I wonder if the club has simply had enough and frozen Richards out? He was excluded from the squad in January and is now nowhere to be seen. If there are clubs interested in taking him - more fool them - he must surely be fit enough to play.

EDIT: Funnily enough I just spotted this article which suggests Cifuentes has form when it comes to excluding a player. http://sportwitness.co.uk/player-insists-doesnt-want-drama-clearly-problems-qpr-

Thanks for posting that, dmm.

Poor journalism by the two websites involved. It amounts to a free hit. To suggest that Cifuentes is not "an honest person" could mean anything, could mean something horrible, and for them to throw it out there without explanation, response, corroboration or confirmation is just poor journalism.

You're right to point out that the situation has at least one question mark.

I'm worried that we on here often risk the same error when we chat about Richards?
After all, do any of us know anything about his circumstances, his life, his physical wellbeing, his mental health?

I'm not sure about you lot but I did some dreadful things when I was a young fella.
There were reasons, but no excuses. In my case.
I know nothing about Richards. Nothing.
But if I'm going to ask for due process for Cifuentes, I should ask for the same for Richards.

I mean, we've already seen Cifuentes be pretty ruthless with players who aren't Richards. Kakay post Millwall for instance. Dozzell. So that article doesn't surprise at all, does it?

Everybody who's ever managed any group of people in any walk or life or career, but particularly professional sports, you'll find people who liked them and people who didn't, people with bad things to say about them and people with good.

At the moment Cifuentes is seen as basically a saint at QPR. I'm sure he's not. A few defeats on the spin next season will soon water down the rhetoric. There's already posters on here saying he got lucky last season, stumbled across solutions that were obvious long before he got to them. We love to build things up to knock them down in UK football culture. Cifuentes will have failings, maybe we'll realise that soon, or later.

With Richards the thing for me is we've had four managers in double quick time. They're across the whole spectrum of styles of management, styles of play, and personality. The first one was the guy who actually signed him. And none of them have played him. In fact, all of them have quickly surmised they don't even want the guy around. And all of those managers have, at one stage or for the whole duration of their reign, been absolutely desperate for any help they could get. And none of them - Beale, Critchley, Ainsworth, Cifuentes - picked this guy.

If it looks like a duck and it quacks like a duck...

Weeks of Tyson Fury calling him a big dosser might get the message across.

If we are going to try and sell him photos like this just wont do!

Please can the publicity department invest in some picture editing software and relocate the ball to the end of his foot (I've donbe my best but sorry, don't know how to display picture!)

Just edit together footage of his cameo in that Huddersfield match where he looked amazing in the few minutes he was on the pitch, then use deep fake technology to make it look like it's from more than one match.

Taylor Richards has gone to Cambridge United for whole of 24/25 season.
Don't know who's responsible for that deal but your gold medal is on Nourry's desk.

If they're paying anything towards his wages, it'll be a bonus. However, I suspect QPR are glad to just get him out the building, and if he somehow does anything up there, it'll be a bonus.

The story comes with exstensive quotes from a player under Cifeuentes, so it's hardly 'uncorroborated'.

Personally, when a football coach (or anyone) like Warnock and Cifuentes start reminding you how 'honest' they are, I usually make a mental note that means they're not.

Christ I forgot he could be back stinking the place up next season.

Obviously no idea on the terms of his loan deal but I’d be even gutted if I was a Cambridge fan and I heard a sizeable chunk of his sizeable salary was being picked up by them. That would’ve been money they could’ve used for honest, hard working, committed player(s).
So he’s probably a big contributor to their relegation.

If a fantastic Manager can be put on gardening leave for doing what goes on in the game all the time then surely to God we can find some grounds to sack this to$$er and watch him tumble out of football.

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

I think their contracts are watertight otherwise there’s a number of players we’d have sacked off. I can’t see anyone coming in for him - although a few clubs took on JET and Ravel Morrison after us so you never know. But if not as seems probable, we’re surely better off just releasing him. No point in him stinking out the dressing room.

Has to be paid off. We simply can't afford to have a non playing player eat up wages.

Never knowingly right.

People had heard of JET and Ravel, they had Wenger and Fergie respectively talking about them as potentially great players who just needed to pull their finger out.

It's probably why we took a punt on them.

Richards has one good season on loan at Doncaster on his CV.

Don’t pay him off its what he wants - Make him come into training every day to do the walk of shame and then train on his own or with the kids.

What a complete waste of space.

Surely you’d pay them off not to save money but to just no longer have them around?

Usually its a lump sum which is less than the wages but you get it all at once and you can also go and get another job to make up the difference (or more).

Doubt Richards will get another job in football.now though.

Why stop now, just when I'm hating it

Maddening!

Without going back down all the well observed comments from when he first rocked up here; mental issues etc.

I just find it absolutely frustrating and many other adjectives, this guy even going off Youtube videos has made it to the ranks as a professional sportsman yet is treating it with such disdain. His appearance record for a now relegated Cambridge are embarrassing. Like others mentioned such as JET, Ravel, Jeanne and many more he might end up regretting his life choices.

To get to this level of elite sports and get past all the relative age groups is some bonkers stat like 0.05% and then p$$s it all away. As a limited player myself I would have loved for half the opportunities that he's had as would those in our youth teams about to be released as not good enough!

It makes me glad in certain respects that we have Madsen(i know he has another thread) and others who have had a rough start to their careers in the EFL and who are taking on board the advice and training and trying to make a fight of it.

Whatever the conclusion this young man will have a lot of regrets i think/hope.
