Bristol City Reflection 17:18 - Apr 12 with 9484 views | bluenwhite10 | A good point for QPR today considering the players we have out. Bristol City a very good side with the ball but very shy in putting the ball into the box and I can’t really remember Nardi making many saves considering the possession they had. QPR goal was a great move and a great team goal. Some good performances today and improvement shown from Ashby and Madsen. 3 standout players today. Morrison and Edwards but MOM today was Varane. A good point towards safety

Bristol City Reflection on 20:28 - Apr 12 by Dorse | As others have already mentioned, what a ball from Dembele to Ashby! Set faces to 'stunned'. With the team we put out, that performance was quite something. Thought Ashby had his best game in our colours and it was great to see Saito back. |
I thought we were good for first 25 mins of the 1st half and 20 mins of 2nd half. We tired after then in both halves. Kolli should have passed to Smyth, but he’s a striker and they tend to back themselves to be best placed to score. In hindsight, pass and look to get in place for a return pass and flick it home. Biggest surprise for me was how Brizzle lacked the ambition and urgency to go for the 3 points. They were 5th, in the playoffs and one of the firm teams in the division against a struggling injury hit side, with no real threat up front and they just passed it around hoping something might happen. So many chances to shoot, but always went for another pass.
Bristol City Reflection on 21:06 - Apr 12 with 2594 views | mart_Goblin | Enjoyed that . I thought it was 2 teams pushing to win a football match . We did fade as mentioned and I think they sensed that towards the end . But overall I think we did well, especially first half . Yang and Saito caused them big problems . Dembele still looks a little off it and as I said before we probably won’t see the best of him until August…..but what a pass for Ashby . Poor finish from him but overall I thought he was very good . As was all the back 4 Morrison especially and as for Edwards ….thats a different level. Best player on the pitch by a mile even when he went into midfield. Varane excellent and another word for Nicholas Madsen. First 30 mins was his best in a QPR shirt by miles . Faded again , maybe simply due to lack of ‘match fitness’ but after giving him pelters for months , I do see a decent player there . Today he looked hungry with some decent touches snd another great assist . I thought Marti left his subs too long again . I know he looks to his bench and sees Holby City but if they ain’t fit then why are they there ? Yang and Saito were on empty for 15 mins before they were removed . Frey was the perfect choice to help get us up the pitch so strange he didn’t come on. If he ain’t fit, put someone else on the bench . Overall though a good point with all things considered. Just nice to see forward players moving and passing and liking a threat. About time . Just to add, I get the booing of Armstrong . A bit panto etc . But why him and Dickie got nothing (that I heard anyway). Middle Aged men booing a (what seems a decent ) young man who dared join another club ? Each to their own. Not for me though . I think he's a fine player, but he lost his man today for the goal and the goal's on him.

Bristol City Reflection on 17:49 - Apr 12 by loftus77 | Before ko today, chances of staying up: 75% Now, chances of staying up 90-92% IMHO Fine work today from the Rangers - thoroughly decent point against a good Championship team. Which makes me think that, thanks to this management team, we might well be a decent one too.... |
90-92% chance of staying up? Luton & Plymouth would need to win all four remaining matches to finish above us if we got zero points from now on. Admittedly, Cardiff only need to win three of their four! I expect 47 points will be more than enough for any club to survive. As is the case more times than not! I thought the game today was the best played at LR this season. [Post edited 12 Apr 21:41]

Really enjoyed today, proper contest. Thought the first 25 mins was as good as we've been all season. Bloody hope Kolli reflects on not squaring to completely unmarked Smyth...that was ridiculous.

Bristol City Reflection on 21:45 - Apr 12 with 2331 views | Jimboqpr | Decent performance overall considering we had no strikers, no LB and no Sam Field. I was expecting more from Bristol City and other than the 2nd half of the first half it never really came. In my opinion Kolli should've came on 15 mins earlier at least and okay he balloned one over the bar when two players were on his right to be played in but on another day that goes top bins and he's the king of shepherds bush!
Bristol City Reflection on 21:58 - Apr 12 with 2264 views | HammersmithR | Armstrong was developing nicely at Rangers. But he wanted more money. He can do one. You only have to speak to Bristol fans to find out what they think of him. Armstrong simply went with what his agent told him to do. Dickie still very slow. He was much further down with his career compared to Armstrong. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Yeah, think I am in the minority but I liked him and wanted him to stay. He or his agent wanted to go. If he expected a good reception then he is very naive.

Bristol City Reflection on 22:57 - Apr 12 with 2066 views | Harbour | Enjoyable game they only had the one shot on target but had a couple of presentable chances that they missed. We were the better side despite all the possession they had it didn’t come to much other than the goal which was well worked. Yang and Saiton worked their socks off but for me Edward’s was class so composed did not put a foot wrong. Madsen put a shift in and got stuck in first half but faded. Looked like Dickie handball not given and was there push on Yang in the box both possible pens. Overall big improvement keep it up rangers

Bristol City Reflection on 00:39 - Apr 13 with 1708 views | RsinWales | The first twenty minutes were scintillating. Absolutely cracking football and we could have been 3-0 up. So encouraging to see what we are capable of. Shame they scored against the run of play, as it took the wind out of our sails. Across the whole game I thought Edwards was just brilliant - both in defence and midfield. Covered so much ground and won the ball so often. Dunne, Ashby, and Morrison were also really strong. There were several occasions where last ditch headers, interceptions and tackles saved the day - and kept City from having any real chances. Proud of that performance as I had half-expected an 'after the Lord Mayor's show' disaster after the Oxford win. Credit to the players and the staff for getting up for the battle.

Why are we so sure he didn’t want to sign?
Bristol City Reflection on 05:55 - Apr 13 with 1458 views | kernowhoop | A neutral would have enjoyed that game. Lots of decent football and it could have gone either way. I thought Bristol City looked menacing in their attacking build-up, but, was surprised that, as a top six team, their threat did not turn into real goal-scoring opportunities. Maybe that was down to our defending. Shouldn't judge by one game, perhaps, but it suggests that the gap between a play-off team and us is barely discernible.
Bristol City Reflection on 06:39 - Apr 13 with 1378 views | dmm | One of our group brought someone along who had never been to a football match before. He said afterward he really enjoyed it and will be coming back. For me, that performance was better than v Oxford. Credit to the players and to Marti who set us up nicely and got his tactics just right.

It was certainly more entertaining and much better viewing. Marti will rightly take some credit for the start but I also thought Manning screwed up first half and subsequently tightened it down in the second half. If Manning had studied what others have done in terms of time on the ball and pressure, they would probably have closed a lot of the creativity down better but credit to those that took advantage - Madsen in particular did much better during the initial spell with time and space. He also got more stuck in, which is good for him and us. Ashby was also given less attention and pressure, which helped him to get forward and look better too but we were lucky they didn’t switch sides on him. Manning’s call again I assume. So we played well for more or less half a game again, but split that across two periods - one in each half. Made some mistakes, but made a lot more chances too = entertainment ✅ A point was good business, especially with some other results, but it could have easily been 3 with the chances created. Meanwhile, Kelman bangs in two more and could well take the golden boot. Orient not far from playoffs I heard yesterday. Overall - much more positive week than expected and credit where credit is due, given the pressure we created for ourselves. And in honour of the win at Oxford and the match preview, a Ramsay quote: “I don’t like looking back. I’m always constantly looking forward. I’m not the one to sort of sit and cry over spilt milk (CUPS). I’m too busy looking for the next cow.”

I'm really curious as to how he he feels about QPR. Does he want to be here next season or does he think the league is too physically demanding for the type of player he is and he wants to move on. Despite another rollercoaster of a season Marti and Calm deserve praise for their bonding of team spirit. This is such a likable squad despite its shortcomings. C'mon u Rs

Obviously, plenty of things to improve and again he got caught in possession in a really dangerous area, but these occasions are reducing and his overall play is getting better and better. I really think, and fervently hope, we have a cracking player there next season. [Post edited 13 Apr 8:07]

Bristol City Reflection on 08:21 - Apr 13 with 1119 views | gazza1 | Armstrong, Dickie & Wells all done their bit at the Rangers, never let us down that I can recall......they have moved on & good luck to them. They have a career and family to think about, including money matters. As for the game yesterday......they looked decent but so did we. They probably edged it but did not really threaten us too much, 3 or 4 times perhaps. We were better for several periods during the match. Not much between the two teams overall. Both teams could have won the game. Not much between to the teams in this division, its a shame we have had so many injuries.

Agreed. He still wants to play chicken with the opposition. Is it to take a player out of the game by drawing him in, beating him, and then passing? Or does he want to show off his skills? It's a bit of an irritation to me but I guess he's still learning. He's got the ability and physique to become a very good player at this level.

It's in the family !!!! And to think we were linked with 17 year old Ethan Mbappe also. Although along similar lines, we signed Anton Ferdinand !!!
