this and need to deal with the first header and the tap in. When Nardi has come running out for these he usually makes a mess of it | | | |

I would suggest that Nardi should be dealing with a 'lob' into his 6 yard box regardless of his goalkeeping abilities.......Kone headed the ball out from the corner and shut the player down who 'lobbed' it into the 6 yard box, I say 'lobbed' because there is very little pace on the ball and it was high in the air.
I have also read a post basically saying he made a good save at Swansea.....that is another game, that is what he earns 'lots of dosh' to do and that is what I expect him to do. | | | |

Nardi’s got a known flaw in his game (if you’re playing for QPR there’s something wrong with you etc etc) that has been picked up on by the rest of the division since the first round of fixtures last season. He’s in poor form atm and cost us a goal yesterday and another at Sheff Wed (I’m still not having him as responsible for that Millwall one though).
A new more commanding goalkeeper will improve the team, and I’m sure they’ll do that if not in January then next summer. They’ve actually been pretty good of late at pinpointing weaknesses in the team and signing good solutions.
One thing that was said several times at the fans forum was all of this support staff is there “to put people in the best position possible to succeed”. Is bringing your first choice keeper back for pre season and telling him he’s being demoted for the youth team keeper, not wanted any more, free to find another club, then end up relying on him for 40 matches doing that? He’s lost a lot of confidence versus this time last year, which you probably would too. Not the first time we’ve done it either - same thing happened with Paal last year and his form dropped as well. |  | | |

Dealing or attempting to deal with it as a bare minimum! Get tight on the attacker so any shot bounces off you.
Nardi either goes backwards or stays put giving the attacker a free shot on goal.

Being a good shot stopper is a basic requirement for a Championship keeper. I dare say all keepers in the league are good shot stoppers. It's how they do the other stuff - commanding their area, collecting high balls, competent with the ball at their feet, one on ones etc - that really determines how good they are. | | | |

true but for me if whoever was marking Morris had stayed with him that goal is a lot harder for them to score, it was pretty poor defending from everyone for the goal, Nardi is making mistakes but seems to be an easy scapegoat at the moment | | | |

Well, Gus often points out that Nardi on shot stopping last season was 20th of 25 keepers who played 10 or more games, and the LFW podcast brought up the same point, while also saying that his figures are better so far this season. That all tallies with they eye test as well, I think.
It's a long time until the January window, we can only hope that his form picks up. |  |

All of our players had moved forward after Kone's header for the offside, which is the right thing to do. We were slow to react when the ball came back in.

All seems a bit harsh. Seems to be a fashion now for bombing balls into the box so goalies are under siege generally. Suggesting opposition are targeting our weak keeper is inaccurate.. they are targeting the box.
Ideally Nardi would have came out and cleared house yesterday and prevented the goal but I don't think staying on his line was an atrocious decision on his part and where are the CBs for this ball wafted high in the air over the top?
In front of Nardi we had Mbengue and Dunne having nightmare games and sod all cover from Midfield - our box was pretty much under constant threat. BUT, despite this Rams got one solitary goal. Suggests there was some tidy work by Nardi amongst the general havoc.
Look, we probably should get a big strong keeper in during next window but I'd want a .midfield destroyer and two right backs and probably a robust centreback before we sign a GK. | | | |

so when he doesn't do that we all just stop and point fingers at the keeper? The defenders were allowed to continue marking Morris and had a chance to win the header across goal as well
