Marti, stick or twist? 18:34 - Apr 18 with 68032 viewsGloucs_R

I'm really hoping all of the rumours about Marti leaving at the end of the season are untrue.

Consistency is absolutely key for us.

I think he's doing a decent job, definitely had his challenges this year.

What is everyone else's view?

Gary O'Neill would be my alternative if he were to depart. But I would much rather he was here next season.

Poll: Are we staying up?

Well then

Sob. Don't even know to think Marti is letting us down or if he is simply looking for alternative jobs when the inevitable happens. Whatever, seems the writing is now all over the wall.

So no meeting has happened?

If you believe the Nourry relationship had broken down so far that he were willing to pay him up, I think if anything this feels like good news. I'd resigned myself to the belief he likely wouldn't be here next year weeks ago. At least if this happens we'll actually make money on him rather than pay him off and it's happening early. Really early. So that gives us a chance to get the next poor bastard in well ahead of preseason.

Personally I'm chalking this up to Nourry costing us my favourite manager we've had since Warnock. If it all goes tits up from here I hope the backlash is aimed at him rather than whoever is in the dugout.

Good timing to get that article out last week with his “grievances” and then say “if he’s wanted he’ll stay”. Spanner in the works that leak came from the club his people met.

I wish he was staying but I'm not sure I would have been too sorry to see him go in November when we were comfortably the worst team in the division. More than anything he seems a really good bloke and it's been nice having him as our manager. I wish him well and presumably the club have a few targets lined up as this will have been in the pipeline for a while.

Southampton maybe? Feels like a decent shout and a buy-out clause is buttons to them.

'What do we want? We don't know! When do we want it? Now!'

I don't really care about any of that.

I'm almost certain he's been trying to manufacture a move for the last 11 months. I'm also almost certain that's because QPR's been made a horrible place to work for him.

Simply put; I trust him far more than I trust Nourry. I don't blame him for wanting to escape and thank him for keeping us up - twice - in differing but equally farcical circumstances both times.

Huge job for the next guy. Our previous four managers before him had us in bottom of the table form.

Great post again.

This could be true , I don’t know for sure of course.
If it is , then compensation will be paid and we can move on swiftly.
Not happy days, but a new chapter.

But honestly , read between the lines.
I don’t buy this at all .
Last weekend CN would have been fuming after Ian McColloughs piece .
This weekend it’s the retaliation .

If it’s true , MC will be unhappy it leaked , if it’s untrue , which I think it is , MC will be furious .

That’s the mentality at the moment . Ego’s and games with what WE hold most dear .

Fck it, good luck to him.

This club a millstone around any manager’s neck. I hope Delia knows how to cook paella.

It’s a risk for him, can’t imagine any other team in the championship if they slip to the foot of the table like we did.
Definitely not our most successful manager but probably the most likeable.

Completely agree. WBA just sacked a club icon and a guy with a track record or doing well in this league for missing the play offs, I don’t think 12 without a win would last very long up there.

I love Marti, but look at what’s happened to all the other managers we’ve had since Neil - it’s not a who’s who of success. Good luck to him, feels like it has to happen now. If she’s openly flirting with all the other boys out there move on.

John Percy wrote in the Telegraph a few days ago that RVN's position at Leicester was under review and Danny Rohl was one of the names he mentioned as a replacement:

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2025/04/20/leicester-city-relegated-doomed-

"Now that relegation has been confirmed, he will have talks with the hierarchy next week. There is no break clause in the contract he signed in November, which runs to June 2027.

Russell Martin has admirers at Leicester for an identifiable style of play but it may be a tough sell with supporters.

At Southampton, Martin lost all three of his games against Leicester with an aggregate score of 12-3.

Sheffield Wednesday’s Danny Röhl and former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas, in charge at Serie A club Como, also have support."

There are some interesting names mentioned for the next head coach. But surely the more experienced ones would think twice about coming because of Nourry. He will now have a certain reputation.

Paella Balti - cooked over a smoking house fire.

Served in a Balti bowl with Estrella AND a Cobra.

I’m taking it on to the (Gary) Apprentice next year as the oldest contestant ever- probably older than Sir Alan himself, although much taller and better looking.

Was the success really worth it with a face and football club like Spurs, Sir Alan ? Stick to the music towers, eh ?

I’m fired ? Ok, thanks Tim and Baroness B. Laters.
