I watched the last episode of line of duty and thought that was good. Undercover has finally grabbed by attention. I quite like some of the investigative programmes Stacey Dooley does. However I can't wait for the next series of people just do nothing.

I finally got round to watching the BBC crime series, "Annika". It's well observed and explores people's fears and insecurities, as well as serving up some action.

Watched the first two episodes of this tonight. Agree with everything you said. Really love the wit as well.

Acting superb, too, especially the always-excellent Nicola Walker.

I'm not too sure about it (Alien Earth) after the first episode.

It looked wrong. Very clean, colourful and fake. The alien on the ship was the worst looking one from the whole franchise. And all that stuff with the synth kids felt like a lot of Westworld (the TV show) poncery.

And it doesn't make a whole lot of sense in the timeline as it's set two years before Alien.

But hopefully the second episode will be a bit better.

Yeah, been looking forward to this, only watched the first episode but it doesn't work for me at all.

Erik Kain makes the point that part of the power of the original Alien film was the sense that it was the first contact between humans and the xenomorph. so having the alien turn up on earth two years before that film takes place feels wrong. And yeah all the Wendy and the lost boys stuff just doesn't work for me, its the wrong tone

The drama about Amanda Knox on DIsney is quite good, watched the 1st one last night.

With my ITV hat on I fought the Law starts next Sunday (31st) and is very good, Sheridan Smith is in it, all about Ann Ming and her fight for justice against her daughters killer
Is heartbreaking and up with the post office drama for anger and frustration towards those in power. Police, lawyers and judges do not come out of it well

If, like me, you are interested in archaeology, you simply must watch this.

I had never heard of these ancient mega structures in the deserts of the Middle East - d'oh - but there are over 6000 of them. Prepare to be hugely impressed when you learn what their purpose was .

In what way is it good?

Presumably aimed at an American market and proclaiming her innocence

Should be behind bars IMO

Yeah, but once you've seen one ancient mega-structure, you've seen them all.

No worries, sir, glad you like it . The new series has been excellent so far, in my humble opinion.

I am really hoping the King & Conqueror lives up to the incredible story of 1066. Think all episodes come out on Sunday. Huge nerd for historical drama, believe they've taken a few liberties with the story but what a story it is.

Not sure there has ever been a large scale tv telling of it before?

I am watching This is Us at the moment. For some reason I watched half of it several years ago but didn't finish it. I am really enjoying it and the way it cuts back and forth was probably quite new at the time. It is quite common now I know.

On the strength of much hype and a couple of enthusiastic reviews, I watched Ep1 of The Hostage, which dropped on Netflix this week. Disappointed. Wildly implausible setup, erratic plot shifts, Suranne Jones doing her strong-but-anguished-woman acting. Seen enough.

I call this the 'Silliness Quotient'. It's how far you can get into a Netflix series before realising how silly it is.

Loved the first series. Even better that a lot of the cast of Spiral and Braquo were in it!

The Assassin on Prime has started really well with Keeley Hawes.

Watched this and thought it was ok but I found the need to drop the F word every 4 or 5 lines annoying and unnecessary.

Much preferred Butterfly also on Prime.

Thank you. Layed up with a bad knee injury. This sounds up my street. Agree about Annika. Watched two films recently. Flight risk which was silly but entertaining and the order with jude law about white supremacists in the 1980's. Based on truth. Didn't really grab me but stayed till the end. Quite topical considering the polarised world we now live in.

The Devo documentary on Netflix is fascinating and highly entertaining. I loved the first album, and a bootleg that an uncle improbably got hold of for me, but I drifted away from their later tinny synth sound and didn’t realise what a big misunderstood deal they got to be in the States later. Some brilliant low-tech visuals, Adam Curtis owes them a fortune!
