QPR trounced in final home game as Burnley run riot - Report on 10:10 - Apr 28 by ngbqpr

Might be my memory playing tricks...but didn't we have a really good chance after 3 or 4 minutes...we ended up with a player unmarked just to the right of their box (from my vantage point in R block I couldn't make out who), but his pull back across the box didn't find a hooped shirt - but Burnley defence was definitely back-pedalling.

Would it have made a blind bit of difference if we'd scored? Probably not - other than poking the bear even quicker. But not seen it referred to in any reports / highlights.

And to think that in a parallel footballing universe less that an hour after that shambles "one of our own" scored an absolute peach of a goal that helped put his current team into the FA Cup final.
🙂

Yes, this is what I reflected on more than anything this weekend and I know others on here did too.

Crystal Palace, a 'ragged' South London outfit which I, as a Rangers supporter, looked down on for decades. A team who we would poach with casual disdain for players like Allen, Flanagan, Sealy, Fenwick? Wicks etc al. And a certain manager Terry Venables. The 82 quarter - final. The '6-0'.
And now? How many years have they lauded it in the top flight (11?) without any relegation struggle at all. And with some truly great players including one of our greatest whose single sale could greatly determine our whole financial near-future? How many Wembley days have they had in those 11 years? 2 Cup Finals now. Just think of our one single Zamora moment and the joy it created and imagine that. Imagine this board, imagine our loyal fanbase...

The worst thing of all this weekend. I blame Jude the Cat.

Sometimes it’s a good ball that no one ran onto.
I saw Stanley play for Brentford a couple of times and he chipped the occasional perfectly weighted ball into a space beyond the defence and got booed because there was no one there. Remember Gerry and Dave Thomas ?

Strong and stable my arse.

Thanks for the report, Clive. Seeing Bristol City get bodied within an inch of their life tonight has made Saturday slightly easier to digest.

I remember Wilkins getting pelters numerous times for that. He'd play a ball, but nobody was on the same wavelength.

Get well soon Paddyhoops the eyes are nothing to mess with and I can barely get through putting drops in for redness not to mention an operation

Yes all the best. I was diagnosed with glaucoma in both eyes on Friday so know how you feel since losing vision in my right eye. Saturdays disgrace made me feel I would not be missing much watching us if my left eye lost vision too. All a reminder of getting old and believing there will be no more good times at this club.

In the 70's we could get over 30,000 in the ground and there was never any talk of us being a small club. Unfortunately all seater stadiums and the big money from the 90's sees us with 17,000 crowds and called a small club today with little prospects of getting out of the rut. Such is modern football we now seem to suffer our heaviest defeats at home when in the old days these big defeats used to be away.

Well I’m hoping most of those asking were kids: perhaps they are not so judgemental about players and were just excited about interacting with one.

I watched as Ashby as he walked below us in the upper loft and around south africa rd to the dug out - it was almost all kids either asking for hand slaps or autographs.
Ashby definitely not my favourite player, but full marks for making a kids day by responding like that - Coupled with the Under 9's doing a lap of honour, this was the highlight of the day.
I left on the final whistle, was not going to stomach our team coming back out.
I will however be renewing, because 53 seasons of visiting Loftus Rd tells me all these things are circular... some years we're decent, but more years than most we are poor...

I agree. I remember Tyler Roberts phoning in his latest injury away at Hull, losing 3-0, and he walked around in front of the away end and blanked everybody. I lost my sht. I quite like that Ashby acknowledged people and made a few kids' days.

By and large I think Ashby is a joke. The worst kind of tatted, 125k watch, 30 games of professional football in his life academy "baller".

But let's not burn everything down while we're all cross. If he'd strolled round the pitch and blanked everybody he'd have got (rightly) caned.

I thought it was quite a nice thing he did, and that sort of stuff means a lot to young kids we want to get invested in our club.

QPR trounced in final home game as Burnley run riot - Report on 17:52 - Apr 28 by Juzzie

The next most forward QPR player after Dembele looks like he was tumbled over in the centre circle? Maybe missed by the officials if all looking at the ball?
That one player could have received a diagonal pass and through on goal.

Still, the amount of Burnley players busting a gut to get there compared to ours was very telling.

On the match thread it was suggested that they are average players who probably are just being coached better. Why is it people simply cannot admit that when a game is lost (any game, not just QPR, I see fans of other clubs doing this) that maybe, just maybe, the other team is better, a lot better.

Same with us when we won the Championship, so many opposition fans saying we were nothing special. Nothing special yet top all season bar 2 weeks early on, most clean sheets, divisional player of the season and so on...

Burnley clearly have better players than us but they've had plenty of poor performances this season. It would be unfair on non-league sides to say it was like a non-league side against a Champions League team because they'd have at least put up some fight. Plus the last home game of the season, you want to make a statement and send everyone home with a skip in their step, however crap the season has been. When was the last time we got turned over like that in the last home game? Jack Supple must know.

Paul Smyth does it most weeks as well seen Saito stop for high fives and photos during the game when taken off, I think Kolli did the same on Saturday
Is a nice thing to do regardless of the scoreline

Thanks fellas . As I said before looked after superbly by the NHS .
On the mend and ready for new season .
Surgeon said a detached retina can be a result of a major trauma.
The correlation of following QPR and this isn’t lost on me.

I had a torn retina fixed a few years ago - not pleasant but the morphine was good and moreish...very moreish.

It's always noisiest at the shallow end

On the subject of non-league sides I remember remarking to my brother during the second half on Saturday that Tamworth put on a considerably better performance against Tottenham in the FA Cup third round than we were doing against Burnley.
There really did appear to be a gulf of several divisions between the two sides. Burnley were the best opposing side I’ve seen since the Newcastle 6-0 but we made it ridiculously easy for them.

Console yourself with thought that TR now plays for Northampton Town. I don't think the nether regions of League 1 is where Tyler Roberts thought Tyler Roberts would end up when he thought he was too good for little old QPR. Meanwhile in other news Todd Kane is a free agent after being released by National League side Ebbsfleet Utd. Ozzy Kakay is at Boavista. Admittedly he hardly plays but I bet he's having fun.

Clean

Bonus

If listening to lots of Undr The Cosh has taught me anything its that most footballers are 100% motivated by money and or days off

That clip shows me both are the carrots to running your bollox off at Burnley

This just about summed up the pathetic ‘on the beach’ QPR performance.

It was embarrassing to watch that and the players should quite frankly award their wages to the QPR In the Community charity.

That is the kind of fitness levels and attitude the QPR squad should aspire to if they want to challenge for the top 2 or even top 6.

We drove up on Friday to watch the DS at the training ground, as we hadn't seen it since it's days as the BA Concorde Centre.

Stayed with our daughter and her partner on Friday night and then down to the game on Saturday morning.

Driving home on Saturday, I concluded it was the first time in 55 years of going that I have returned home having seen us concede 10 goals. Even the one token goal we got in reply was scored by a trialist.

Well done Clive, that was a cracking report.

How you keep your humour is beyond me.

I'm off to have a good think about next seasons season ticket (before auto renewing in July which will happen)

God bless all that head to Sunderland.

Dont know why we bother. .... but we do!
