Half decent tv 06:36 - Apr 29 with 1009974 views | LadbrokeR | I watched the last episode of line of duty and thought that was good. Undercover has finally grabbed by attention. I quite like some of the investigative programmes Stacey Dooley does. However I can't wait for the next series of people just do nothing.

Oooh possibly the sappiest thing I've seen on TV - I left the wife to it. Wasn't for me!

Half decent tv on 11:46 - Aug 22 by Hoopstar | I am really hoping the King & Conqueror lives up to the incredible story of 1066. Think all episodes come out on Sunday. Huge nerd for historical drama, believe they've taken a few liberties with the story but what a story it is. Not sure there has ever been a large scale tv telling of it before? |
I'm 4 episodes in and, although I'm entertained, I'm increasingly annoyed with the inaccuracies in the King & Conqueror. And they're big inaccuracies. For example, in episode 4 King Edward beats his mother, Emma of Normandy, to death with his crown and William Duke of Normandy kills Henry 1st of France in a duel. Neither of these things happened nor are close to the truth. If there's one historical story that does not need enhancing, it's this story. It already has all the intrigue and excitement needed.

It was the same with the Napolean film. You have to be pretty arrogant to think you can, or need to, improve on these stories. You should also be mindful that some will take what you put on the screen as real.

Stick with it and try not to get too caught up on the accuracy as hardly any of true facts were fully documented at the time. No details of how Queen Emma or King Henry of France actually died are known. I actually did a lot of wiki searches afterwards, it's pretty accurate in places and a fascinating time in our history.

Thanks Chris. I am sticking with it as it's pretty entertaining. There is of course a lot of space for interpreting what records we have of that time. However, I still feel that on a number of occasions the series has gone well beyond interpretation and into pure invention. A number of reviewers of the series I've read share a similar sentiment. A real concern will be that people will think events such as Edward the Confessor beating his mother Emma to death with his crown actually took place when it's just a made up scene. 1066 and all that is an amazing story without the need for much embellishment.

Half decent tv on 21:19 - Mar 1 by GaryT | I think that was me, I mentioned it in the Film 2025 thread as Demi Moore's name came up. A thumbs up to whoever mentioned American Primeval and Paradise and if you are looking for something relatively light hearted, have a look at Lessons in Chemistry. Now for episode 2 (series 2) of The White Lotus. [Post edited 3 Mar 11:54]

Just started watching American Primeval (Netflix): absolutely brutal depiction of the ‘Wild West’. Little House on The Prairie it’s not! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Very good Mixed Tape — liked this mainly for the late 80’s stuff. Nice watch in a “pleasant” way Unforgivable — pretty heavy drama film. Knocked that Adolescence into a cocked hat
| Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal |

Half decent tv on 20:38 - Sep 3 with 3976 views | MrSheen | I was much too young to watch it on the BBC, but someone pointed me to Kenneth Clark’s “Civilisation” on YouTube and I’m really enjoying it despite the moronc ads every 12 minutes. No one’s going to invite a plummy voiced art historian to make a big budget 10 hour personal essay on Western culture these days, but listening to a finely constructed and absorbing lecture beautifully illustrated with museum pieces and location filming is a real treat.

Ah yes, been on my watch list that one. In the years before the dumbing down of TV (and everything else) began...

It does follow on from what happened at the end of New Blood but you can probably watch a video on youtube to tell you what happened in that It's mostly a new story, Uma Thurman and Peter Dinklage are really good in it

Priscilla Presleys daughter now deceased’ plays a writer who grew up Victoria island. Rena spend a while living in local authority care a situation that she engineered through lying about her dad in order to gain the approval of her peers.
