Burnley must be on a massive clean sheet bonus to run around like that for 90+ mins

QPR trounced in final home game as Burnley run riot - Report on 10:15 - Apr 28 by terryb

I thought we looked good for the opening three minutes! That changed after Madsen finds himself free in the penalty area & instead of shooting, attempts a cut back to nobody!

I was relieved that Burnley had decided that they didn't need Edwards for this match. They really missed him though! And the celebrations for Trafford's save were more than we would have managed if we had scored. Near the end of the match it looked as if we might have a goal scoring opportunity, but SIX of their players sprinted back to snuff out any danger. I realised at that moment why Parker is the man to employ at this level!

Thankfully, Ashley Barnes didn't score & it was good having an after match drink with friends.

After returning home, I saw that clip of their players running back when Dembele was on a break. No sign of any of ours running in support of Dembele though. Even if we can't afford players who can match the quality of that opposition, it would be great to have players showing that attitude. Very impressive from Burnley, the clean sheet obviously mattered to them.

If at the beginning of the season you'd offered me 15th and safe going into the last game, I'd have bitten your hand off.

While it's admirable how they swarm around Dembele like bees round honey, I think it's very telling how the contrary is also true. Where on earth are our players busting a gut to support him? On Saturday you had one team giving 100% and another at about 25% if we're being generous.

Sorry, just saw this after I'd replied. Admirable what they did but just look at where our players are even after Dembele's shot. Absolutely damning.

Clive mentions it in his report, but as it was in front of me in safe standing, seeing them celebrating keeping out Colback's shot like they had a blood vendetta against him whilst it took all of attackers just to create a half chance was quite illuminating as to their mentality

The third goal summed us up for me. Lost the ball in our own half, no attempt to get back and make up for the mistake just allow another 2 on 1 against the full back. Ken Paal then puts up as much resistance as my wife would if Ryan Renynolds walked into the bedroom and bang 3-0. As they go off to celebrate in the tv footage this is when you see Dembele strolling back to help. He's never going to progress until he sorts out that side of his game

Compare that to how Burnley defended and thats why we are where we are and why next season is going to be even worse imo

I stayed for the lap of honour, was quite sad to see a few of these for the last time looking pretty much at rock bottom

Is the 3-0 Ryan Reynolds comment, fair on the wife. Or on RR, who's not as young as you think!

Yeah, Paal should have been hauled off after half an hour. He was a disgrace.

He will end up going to a mid-table Championship club and have an underwhelming career. That's the thing with a lot of the players we've signed over the last decade - they lack the hunger or personal pride to achieve anything other than mediocrity. They get paid handsomely every week and will do until they retire.

I mentioned Ashby signing autographs as he went off on another thread - yes, I get that someone would have slagged him off if he didn't sign them but ffs there is a time and a place. We're 4-0 down in the final home game of the season - at least look like you are bothered about that, get your head down and get off the pitch as quickly as possible.

I know Ashby is one of the scapegoats but I highly doubt he was shouting “who wants my autograph?” as he walked round the pitch. If kids are asking him for high fives and autographs then the right thing to do is accommodate them: I can imagine the irate social media posts everywhere if he’d ignored them.

I'd have to disagree. You're 4-0 down in the final home game of the season and you've pretty much contributed zilch all season, never mind this match. Be pissed off at your performance and at the team's. Sorry if a few kids don't get an autograph from a League Two footballer; never mind, Taylor Richards will be back soon.

I just think it reflects the attitude of most of our players - who cares as they'll be another club along soon enough to keep their tattooist in ink.

Both can be true though. He could have been pissed off and disappointed with the performance and be aware enough that kids will treasure an autograph from a player, regardless of the player or the result.

After that circus against Burnley I might say that if qpr were an old cart horse i ll put it out of its misery, bulldoze down the whole fxcking stadium and pretend this team never existed.

And to think that in a parallel footballing universe less that an hour after that shambles "one of our own" scored an absolute peach of a goal that helped put his current team into the FA Cup final.

Missed the game due to unexpected operation. Which has left me temporarily blind in one eye.
If you’re going to miss a first home game in three years . This is the one.
Thanks for your exceptional report .
The Manure rant was particularly superb.

Get well soon Paddyhoops the eyes are nothing to mess with and I can barely get through putting drops in for redness not to mention an operation

Clean

Bonus

If listening to lots of Undr The Cosh has taught me anything its that most footballers are 100% motivated by money and or days off

That clip shows me both are the carrots to running your bollox off at Burnley

I honestly think it's equal mixtures of two elements we were utterly lacking - pride and self-respect. Burnley were good but they're not Rinus Michels Ajax team. They did the basics very well and worked hard at it. That's pretty much all you need to do to beat this Rangers team.

Well yeah that and the fact they are still chasing a Championship title. Assume there's a nice little bonus for that too.

Make oi laff if Leeds fail to win tonight. Can't see it though.

What we learned is ...

- Nardi is not that good, just a decent Champ keeper.
- Paal is not quick enough, we suspected, now it's proven beyond doubt.
- Colback's legs have gone.
- Ashby is not a RM or RW or RWB. Luckily, we can send him back, don't sign him, and his wages are too much anyway.
- Madsen still does not run back.
- Kolli is not a number 9 and can only play ILW.
- Dembélé can only play 10 or RW at most.
- Edwards is classy and won't be playing for us next season.
- Varane needs the help of someone like Field to play well.
- Fox and Andersen are not good enough.
- Chair is a class player still.
- Frey is still not fit.
- Yang is not coming back, but this is no significant loss, as he is an average L1 striker at most and not really a winger, which we discovered over time.

zzzzzzzzzz

My problem was fans asking, he's obvious got to do it if asked, but why are you begging for a selfie with a loan player who's just churned out the final turd of a turd of a season?

The next most forward QPR player after Dembele looks like he was tumbled over in the centre circle? Maybe missed by the officials if all looking at the ball?
That one player could have received a diagonal pass and through on goal.

Still, the amount of Burnley players busting a gut to get there compared to ours was very telling.

On the match thread it was suggested that they are average players who probably are just being coached better. Why is it people simply cannot admit that when a game is lost (any game, not just QPR, I see fans of other clubs doing this) that maybe, just maybe, the other team is better, a lot better.

Same with us when we won the Championship, so many opposition fans saying we were nothing special. Nothing special yet top all season bar 2 weeks early on, most clean sheets, divisional player of the season and so on...

Well I’m hoping most of those asking were kids: perhaps they are not so judgemental about players and were just excited about interacting with one.
