Marti, stick or twist? 18:34 - Apr 18 with 75171 viewsGloucs_R

I'm really hoping all of the rumours about Marti leaving at the end of the season are untrue.

Consistency is absolutely key for us.

I think he's doing a decent job, definitely had his challenges this year.

What is everyone else's view?

Gary O'Neill would be my alternative if he were to depart. But I would much rather he was here next season.

Poll: Are we staying up?

I must vehemently express my profound consternation and unequivocal dismay at the insinuation thus presented, for it strikes me as a most egregious mischaracterization, one that not only wounds the very fabric of my sensibilities but also stands as a flagrant affront to the principles of decency and mutual respect that I hold in the highest regard. To suggest such a thing is to traverse a perilous path of baseless presumption, and I find myself both aggrieved and astounded that such an odious assertion could be levied with even a modicum of sincerity.

I think in general we need to get over making flippant references to things like that and accept them for the dark comedy that fuels any QPR fan.

Otherwise my match reports are going to be absolutely fcked.

That's why I never reference Strictly Ramsey's Air Crash Jungle Nightmare Investigations On Ice with Mrs Brown.

I don't think dark humour is the problem.

Referring to our boys losses is what upsets some.

If me and GroveR had referenced a Vietnam MASH unit I don't think many would have blinked an eyelid.

If he leaves, and we have a lot of players out of contraxt, we will have no manager and hardly any championship level players. I accept that maybe he hasn't dome a dazzling job, ian holloway got us to 16th and got fired, but things probably aren't going to get any better, probably way worse! Looking at what many managers have done we are probably at the top end of where we should be

His piece on the bbc match report he says “ as long as I am wanted I am very happy” goes on to praise the fans….does not sound like he wants to leave…over to Nouri

I'm sorry, but I don't see what most fans are seeing here. Far too many seem to think that Cifuentes is the second coming and that we should be grateful to have him. He's mediocre at best. For those foolish enough to think there's no-one better out there, you really do need a re-think, QPR are a London based championship team that play in the second tier of the best football league in the world, this fact alone would suggest that should Cifuentes depart there would literally be no shortage of viable replacements. I think it's time we show him the door.

I accept it can be argued he's not done brilliantly, but we've been in the championship now for eleven seasons. Apart from Mark Warburton, who has taken us above lower mid table mediocrity? I think its more likely things will get worse if he leaves, but theres probably a fair chaeit will stay roughly the same

The manager is not the problem it’s the squad…not sure who else would have got a tune out of them.

Ainsworth was dreadful, but he even managed to keep us up one year. Injuries have completely screwed us at times this season, and those in charge of the fitness at the club should go before Cifuentes. But that still does not give the manager a free ride. We have been pretty appalling in most games I've watched this season, bar a very few exceptions. We will drop eventually if we carry on like this.

Not having this line that people trot out every time we lose badly under Marti; Ainsworth did not keep us up. The 30 ish points Beale accumulated before he set his career alight did.

Manager has got his team selection wrong two games in a row and it’s cost us. Fine. But how many instances of sacking a manager do we need to go through for people to realise *the manager is not the problem*.

In this era of our club - Warbs Beale Critchley Ainsworth Marti - we have had 5 very different styles and completely different recruitment approaches. You can assign players in this team to each manager - Chair Paal Fox Colback Madsen - and from that alone you can see the problem.

I don’t know if Nourry will fix it long term or not. But if you think the next guy will wave a magic wand and fix the issues of the last 7 years then it’s just futile going back and forth on these threads imo.

The ownership have been, are, and will be the problem at this football club until they go.

Twist.
Marti has too many long spells of mediocrity, punctuated with small periods of improvement, for my liking.

I don't think things will change personally no matter who is in the dug out.I'm just being pragmatic about our club's prospects and football in general. As the cliche says..."it's a results based thing".

The scenario for next season is all about Nourry. It's he that needs to get the sub-standard players and dead wood out. Go into next season with our contracted players and we will go down. All about Nourry. Not Marti.

What if the real reason Marti is unhappy is because he is allegic to shellfish, teetotal and is actually quite ambivalent about C****ea?

I do think there is a rather big caveat to the team selection over the past two games. Why would you risk players coming back from injury such as Chair, Frey, Kolli etc to play 90 minutes if you are safe?
Imagine the uproar on here from some if Chairs hamstring had gone or something.
Those injured need the summer to get back full fitness.

Do I think the personnel for the starting lineups were right? No, but our lack of squad depth is dire.

Completely.

As ever, we have to realise and admit that, as supporters, we do not know what these players are capable of as regards starting availability/possible playing time/recovery/rest.

After today’s appalling performance I think there’s an increased likelihood that MC will still be at QPR next season. After all, who’d want to take him on after witnessing such a total gob bumming.

There’s that, plus the buy out clause/fee (assuming it is large and exists) and the lack of consistent results across nearly two seasons.

The deciding factor will be how many clubs need a new manager and who’s available without having to pay out a one off fee. Once that’s whittled down, Marti might be an option for another mid table club with a better salary offer and willingness to pay the release.

Not that long ago, we wouldn’t pay it….

So, I suspect yesterday was mostly about Marti getting the pay off clause removed, combined with players that are going to be out of contract (with no negotiations taking place) and the wrong system to show Nourry that his game model doesn’t really work with these players.

Burnley obliged by playing well - mostly around our formation, making the point even further.

Add in the national newspaper ‘cry for help’ article and I would imagine Marti is now waiting a call to see Nourry tomorrow morning along with Mr Peter, who is in his Mid40s

Unfortunately, I don’t think Nourry works that way and is hoping to get rid with a pay off and that means we will be well and truly stuck in the middle with Poo.

I hope I’m wrong but there’s only two Hopes, one of them was Bob and he’s dead.
